O'Keefe's Bar & Grill

The key to enjoying O'Keefe's is to leave behind any expectations around ambiance and fancy frills. But it's a damn good local bar, with excellent drinks, happy hour deals, and surprisingly good bar food. This used to be my go-to happy hour spot when I worked in the area, and it took me months before I even knew it was called O'Keefe's because there's no signage. Whatever signs exist are there to advertise the available drinks, happy hour deals, and daily specials. That, and TV screens in every corner (most plugged into the sports channels). But don't let that fool you into thinking this is some gruff and dirty hole in the wall. Drinks are reliably good and the bartenders really know what they're doing around cocktails. Service has always been prompt, even when they're at their busiest. Best of all, whoever's in the kitchen needs some serious props because they elevate bar food to a whole new level. I've ordered wings nearly every time I've come, and you know they're good when all conversation 'round the table pivots to some version of 'How good are these wings?!' The honey garlic is easily my favorite, but I've never had a bad flavor. It seems silly to praise a bar for their fries, but they're excellent here too - starchy, screaming hot from the fryer, and perfectly salted. That said, ignore the healthier options. A Caesar salad came with just a handful of croutons and an absolute deluge of dressing that rendered the lettuce underneath nearly inedible. The space inside is larger than it looks outside. The front area has plenty of high tables and seating by the bar, while there are lower two- and four-tops towards the back (where the air conditioning is a little better felt since they tend to keep the windows and doors wide open by the entrance). There's also a second floor space, but I've never ventured up since I've always managed to find seating below.

So delicious! Food was piping hot and waitress was super sweet. Def on my list of fav restaurants in the area!

I love going here on the weekends/end of week and seeing Kaylee and Courtney on the tables. They are always welcoming and make me laugh. I’m happy I’ve found this place after working in the area for so long. Food is really good for a dive bar. Definitely my new regular spot!

Popped in to watch Newcastle play. The servers were excellent, really friendly. Went out of their way to find us a channel to watch the game and gave us a table at the back so we could hear it. Prices were reasonable and the soft pretzel was good, but too much for us as we'd had a heavy night the night before and were feeling a little queasy. Good bar, worth a look.

Spend time with the family here and loved the time at the bar. Great service, nice and relaxed atmosphere and the food was totally as expected. Would recommend this place!

Neighborhood bar vibe. Wasn't expecting gourmet food. Had the steak sandwich which has been recommended. Not good. Waitress barely spoke English. Waited 20 minutes to get out check despite only 4 other people in the place.

I don't know what it was about today but the wings weren't that great. They weren't fried as crispy and got soggy really fast. The mild sauce was a little off as well. Tried the artichoke dip nachos and calamari. They were good. Needed a little salt but nothing much. Ill still come back because the first time was just sooo good. Everyone is entitled to an off day right?

I haven't been here in YEARS and they need to do BETTER!How you ONLY have one bartender!During lunch/happy hour it's like she didn't notice me at first?Because she was only focused on my right side her left!Only gave me ketchup and not also salt? I don't believe I should have to ask for a hamburger French fries order.She was nice, so I decided to give her a tip!Next time, if it's not better, not so much!

Standard bar, the wings were ok not as crispy as other places make the wings. Ordered a margarita, it was a little too sour

We love that this spot opens until 2am daily, which leaves you with little options in the neighborhood. We came in for a late night bite and drinks. The AC was also blasting, which was much needed on a hot summer night. We had a few rounds of drinks ($9-10), which was reasonably priced and bartender was great about checking in. For food, we ordered the 10pcs Medium Wings ($14), Onion Rings ($8), and Mac & Cheese ($8.95). The mac and cheese was kind of petite and the wings were a bit on the tougher side, but sauce was good. The thing I loved here was the onion rings, which came in a huge basket. They were super crispy yet easy to bite into without losing the entire onion inside (iykyk). This will probably become one of our regular late night spots, especially for these onion rings!

Clean inside, friendly staff, & nice old school vibe. Nice blend of all kinds of patrons of all walks of life, here in the hub across from Borough Hall. Delicious food - soups, salads, & sandwiches, w/ fair prices & portions. I somehow always slept on this place, but now I will def be back! Note: weird mix of music - cld def use more jazz / swing / big band.

One of the only Manhattan-Style Irish bars in the area, with your typical Irish pub & grille type menu, complete with a terrific steak sandwich!! I find that all my fave steak sandwiches are from Irish joints. The menu had lots of appealing choice, but I went with the "can't-go-wrong" O'Keefes Steak sandwich: ribeye cooked to preferred temperature, mozz, sautéed onions, peppers, shrooms. All on garlic hero. Delish! As was the French onion soup! Even the leftover soup part, ha! At many places the broth is bland and left behind once the bread and cheese is gone, but this onion soup was actually really tasty-so much that we were both dipping our sandwiches in it! My husband got a pulled pork grilled cheese on special. He liked it. I'm not really into Smokey-bbq flavor, or bbq sauce, so not necessarily my pick, but I tasted it and could see people loving it!

Average, cookie cutter sports bar, nothing special at all. I'd be happy to give it three stars, but what makes this place especially terrible is the service. The entire staff makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by acknowledging your presence every 30 minutes or so. A few were trying, but the majority were so inhospitable that I can't imagine giving this place any of my business moving forward. Do yourself a favor and skip O'Keefe's.

This reliable neighborhood bar should really clean up more given the lack of sports bars in the area. It's a breath of resh air and relief with jerseys and banners hanging on walls, plenty of space, and TVs lining the bar. I imagine it gets busy on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, but it was a perfectly civilized place to throw back a few beers and watch baseball. The food is expected pub grub, plenty of hearty favorites. Stick with the standards and you'll be satisfied.

Worst bar experience ever, took 15 mins to get service at an empty bar while servers were chatting on the other end. Even ignored me while I tried to get their attention. The White customers next to me, who came in afterwards, had no problem getting prompt and hospitable service, however. Coming to this bar made me regret leaving the house - never again.

This place has been around since before the gentrifiers flooded the area. This was a working man's bar when I was a kid. it was one of several on Court Street. There was another bar where the Now closed movie theater is and the next block also. This is the last neighborhood bar left that serves regular drinks to regular people

Me and my friends went to celebrate my new job and we got very rude service from the waitress. The manager did nothing to address her rude behavior. Thank you for ruining our afternoon. WILL NEVER GO OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AGAIN.

Got the chicken Caesar wrap delievered. Came pretty quickly, it was okay probably wouldn't get again. Fries were good.

The "Bar" has always been the go to spot for my wife and I for years! It's been our Friday after work Buffalo Wings, Sliders, Chili Cheese Fries, and The Coldest of Beers decompression zone!

Highly recommend the burgers! Nice cool spot to go and enjoy a drink after work, but don't sleep on the delicious food!

I will never go here again. I was charged for a drink that was not mine. When I tried to talk to the staff (my server Jane, Taylor the bartender, and a male bartender) on June 16, 2023 around 4pm, I was called a liar and said I had to pay for the drink. The male bartender threatened to call the cops on me because I was explaining to them this drink wasn't mine and said how embarrassing that would be for me. I asked them to pull cameras to show proof that that drink was not served to me. They refused to pull the cameras and instead called me a liar and said I'm never allowed back. This was such a traumatizing and terrible experience. I don't recommend going. This is not the first time something like this has happened at this bar. Save your money

The drinks are good, the bartenders are nice and the vibe is cool but the happy hour is basically just beer and the food is your typical frozen bar food (fries and mozza sticks and chicken fingers which are hella dry). So come for a drink or two, but don't get food and don't expect a happy hour menu.

Great local bar near downtown. Beers were cold. Drink pour was generous and the burger was excellent. Bartender was attentive and friendly. What more can you ask. I would recommend highly

For a big group, I ended up just walking out rather than order. This could apply to more bars and restaurants than this particular place, but maybe it bares highlighting how frustrating group bills are at places with outdated and the uniquely NY practice of not offering individual bills for what individuals order. Following a professional event with some forty people, we wandered in to keep the good times rolling. When I started ordering I got put in a weird position by stagg of having to figure out who is at what table ordering what food so their waiters could have the right tips from table service. Mind you, I was ordering at the bar. When I relayed the message their staff should have handled to some people in my group - strangers mind you, since its a group- some were rightfully confused and said 'eh, not my problem.' I didnt want to deal with whatever mess the bill would be at the end, or ensuring the tip for the staff wasnt coming out of some unsuspecting last person standing. I just left. NYC needs to figure out better group bill policies. I think we've all felt strained to handle this awkwardness of people ordering different things and subsidizing folks who dont want to be subsidized but also dont want to do the math.

Depends on the bartender the big older white guy is great I believe his name is John I'll pass on the others.Not friendly not much personality can tell they hate their jobs

My bf and I stopped here to just watch the game for a bit. Super nice and big inside with flat screen TVs everywhere. Perfect sports bar! Ordered the crock of French onion au gratin. Soo yummy!

We needed a spot to meet some friends and we ended up here. It was honestly so fun. Great drinks, tons of beer options, the bar tender, Damian, was cracking us up and the playlist was on point! I wish we had more spots like this in LA.

Love this bar but the waitress at 4:45 pm seated and served this lady that said she only had her Vaccination card but left her ID at work(LIE).  Putting all other patrons in danger of COVID!

This is a good old fashioned bar. There are regulars, newbies, day drinkers and great bar food. There is a bouncer wed through the weekend and rarely ever more that 2 bartenders at a time. It's a little homey and lived-in. No hooks on the bar for your purse, the counter is large so you've gotta slump over to eat at the bar, some of the chairs wobble, and the bathroom is tiny and run down. The drinks are a bit pricey, there are a few large flat screens around and a jukebox for music. So why 4 stars? It has great bar food and good energy. Wanna hide away in the back and destress, sure, sit at the left corner table behind the bar. Wanna scream at you're favorite team on TV, feel free, pull up a chair at the bar and check out what's on tap. Or wanna meet with your crew and talk the night away, no problem, grab a high table on the right. Now let's talk food... BEST Wings in the area hands down! Meaty, well cooked, evenly divided and fresh. I like them dry with sauce on the side skin they stay extra crispy. Classic yet tasty sauce choices so you cant go wrong. The turkey burgers are the bomb. Always juicey and filling. The fries are simply delicious. I like the shoestring but the waffle are a strong second. Crispy, hot and made to order, salty, potato-ey goodness. They are a must. So if you're in the area, stop by, pull up a chair get comfy and stay a while. All are welcome and you won't regret it.

Decent spot for happy hour food and drinks. Despite the location on Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn, the vibe is that of a neighborhood watering hole, as opposed to the corporate commercialism on display in the area. I came through last week with friends for taco Tuesday. 3 tacos for $3 is a great deal, and the tacos got the job done. They are on the small side, so consider getting several orders. Drink prices were reasonable, certainly cheaper than at artsy hipster joints, but with the corresponding reduction in selection. Note that they start a separate tab if you move from the bar to a table, do be sure to settle both at the end!

Probably my least favorite of all the bars I visited in the NYC area. Service was okay. Honestly best part to me was the boar on the wall. (Reminded if the new Walker TV show boar in their bar).

You don't have to be an attorney or law student to grab a bite or have a drink here. Happy hour prices are a thumbs up. Or just sit in the back and order food. Different groups of people/friends can stand around the bar but not be on top of each other. I have had the wings a few times here and I like them. Good: -Happy Hour = $1 off all drinks -Nicely sized spaced -I order the 20 wings for a few bucks more than the 10 piece (bring the rest home) -Beers come out as fast as you can drink them Bad: -Being PICKY...you can only get one type or one sauce on your wing order (can't order 20 and say 10 hot/10 BBQ)

Ordered on uber eats waited an hr was so excited and hungry got my order and guess whattt...dang order is wronggggggg!!! Wth and the only thing right was my steak order which had no flavorrrrr not even salt n pepperr wthhhh annoying as hell. Uber will return my money but I waited an hr for the wrong stuff annoying n what I got isn't even delish.

Place is terrible. Terrible food, service and floors are always sticky. It's a nearby place but I'll go anywhere else but there.

The service is horrible. Me and two of my friends sat at the bar and ordered three shots for $7 each, we were watching the nba playoff game so we were pacing ourselves with drinks, we were there maybe 30 minutes and the bartender was harassing us and rushing us out saying he needed the seats when there was no one even waiting for them. He was very rude and I believe it was racially motivated since we were one of the few black people seated at the bar. Also we spoke to the manager and he was no help and could offer nothing but apologies which didn't even come off as sincere. He offered no solution whatsoever. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

The sliders were amazing here all though I think its a special also the menu needs to be updated on the website.

Found this place on yelp but was pretty disappointed ultimately. The place was extremely loud, service was slow (and the waitress seemed like she did not want to be there at all), and food was low quality/not good. No napkins or silverware were provided or available. The waitress didn't come to check in on us and after waiting over 20 minutes for the check, we just went downstairs to close out. The wrong order was also brought out. We will not be returning.

A nice laid back bar to grab a drink and a really good burger and fries. The bar tenders are always friendly and the service is quick.

I want to love this place so bad, but it's hit or miss constantly. The food is great some days and awful the next. I do however love their wings. That's all they can get right. But let's talk service, it's just plain awful. At the end of the day their waitresses are like a revolving door and they have yet to get one attentive one. It's not brain surgery. The bar can be empty and there isn't a person to be found. I keep returning here because it's a quick convenient spot, just wish their service and food was more up to par.

Great place to grab lunch, or simply come after work and unwind.. ms. Edel the bartend was amazing and very charming.... the French onion soup was the best I've had in a very long time and they kept It simple and traditional, which is a nice thing in these modern days of cuisine.. Plenty of tv's for game nights and two levels for plenty of room and comfort... I would definitely recommend this spot for all your needs ...

Stopped in for the first official lunch of vacation. Just wanted good ambiance and good food--and got both. Cozy pub atmosphere. I had Turkey club and waffle fries with Sam Adam's Seasonal--good basic lunch, everything done well. It wasn't crowded as we were after the normal lunch crowd and we sat at the barso we had great, very attentive service.

Great place to go watch a game and have a beer. I'm from Massachusetts and the interior makes me feel like I'm home. The prices for alcohol are great and I really like the food. My only issue is that the bouncer even after letting me in came to the bar to have me id again I had three copies of identification on me! Little embarrassing but I understand because I do look young.

Good for happy hour, parties, or just watching a game! Came on a Friday night. There were only available seats in the back. I believe there is a second floor too! The bar is dim and there are about 14 HD screens hanging on the walls that show different sport events. In the beginning, the servers were really unattentive. We went up to the bar to ordered the drinks from the bartenders. Later on, a waitress started coming to us and asking if we needed something. Their drinks are cheaper than most bars I've been to (Blue moon and Corona were $7 each and patron silver shots were $10 each). We didn't get any cocktails but they range from $9-$12. The only problem was their food. We only ordered chips n' guac ($8) and mozzarella sticks ($11). The chips were stale and the guacamole was bland. They served it with salsa on the side too. Had a fun night though!

"O'Keefe's Bar & Grill" is legit! It is a Sports Bar like no other. I'd like to tell you my story. Parking is a huge issue around the business district, so I'm lucky I got there early. After a short walk it was hard to see the place because they don't have the name displayed above the building, just on the black glass windows, which is hard to see. Coming inside I immediately became excited with the look of the place. It's very modern and very clean with TV's everywhere. They even have a second floor with more TV's playing. When I was ready to sit there wasn't that many spots open because this place does business. They offered us at table and we took it. The waitress was incredibly nice and helpful, she was at my table often and cared about my enjoyment. The owner even walked up to the table and asked where we wanted to watch the Giants game. What! I thought that's cool. He was a really stand up guy and I'm not just saying that because he's obviously a Giants fan. What was better then the staff and look of the place was the food. I was completely taken back by how good it was. The popcorn shrimp was incredible and the sauce they used with it. Also the buffalo wings were delicious. They used a honey garlic sauce that was to die for. Finally my burger, now that was a burger. It had crunchy bacon, plenty of cheese and the onions were sautéed well. This place does sports well. I was completely satisfied and will return. What would make this visit better is if the Giants come away with a win.

Mediocre Irish pub, actually it is more of an American sports bar and grill despite of an Irish name. It lacks all the traditional Irish food staples: Corned Beef & Cabbage Casserole Dublin Coddle Beet Cabbage & Pecan Salad Irish Soda Bread Shepherd's Pie Shamrock Salad Whiskey Cake Irish Colcannon Irish Potato & Leek Soup Potato Farl Boxty Saturday night out in town with party of two. We dined to bacon grilled cheese $8.70 and one turkey burger $11.95. No alcohol intake for either of us. My turkey burger was okay as it was not juicy but MEH. Service is extremely too efficient as upon sitting down we did not have time to scan thoroughly the menu to make a selection.

(this is all before rona) went with my dad since it was the only place to eat after my physical therapy up the block, I think it was like 1pm. I had a sandwich and my dad had the steak dish. Solid food for a hub in that busy area. Bartender with the tatta was cool.

Best wings in Brooklyn! Grab a few friends have a couple drinks and order the wings. You will not be disappointed. You can select some music in the jutebox and have urself a really good time.

Great space inside and nicely decorated for the holidays . The food was decent bar food . The service was extremely efficient. The sports fans were highly enthusiastic. I would definitely go back .

Good place to catch a game and chow on some bar food. Servers were friendly and drinks were reasonably priced. On my first visit, I asked the bartender for some food recommendations, and got the loyal "everything's good here" response. Knowing that couldn't possibly be true, I was back to square one and perused the menu again. A friend and I ended up splitting an order of the buffalo calamari, which was a tad rubbery, but well-sauced, and accompanied by some bleu cheese for dunking. Their buffalo sauce is VERY sweet here, to the point we almost mistook it for BBQ sauce. If you're looking for some heat, you may want to ask them for a side of Frank's Red Hot or similar.

We reserved the 2nd floor of the bar. It was so easy to reserve, they didn't even require a down payment. My boyfriend and I were throwing a surprise farewell party. We got there early to decorate. The server Kaylee was immediately asked if we needed assistance. Once the party got started, Kaylee was extremely attentive and helped us every second along the way. Every person in our 20+ people party enjoyed the food and drinks and ambiance. We would 100% host another event here

Came here for a 3rd time with a co worker & the I had the blackened salmon with veggies which was just string beans & carrots & yellow rice. The salmon was eh, the veggies were eh & the rice just wasn't good. My co worker had honey garlic wings which was good & waffle fries. I wish I would've got that. Since this is a bar, I guess it's not good to order anything besides finger foods.
