This is a cute place. The staff enjoy their work and it shows with their great service. The food is OK, the coffee is good. There’s a tendency to slightly undercook the eggs (which is fine and normal), and the brunch platters can be tricky to eat without taking some of the brown paper it’s served on. It’s not really a problem and I’d be happy to come back. We’ve tried the brunch bar and the downstairs beach bar in the evening. It’s a fun place.

Google
After 19 years, still one of my favourite restaurants. All day dining, great coffee, food and cava. Plus downstairs there's two beach sand themed dining areas, with the greatest album ever, the Beach Boys' "Surf's Up" on rotation.

This restaurant is one of the best places I have ever been in Madrid! The staff are really friendly and nice, the food and cocktails are excellent Cute place, bohemian vibe. Thank you guys 🌻

We stopped at Ojalá for drinks in the afternoon, and it was a fantastic experience! Rosa was incredibly kind, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming (Sorry I can't remember all the names!). While we sat at the bar, they chatted with us and gave us great recommendations for places to visit around the city. The staff was fun, kind, and full of energy—we had such a great time with them, sharing lots of laughter that truly lifted our spirits! The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, and the drinks were perfectly crafted and absolutely delicious! The place itself is super cute and charming, with a unique touch—"La Playa", a basement area with beach sand where you can sit and enjoy a more private and cozy setting. We can’t wait to return to Ojalá the next time we’re in Madrid! Highly recommend!

Google
Ojalá Beach Bar has a cool concept and a unique atmosphere, especially the basement floor covered in sand, which gives it a relaxed, beachy vibe. Unfortunately, the service from the waitresses wasn’t very friendly. As for the food, we ordered tacos al pastor and beers — everything came out as expected. The tacos were tasty and the beer was nice and cold, just the way it should be.

The atmosphere and food was amazing. Stuff was incredibly nice, especially Mari who made our experience in Ojalá delightful✨ Would definitely recommend this place🪷🧚🏼‍♀️

Google
Such a cool spot! My friend and I decided to come to this place for brunch because we saw some ambiance-ful photos. The staff were incredibly sweet and the food was out of this world! Ordered the turkish eggs, the labneh hit the spot. Highly recommend if in the neighborhood and looking for an experience. Take a trip to the bathroom, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is a legendary institution in Madrid. A unique design by the amazing New York architect, Andrés Jaque, that set what cool restaurant design can be now. The first gender neutral bathroom, designed as a homage to trans cultura across the world. The food is really good, healthy and unpretentious. They make their own bread. Service is impecable. Don't miss this one!

Yelp
This place has sand!! When you you request a table, request to be seated in the basement. The basement has sand and beach vibes! I had some sangrias and they were so sweet and delicious! Then we ordered a burrata pizza! The food was pretty good, but the vibes were sick. We really came for the views and it was worth it. It did get pretty hot downstairs, so order a cold beverage.

Yelp
Such a unique spot! Little beach bar hidden downstairs. You have to go for breakfast upstairs and dinner downstairs

Yelp
Ojalá was one of those gems you need someone to recommend to you, and in this case it was our tour guide who did when I asked for a vegetarian spot rec. It was a good 30 min walk from where we were, but it was so worth it. First off, despite being very crowded and the two of us having just walked in, they managed to squeeze us onto a table that was funnily halfway out of the side patio door, so we were next to the street. This wasn't a problem though, eating as the madrid locale bustled around us (and the occasional curious sniffy dogs). Their carrot and other juices are refreshing and hit the mark. They're very generous with their sweet potato crisps, so we had a handful of those with our hummus and salads. The salads perhaps had too much dressing, we'd have preferred it dryer and leafier, but the dressings were mindfully made and healthy. We left greener and well fed.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of brunch here! They give you your main dish along with a side salad, bread, and yogurt! Plus, they also give you two drinks which I loved!! I wish I would've had time to go again because all of the food and drinks were incredible. They have plenty of seating outside, inside, and a downstairs area that had sand flooring. Thankfully they didn't sit us down there because I wouldn't have been a fan of walking through sand. Nonetheless, everything was great and totally recommend it!

Pam M.

Yelp
We stumbled on this place and decided to go in literally because we didn't want to walk any further. The food was a surprise because it was totally delicious. The chicken tagine, sumac salad, falafel and passion fruit drinks were all tasty and enjoyable. The carrot cake was also very good.

Yelp
This place is all about the ~vibes~. The upstairs is a beautiful tropical theme, but what really makes this place stand out is the sand floor in the basement! This would be a perfect date night spot or Sunday afternoon brunch w friends place. What I ordered: I had eaten beforehand so I just got a cappuccino (which was delicious). The servers were nice and fairly attentive. I would definitely come back just because of how cool it is! FYI: the hours are wrong on Yelp. They are most definitely open around dinner time as well.

Yelp
Decided to try this place for brunch based on reviews and images of the food. We both had the brunch ( continental and the just 4U) and both were phenomenal. Quality of the food and breads were very good. We have been struggling to find good bread and croissants while our visit to Spain and this was the first place to have just what we have been looking for. Staff was attentive and efficient. My only suggestion to the business is that the main room that we were sat on had a green wall that was recently painted and the room had a strong chemical smell. Personally I don't think they should have the room open for sitting. Also a couple that was sat on the table next to us got the winter coats damaged as the fresh paint stained their coats. Hope the business covered the costs for the damage coat but I don't know what the resolution to the issue was.

Yelp
A super cute and quaint place to grab a bite to eat or a drink! The prices are very affordable and well worth it for what you get. They have a beautiful indoor seating area on the ground level that has a bunch of plants, a downstairs area that has sand floors with a chill beach vibe, and an outdoor seating area with a nice European cafe vibe. I had the Just-4-you and loved it. It came with an orange juice and a latte included. I had the juice with my food and took the latte to go at the end. It was a pretty healthy meal, but flavorful as well. I loved the mushrooms that came on the side! The sangria was really good as well!

Yelp
I was literally obsessed with this place!! This place is always crowded! I went here for lunch but was so packed that I decided to not wait and come back for dinner. I literally waited at the bar for about 45 mins to get a table while I gulped down a few Sangria's! Again, they're my favorite ever since Spain! This place has a good hangout bar with a huge table which is quite unique and comfortable for most people waiting on a table. We took the seating downstairs and to my surprise there were shacks! And wait, Sand too!!! I loved how the ambience here was so chill and casual. I ordered the regular burger and it was really good. Much better than I expected. Service was very nice too! I definitely recommend this place! You must visit Ojala at least to chill with a Sangria on their pseudo beach!!

Yelp
The setting was really cool, the beach area gives it a very nice unique touch. The food itself was ok. The eggs were undercooked and the ham was not very good. We were happy when the food arrived so fast but the food was not great. The staff was nice but seemed to be in a hurry to get the next group in. The cafe con leche was great. This wouldn't be the 1st place I'd go to for breakfast. It's also a bit of a tourist trap.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely brunch spot that had the coolest vibe with all the hanging plants and beautiful meal sets. We got the Just-4-U and the Granjara and it's so neat that sets come with both a coffee and a juice. We paid a little more to upgrade our coffee and it was worth it. Note that the Bombon tastes like it's spiked! It was really nice to take a break from tapas and there was just enough food and variety in each set to not be boring. The banana bread with the Granjara was delicious too. Downstairs is their "beach" so it was cool to walk through it to get to the restrooms (which were really trippy with all the mirrors and neon). Would love to come back someday and experience happy hour at the fake beach!

Yelp
Food was fantastic and for a great price. Drinks were delicious. The ambiance was cool sitting in the beach area was very unique. The service was the best part. Our waiter Andres gave us great recommendations and was very friendly.

Yelp
Surprisingly flavorful and hip! Great location. Ingredients were FRESH! And the waiters were nothing short of delightful, efficient, and also humble and hardworking (plus easy on the eyes which never hurts). Thai salad was our fave dish that night if you want something light but flavorful and filling. Sangrias were good, and nachos was fresh.

Yelp
This place is super cute. It has outdoor patio seating, indoor open-door seating, bar seating, and a beachy-like seating. I went in by myself to grab a quick bite to eat before I headed to the airport for my flight. The server was patient and nice as I stumbled through with my Spanish. In the end, I ordered a detox juice, eggs benedict, and a chicken breast sandwich (to-go). All items were good. I had the chicken sandwich on the flight home (hours later), and it was still good! It was much better than the food on the airplane so I was happy to have had that. Other big pluses are that the items seem to be on the healthier side and affordable! Ojala (I hope) I'll be back soon.

Yelp
Really cool little restaurant with great people working there. The atmosphere is very up-beat yet relaxed. The food was good, and the place was clean! Also, hands down best sangria. You must try it here...

Yelp
Seriously the cutest place ever. If that doesn't convince you, maybe the reasons below will. 1) Their brunch is an incredible deal. It's also delicious, and under €10 which comes with plenty of food, a fresh squeezed juice, AND coffee. Seriously, how is food so cheap in Spain? Blows my mind. 2) Their downstairs has a floor of sand. Yup. Perfect for when you decide you've had enough city walking for the day and just want to put your feet in the sand and mentally escape to ~*~*la playa*~*~ 3) The service is A+. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. 4) It's right around the corner from a fun major shopping street bustling with cute clothing stores, for when you need to walk off the post-brunch stupor. 5) Why are you still reading this? Go. Eat. Drink. Enjoy.

Yelp
Very good place to brunch in Madrid Took an equivalent to an english breakfast with eggs, sausages, bread, mushrooms, roasted tomates a cappuccino and a fresh orange juice for 13€ approximately and it was very good and filling! If you take the continental breakfast(croissant butter and jam with a hot drink and a juice) be sure to ask for extra bread it's not in the package.

Yelp
I went to this brunch spot on my last day in Madrid and i am SO glad I did! This place was truly incredible, from atmosphere, to the food to, the coffee to the waitstaff. We sat outside on a glorious sunny day, they have umbrellas to sit under for some shade. The inside of this restaurant is SO beautiful, chic, modern and so unique. I was a traveling with a friend who has a dairy allergy and our waitress brought us an allergy menu. To start I ordered fresh juice and a latte, I got the green detox juice which delicious and a great way to start off brunch. For brunch I ordered "The Healthy One", a breakfast platter with a large open faced turkey sandwich (made on delicious bread), sweet potato chips, a little yogurt parfait and a fruit cup. the fruit cup was unimpressive but everything else was fabulous! The hummus was so good, I dipped the sweet potato chips in it! However, the absolute best part of the meal was the Millefeuille with caramel cake. It was probably the single best thing I ate in all of Spain. We saw another table had it, so we asked our waitress what it was and ordered for our table to share. Absolutely worth every calorie(: Side note- this place has great WiFi.

Yelp
This place was recommended by almost anyone I've ever known who's been to Madrid so I had high expectations. The space is gorgeous. Modern with tons of natural light and ample space indoors and outdoors. Downstairs there's a sandy beach to sit and have a drink in. We came for a hungover brunch and found the perfect pick me up. Milkshakes, coffee, juice you name it. I had a Spanish twist on Huevos Rancheros which I had been craving for weeks. I also couldn't resist ordering a savory spanish tortilla which was the best I had had in Spain so far. If you're looking for a brunch to start your day in Madrid look no further than Ojala. I would pretty much come here any time of the day and will be back for a drink at night.
google avatar

Temmy W.

Yelp
The restaurant has a diversified menu compared to other breakfast and brunch restaurants I visited while in Madrid. The food was very nice tasting and freshly made unfortunately there wasn't any English menu unless you go online on their website other than that the food and customer service was overall good

Yelp
Ojalá was one of my favorite restaurants to go to when I was interning abroad in Spain. The food was healthy and tasted delicious. If you have the chance, make sure to go downstairs in the restaurant. In the lower level of the restaurant, the floor is made of sand, there are neon lights and you sit near to the floor. It is unlike any restaurant that I have ever been to. I only wish that there was an Ojalá in California. My personal favorite items to order were the smoothies, the hummus, and the patatas. All really delicious choices. I came here at least three times during my time in Spain, which is a lot considering I tried to visit a new restaurant every time I ate out. Even the location of Ojalá is different than what you'd find in the center of Madrid. The area definitely has more locals than tourists. The only reason that I knocked off one star is because the service here was a little rough. My group and I were seated by a sliding door, which we didn't think twice about. Then one of the waiters opened the sliding door and it hit me! Instead of suggesting we move our table so we would be hit again, he told me "Why are you sitting there?" I started laughing in disbelief because it was him that told us to sit there! The waiters had an attitude of not really caring whether you liked their service or not. Other than this, the restaurant is great!
google avatar

Becky H.

Yelp
Ojalá has the advantage over other brunch places that a reservation (at least for a duo or small group) wasn't strictly necessary. My friend and I both had the set brunch menu, ordering slightly different items from it. I had the turkey with toast and jam, cheese spread, and fresh fruit with OJ and coffee. The coffee and fresh OJ hit the spot, though the coffee was definitely the smallest cup I've had at brunch in awhile. The turkey and jam paired nicely and the bread was fresh, making for a solid brunch sandwich. It was the best part of the meal by far. The fruit came in the tiniest cup I've ever seen and was lackluster. I understand I'm not getting a giant bowl as part of a set menu, but I finished the fruit in two bites which is pathetic really. The same goes for the spread, which barely covered one piece of toast. All in all, the food tasted good, but was lacking in portion sizes so if you're wanting a brunch that will keep you full for awhile, this isn't it.

Yelp
Great place to meet for brunch! The decor is retro and relaxed. The menu is very extensive and the bread is AMAZING! a similar version of Zacks the baker but in Madrid. Now, if you want to and can, go downstairs into the basement area and you will be able to see their bar, which usually opens only at night but ..wait for it..it has sand! yeah, you will feel like you are in an indoor beach with your own self tanning booth. Overall, I had a great experience, the food was great and the service was top notch. Definitely a place to check out when in Madrid.

Yelp
La pasamos súper bien. Buen ambiente y buena comida. Karen nos atendió muy bien, y seguramente volveremos.

Yelp
While exploring the hip area of Malasaña we came across this adorable place. The tables were full, the menu looked delicious and the prices were more than reasonable so we decided to try it! Our meal was DELICIOUS! We each got the chicken salad and hummus to share! The flavors and presentation were very unique as was the adorable atmosphere! We will be back to try more delicious food on the menu! Added bonus: downstairs the floor is covered with sand giving the place a beach vibe! Great place to come with friends for dri

Yelp
Yummy breakfast! We had the Catalan eggs and they were delicious and light as we were avoiding a heavy meal. Loved the tomato bread and the ham

Yelp
When walking in the seating is separated by glass doors and adorned with plants and trendy light fixtures. Toward the back of the restaurant there are stairs headed down to the sand area. With low seating accompanied by mini tables in beach sand the atmosphere is already fun. The two room basement is filled with neon lights and bright decor adding to the eccentric atmosphere. My friend and I ordered guacamole (came with chips), mojito roja, and sangria (big enough to serve two). The food was at a fair price nothing to special however and the drinks yummy yet for how much we drank without a buzz I would say watered down. The atmosphere and friendly staff however made this place a definite must see place in Madrid.

Patricia F.

Yelp
The sand and beachy atmosphere on the bottom floor makes this place stand out. We sat on the patio and was surprised to find on the way to the bathroom. Bookmarking this place to try again next time I'm in Madrid. The tea and coffee we had upstairs was good quality.
google avatar

Marta M.

Yelp
The place is really nice but service was not good (it took us a while to order and serve and besides, they brought us the wrong dish). About the beach, it's really original to find sand all over the ground floor! That's the reason why I went there although for eating first floor is more comfy. I'd like to taste their brunch dishes, looked very good!
google avatar

Yelp
Do you fall prey to terrace envy? It's that feeling I get walking around the neighborhood on a sunny day and longily watch people smiling and enjoying delicious food on a patio when I am in a rush to get somewhere else. I found it happening constantly when I passed by Ojala so knew once I had a free moment on a gorgeous day, I would head here first. Unfortunately, we were not the only ones to have such a thought. The second the resto opened up for lunch, the outside tables filled up and the rest of the crowd hovered over them like vultures to grab the next available one as soon as quickly as possible. Once we snagged one for ourselves, we ordered fruit smoothies and to share, degustation plates of first and third courses that allowed us to try a little bit of everything. Standouts were the fresh guacamole and creamy hummus, the juicy hamburger and tangy noodles, but everything together hit the spot. Even though I felt like we got to try a lot and certainly filled up, our bill didn't top 15 Euros each. The service was good and if it wasn't for the people eyeing our table, I was comfortable enough to hang out there all day long. Although the decor inside is cool and different, I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come here just for the food. It is definitely the sunny terrace in the nice plaza that gives it a leg up.

Aarushi G.

Yelp
The restaurant is gorgeous with bright sea green walls, fully stocked bar, and lush greenery all around. The tables on the top floor have plenty of space to enjoy the ambiance and the food but we opted for the basement which is a full beach with sand and comfy floor couches and colored lighting. The caffe lattes were delicious with the perfect amount of sweet in the cold foam and delicious coffee that actually was strong enough to feel awakened after a long night of drinking the day before. The watermelon gazpacho was refreshing and fruity but still had savory notes. The thai noodle salad was also refreshing with the cold salad including crunchy peanuts and cabbage and nutty dressing and plenty of rice noodles. We both got the huevos racheros which included a velvety black bean base, perfectly poached eggs, creamy and fresh avocado, and delicious, smoky, spicy chorizo with chips. We inhaled the huevos racheros, it was that good. The staff was delightful and accommodating, and gave great recommendations. I absolutely recommend!

Yelp
Excellent brunch after a long Friday night. Outdoor seating. Have to sign up at the waiter's door for an outside table. Inside, sign up with a waiter. Good coffee. For a latte ask for a "café con leche"

Yelp
This. Is. Awesome! The interior, the food, the basement downstairs which is an indoor beach (!), the outfits of the staff - everything worked for me! This is definitely a unique venue and would SO recommend you pay it a visit; the food is really nice (go for the tacos!), pitchers of sangria and mimosa, and can I please discuss the fact that they have actual sand downstairs?! As in: like a beach sand-sand. You just want to kick off your shoes, stuff your face with empanadas, tacos, or a big lovely burger while sipping on some cocktails, now would you not?! I heard / read comments that the service can be quite poor here - I must say that that was not the case when I was here. Seriously, go here!! It's an experience to have!
google avatar

Ellie G.

Yelp
The food and prices were great! However, the service was so bad that I wouldn't come here again unless I had like 12 hours to sit and wait. I had to ask for the waiter several times and order things twice because they didn't come the first time. Even when I did get a waiter's attention, I was met with rudeness & a bad attitude. One walked away from me mid-sentence (bald guy with the tattoos was a literal asshole). I really enjoyed the food, and the ambiance was nice. Maybe it made up for the service but only barely.
google avatar

Natashia S.

Yelp
Beautiful, artsy, and cool seating section downstairs. Loved the ambience. However, the service was incredibly slow and my table got forgotten about and we saw parties who came after us get their orders way before us when we had only ordered drinks. Just keep in mind if you are in a rush.
google avatar

Yelp
I´ve come here on quite a few occasions, only for drinks. But that´s no bother. I feel like this is a place you come to for the atmosphere. The beachy, relaxed theme is found throughout the establishment. Downstairs in the basement there is actual sand and you get to sit on comfortable pillows, very bohemian. With the atmosphere comes slightly pricier drinks but not too much. If you´re trying to impress some friends in Malasaña you can´t go wrong coming here. Their wine is great and I really enjoyed their mojitos! Have a cocktail at the beach! ¡Aproveche!

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place! Love the environment, totally reminded me of being on a beach. When I went I asked for the Plato del día and I got a 3 course meal for 9,75€. I chose crema de tomate, veal and flan (giving it 4 stars because my flan never came out). Nonetheless the soup was amazing. The veal was amazing and I'm sure the flan would have been amazing too had it come out. I also ordered the sangria tinto which is absolutely delicious. We then later went down to the sand bar and got more sangria but this time Blanca and that's probably the best sangria I have had in my life. 10/10 would recommend this place to any friends.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place! I have been twice now, once for breakfast and once for dinner. I am a hugeee breakfast person and their options for breakfast were amazing. They have around 10 different options for brunch and these are basically plates that have around 3-4 different items on them. Including eggs, fruit, toast, yogurt, etc. Each plate has a different theme. These plates also include a choice of coffee or tea and orange juice. In addition to these plates, they also have toast with a variety of toppings and various egg dishes. I had dinner on the bottom floor (in the sandpit) with a few visiting friends. The lunch/dinner menu has a mix of American/TexMex dishes and Spanish dishes. The patatas bravas and Sangria Blanca were amazing. I've heard the Mac and Cheese is delicious I need to go back ASAP! Overall this restaurant has a nice variety of food (not just Spanish), the service was decent they were very patient with our Spanish speaking skills and picture taking and the interior is adorable. I will definitely be taking all of my friends here!

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Madrid. Great for brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks. If you can, try to sit downstairs in the beach room. Such a fun atmosphere and the food is to DIE for!!!! Amazing patatas bravas, delicious macncheese and chicken sandwich !!!! Highly recommend. They also do pitchers of Sangria. You can take your shoes off in the sand it's so cute!!

Yelp
I got a classic burger and added an egg and cameout perfect just how I like it well cocked and tasty

Yelp
Oh man this place was amazing. The breakfast, coffee and orange juice was amazing and very affordable. The waiters were very nice and polite and were there as soon as you need them. Was very impressed by the quality of food for the price. Came here twice during our week long trip and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Amazing ambience and drinks. Stopped by for dinner with my gf and got a tableground by the fake beach. Food: lots of choices and very reasonable in prices. We had the viet sandwich, kale salad and the bravas. We also ordered mimosa and aperol spritz, and of course th fruit crumble to end the night. The bravas were beyond, definitely stand out of the night. My viet sandwich was also pretty good, and definitely great in portion size. Ambience is so much fun, I wish this kind of place existed in Toronto. Ojala, you will be missed.

Yelp
Good ambience. Great drinks. Especially the Berry mojito is a catch and a specialty. But I don't know about anything else, because I haven't eaten here before. But heard it's good!

Yelp
My husband and I went to Ojalá on a Sunday night for some drinks and a small dinner. The restaurant was adorable with interesting interior design on the open door patio. We ordered a liter of beer and it came out in a beaker! Very cute. We ordered the guacamole, chicken tacos, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
Really really great place. Been for breakfast and brunch a few times and also in the evening for drinks and it's always great. Staff are friendly, decor and atmosphere is relaxed and chilled, and the food is great. Get a smoothie, it's well worth it. There's also free wifi, the wifi password is sanandres (the name of the street).

Yelp
Ojala is one of those many hidden gems of Malasaña. My friends and I would come here and relax on the sandy beach themed bottom floor of the restaurant. We'd kick back, take off our shoes, and enjoy the delicious cocktails and appetizers. The prices are fair for what you pay for and the service is actually good in comparison to traditional Spanish service. If I ever moved back to the city, Ojala would be one of my first visited restaurants.

Yelp
Beautiful decor in a great location. Try anything on the menu with the tomato relado - delish. Speedy service!

Yelp
Fun bar and restaurant with a beach bar in the cellar. Good cocktails and good fun, great music even if the staff weren't too friendly. The upstairs restaurant looked and smelled pretty good as well.
