How One Woman Finds Connection to Her Caribbean Roots in New York and Beyond
"Oistins Fish Market is a lively market located in Barbados, known for its weekly Friday night festivities. Visitors can enjoy a vibrant atmosphere filled with soca music, delicious local food, and a variety of drinks, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists." - Cori Murray
"Friday is fish day in the Caribbean, and the village of Oistins, on Barbados ’s southern coast, hosts its famous Oistins Fish Fry. During the week, market stalls sell fresh dorado, barracuda, swordfish and more. Come Friday night, locals, dressed in their finest, along with tourists drink beer and rum and enjoy heaping plates of grilled fish, fish cakes and lobster. Stalls sell crafts, and everyone dances to live music from the band shell."
Local market with a local vibe, local food, local music and much love. Food from Pat's place just the best, great flavours, plenty food cooked right in front of you, get there well before 18.00 to miss the long, long queues. 2 hours wait, was it worth it? Absolutely.
Friday night is the night to be visit and enjoy the great music and electric atmosphere.

The was a fantastic experience. A bit pricey but worth the experience. The service was ok. The food was fresh and cooked to order. It was delicious. The beach was nice. The DJ's and entertainment was great. I highly recommend.

Fridays at the fish market things are jumping! Along with the usual booths selling fish dinners with all the fixings there are vendors selling trinkets and souvenirs. We chose to eat at Yvonne's, having the tuna and sword fish. Both were fantastic.

It was very busy. For those who really enjoy music and dancing, this is a must. There are some small souvenir stalls where you can find nice and inexpensive souvenirs.
