Where to Stay in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"I found this super social hostel great for meeting people — it organizes events like beer pong, communal meals and pub crawls; dorms are basic but the beds are comfortable and the place is kept very clean." - Matthew Kepnes

The 7 Best Hostels in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"Situated in the La Latina neighborhood, I found this a fun, social hostel that makes it easy to meet other travelers through rotating events like walking tours, bar crawls, and group dinners; there’s also a bar on-site. The beds are comfy with thick mattresses, individual reading lights, outlets, storage, and privacy curtains (only on the bottom bunks). There’s a fully equipped kitchen and a filling breakfast buffet for €6, and I recommended it as the Best Hostel for Solo Female Travelers in my list." - Matthew Kepnes

İt was my first Spain jornay and Ok hostel was perfect for staying. They are giving you a guide that how you going airport and where can be visited in town, also a train lines map. I was vert exited so I forgat some needed like towel🤭 I bought a towel from a shopping store( I wished I didn't🫩) because Ok hostel is giving you towel for a little price. So when you get there don't do my mistakes, you can ask evetything Ok hostel stuff, they ara so kind and hospitable, they are lending you lock for free and when you check out you give them back and tea, coffe free. İt is near Plaza Mayor, you can go everywhere by walking and also it is near by train station. Thank you all Ok Hostel staff

I stayed in a private room at this hostel and had a great experience. The room was clean and the location is excellent — only a few minutes’ walk from many of Madrid’s main attractions. The room isn’t fancy, but it’s a hostel after all and the important thing is that everything was well-kept and comfortable. What really makes this place stand out is the staff … I’d give them 100/10! They are some of the most helpful and cheerful receptionists I’ve ever met, always smiling and friendly. Special thanks to Esteban and Annia, who took the time to explain everything about the city and made me feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend this hostel for a short stay in Madrid.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel, thanks largely to Annia, who made my experience truly stand out. Apart from her stunning beauty, she's incredibly professional and friendly, explaining everything smoothly. The locker rooms are free, and breakfast is included if you book directly with the hostel. You can use the kitchen at any time, and there's free tea and water available all day. Breakfast is served from 8-11 am. My only minor gripe was with the guy wearing eyeglasses at the front desk, who seemed a bit rude. However, the location is fantastic – it's right next to the metro station and within a 15-minute walk from the busy area. Despite that one interaction, I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Great vibes, very sociable. Staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good. The dinners and bar crawls are good. The only things I did not like are that top bunks don’t have a privacy curtain like lower ones. Also, there is nowhere to put your makeup or toiletries. You only have a sink with no table to cabinets to place stuff while doing your makeup.

I am a single woman and felt very good staying here for four nights. The staff goes above and beyond to help you, and I enjoyed the group dinner one night which was a fun way to meet others. The location is also great — it is near everything. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others.

No curtains on top bunks so if 1 person’s light is on it ruins everyone’s sleep, the room is super crowded and tight, the AC doesn’t work, wifi doesn’t work, people are loud at 1:30am (the time I’m writing this review at) The service is great and the place is clean, but how does that equate to a 4.6 star rating? This is the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had unfortunately, and more frustrating knowing that most of the problems can be addressed just by ADDING CURTAINS

Okay 👍 didn't like the way they asked to see my ticket for breakfast that energy wasn't kind and loving , hostels shall so better and treat guest with love and like family 💝 that's the point of hostels it's not about money it's about warmth .

Yelp
Also called "Ok Hostel." This was a great place to stay. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. As a single woman, I felt very safe and taken care of. I love that the front desk is there 24 hours a day and monitors the front door (they buzz people in). The breakfast is a great deal (currently at 6 Euros) and had eggs, bacon, beans, pastries, coffee drinks, and cereal. I also had the optional group dinner which was a great way to meet other travelers. What else could you want. Location? Check! It is near everything. Cleanliness? Yep! The maids check the rooms twice a day. Sheets and a towel are included. If I go back to Madrid, I know where I will be staying.

Yelp
This is the BEST hostel I have ever stayed in. It has a hotel vibe, with their own bar, and dinning area. There are couches and even a bed in the front area. Wifi is fast The rooms are clean and comfortable. I especially love their wrist band key chain (regular keys are easy to lose) It is located in the central La Latina area, easy walk to everywhere, including train station and metro stations. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Gongalo was the person at checkin. He was extremely RUDE! Room wasn't ready so I went to the cafe. He asked me to move because someone else wanted the table. I then felt threatened the way he spoke to me. He also made me lay the cancellation fee and I asked him to call me a taxi he refused. He was yelling at me I felt unsafe so I left. He also blocked the WiFi so I couldn't call a taxi. Rude and unprofessional AVOID this place.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying that that I'm comparing this hostel to its sister hostels in Lisbon and Barcelona because it's basically a chain. If I compare , this hostel is just not as good. CONS: The bathrooms are tiny and end up covered from top to bottom in water no matter how carefully you shower. Literally ceiling to floor. THERE ARE NO EXTRA BATHROOMS/SHOWERS ON ANY OF THE FLOORS. The only bathrooms you have access to are the one in your room and the one in the lobby. I don't know how the rooms with 10-12 people managed. The dinner is cheap but not amazing. The best part is being able to meet people. The lighting in the rooms is horrible and there are no full length mirrors. The sink is outside the bathroom and is very loud so it's hard to use without waking people up at night. PROS: The hostel location is awesome, you can literally walk anywhere, no need for public transportation. The staff, like at the sister hostels, is amazing. They make you feel special and at home. The AC went out during my stay and they fixed it fast and were moving people to different rooms where the ac worked when asked, but only when asked repeatedly. The walking tour and pub crawl are A+. I learned so much about Madrid and had a great time going out. The beds are super comfortable. All in all, not my favorite hostel and there may be better options in Madrid. It's just ok...like the name...pun intended.

Yelp
I've stayed at many hostels over the years and this one is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful and the accommodations are minimal but nice. A bathroom in our room was so convenient too!

Yelp
So this was my first experience in a hostel. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. They did not have early check-in but they did have a room where I could store my luggage until check-in. They gave me a map with main attractions and suggested a nice little spot for lunch (which I'll be reviewing later). They did offer bar crawl tours and things of that nature which is helpful if your a solo traveler, as I was, to meet new people and get oriented with your surroundings. Now to the room. My room had 4 bunks, a small sink, a small seated area with a mirror and a very tiny bathroom. Now the bathroom size wouldn't have been an issue if there was a designated or curtained area to get dressed, which they didn't. After showering, no one wants to get dressed in a steamy, tiny bathroom. So I had to lay in my bunk, close the curtains and get dressed. Aside from that small but important issue, the hostel was lovely. Clean, fun and friendly.

Yelp
The owner of the hostel remembered is the whole time we were there. The staff was amazing and the people and atmosphere are just as wonderful. I'd definitely recommend this place and will be staying here again!
