This must have been among the worst hotel experience that we - very frequent travellers - had in a long long time. I will limit this review to the facts, in order of importance and I am keen to see if the hotel staff or leadership will respond professionally and solutions-centric. We had room 203 on the second floor.
First up: the mattress is worn out, cheap, has got unpleasent bedding, smells badly and it just makes sure you cannot sleep. Furniture is incredibly cheap, of plastic, and the
Second most important: upon check out we reported everything to the receptionist but she could not care less. All she did was handing us the credit card terminal. She did not apologize, did not offer a solution, did not confirm she will pass on the feedback to the leadership; she was just completely uninterested in the wellbeing of her guests.
Third up: the bathrooms in this hotel must be the most stupid design one can think of. The walls are of transparent glass; your partner sitting on the bed sees you sitting on the toilet - looking straight into each other's eyes. The bathroom is everywhere dirty and moulded, see my photos. It is terrible. The door does not close, just to ensure you have no privacy. As a matter of fact, you cannot even close the door once you are in the bathroom, because there is no door handle. This bathroom, by designer Patrick Norguet, is one of those terrible designs that may look fancy in a rendering, but absolutely do not work in the reality of a hotel. The dirt and mould are not the fault of the cleaning staff; the design contains so many grooves and stupid details that it is impossible to keep this bathroom clean. Showering here is an outright bad experience.
Four: the lighting. It does not get less comfortable. When you are in bed you are looking straight into a bare light bulb. The one who planned this clearly did not try out anything.
Five but still important, are the parking (you have to reserve but the hotel does not make that clear upon booking and moreover charge 16 euro), the lifts (they are incredibly slow), the fact that we explicitely picked a room "on a high floor" but got one on the 2nd floor (without any apology or even a remark made), the tiny tv set (you cannot read the sub titles when you are in bed), the air conditioning (it does not work and dear hotel staff please don't tell me again it does work) and the location (which is advertised as "in the city centre", see the name of the hotel, but it definitely is not).
All together: a very bad experience. I won't mention the emotions, the bad mood the next morning and all those other outcomes of such a bad night, but I will reach out to the management of Okko to ask how they propose to make it good. Because selling hotel nights like this is simply unacceptable.
