I am currently staying at the hotel. This morning at exactly 7:00 a.m., I was woken up by a call from the wake-up service, and the sound of the phone startled me awake. However, I had never requested any wake-up call. Since I am sick and also on holiday, sleep is extremely important for me. When I went down to the reception and explained that I had not made such a request and asked to see the record, they showed me a screenshot indicating that a wake-up request had been entered — but it was not clear who had entered it.
The receptionist told me that this request had supposedly been made over the phone, but since the moment I checked into the room, I have not even touched the phone — let alone called reception — and I was not even aware of it until it rang. When I expressed how disturbing this situation was and that it had ruined my much-needed sleep, the receptionist simply said that all they could do was apologize.
I do not want to generalize, but the local staff seem to be quite far from basic courtesy. Therefore, if you plan to make a reservation at this hotel, I strongly recommend that you clearly state in advance that you do not use the wake-up service; otherwise, they may arbitrarily wake you up at the crack of dawn.
