The Best Camping in Georgia, From Stone Mountain to Savannah

"Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge stretches across 353,981 acres, a unique ecosystem that is home to hundreds of different species of plants and animals, some endangered. With nothing but wildlife for miles, Okefenokee offers one of the most peaceful and quiet campsites in Georgia. The refuge has seven overnight shelters as well as two islands in the swamp interior that you can reach by canoe to pitch your tent. Fun fact: there are approximately 15,000 alligators living in the Okefenokee Swamp."

This park is gorgeous!! Definitely worth the drive! We did the sunset tour and Gordon was amazing! Food there is reasonably priced too. Can't wait to go back! ☺️

This place is such a gem. The have captive and free roaming alligators, an informative animal show, a squeaky but fun train ride, and an exciting boat ride through the swamp. They also have a few other small exhibits around and a pretty impressive alligator Skelton. RIP Oscar. The food was actually killer and there is water and bathrooms available. Take sunscreen and bugspray and legit be careful because there really are alligators just roaming around. The water is black because of the leaves so you can't see much under there. They said you see the most mid Nov.

We absolutely loved it here. We would go back a million times over. The only thing I do have to pre warn if you drive the trail to the tower, then walk to the tower. I suffer from motion sickness and both the drive and walk on the bridge made me nausea. Very much not at fault of the park!

This place is great, a modern day Jurassic park and all you have to do is get to southern Georgia somehow. My only suggestion...Get on a damn boat!
