Great neighborhood spot serving some fun and exciting options. We each had the udon and an onigiri on the side, and both were super delicious! The udon noodles were tender and chewy, and the broth was savory and satisfying. Loved the onigiri as well and will definitely come back for more. Seating is limited and first come, first served so plan accordingly.

If you’re looking for a cozy spot with seriously good Japanese comfort food, Okome House in South Minneapolis is it. Tucked into the Longfellow neighborhood, this place serves up all the good stuff—onigiri, donburi, udon—and does it really well. We tried three dishes: Tori Karaage (fried chicken) – Crispy, golden, and coated with a miso-soy glaze. Juicy thigh meat inside, crunchy outside, and the green onions on top gave it just the right pop of flavor. Shrimp Tempura Udon – The broth here is light and comforting, the kind you want to sip until the bowl is empty. The udon noodles were chewy and fresh, and the shrimp tempura added that perfect crunch. Buta Don (pork rice bowl) – This one felt like Japanese comfort food. Tender pork in a sweet garlicky glaze, served over rice with ginger and green onions. The vibe inside matches the food: casual, welcoming, and super easy to order at the counter. No reservations, no fuss, just good food in a laid-back setting. Overall, Okome House is one of those neighborhood gems you want to keep coming back to. If you’re in the Twin Cities and craving Japanese comfort food that feels both fresh and authentic, this is the place.

Google
Best Donburi I’ve ever had easily. I tried the curry (pictured), chicken (Tori don) and pork (Buta don), and the pork was by far the best. One of my new favorites! The patio was also very cute.

Google
Wonderful food experience! Food, service, and atmosphere were all A+. My first time and they were so patient explaining all the dishes, etc. Definitely will be back often! 🔥❤️ (Pics: Onigiri combo, Tori Karaage, Tori Don, Taiyaki with mochi ice cream)

Google
Se were very excited to try it as we recently came back from a trip to Japan.. we were disappointed.. very tasteless.. the broth needs more flavor, the onigiri filling more salt.. our favorite was the seaweed salad and the fried shrimps from my udon. Portions were a good size.

I think the establishment's strength is onigiri because they not only have a variety of different toppings, but also have reasonable prices that would allow economical planning. Since it is located in a residential area, I can see how people who live around South Minneapolis can easily visit for a quick bite. As much as the onigiri had good flavor, I felt like other dishes were more mediocre. For example, the Buta Don had pork that texturally didn't go well with the rice because it wasn't a part of the pig that was the most tender or succulent. The chicken karaage had too much creamy sauce and the chicken itself didn't have as much flavor, as much as it was juicy. I would recommend visitors to capitalize on its onigiri supplies for the most part. A positive aspect I would mention was that I found the sakeru gummy and nagai sakeru gummy (long long man) in the store, and I instantly got it and made a video of myself tearing up the candy. I loved that for sure.

Google
Food was delicious and the location was great. The portions were way bigger than I expected which was a great surprise. Now I’ll know to order less next time. If it’s your first time trying, I recommend the onigiri combo meal.

After living in Japan for 14 years (2009-2023), I have to say that Okome House’s food is the most legit (and best) Japanese food I’ve had in the Midwest. We had edamame, miso shiro soup, atsuage dashi tofu, and takana, yuzu salmon, and une Shoshone onigiri!

Yelp
Stopped in with the 14 year old and got take out. Were veteran poke, sushi, and ramen consumers but this menu had us flummoxed. Would love either more details on the menu, or pictures. Was able to track down images through Yelp and we figured out our order. Staff were friendly though you could tell a bit tired of questions like mine. (But if so, make it clearer elsewhere.) Food was ready quickly. We both had the tempura veggie udon noodles which were good, and then had two tempura shrimp onigiri and two salmon onigiri. All were hits, and he wants to go back. Now that I know a bit more I'd be happy to, but would still welcome more details on the menu!

Yelp
Super cute vibes and good energy. Staff all seemed really chill and everyone I interacted with was nice. Went on a Wednesday night and there were quite a few people so I think it's a popular neighborhood spot. Got the spam onigiri (which I took a bite then remembered to take a photo, whoops) and also the tori don - both were yummy. Next time I want to try more of the onigiri options. There's lots of different things to try on the menu including a fun drink menu and lots of good-sounding desserts. Also the patio is nice for when the weather's nice! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
the udon at okome is great, but i was a little disappointed by the wait time. we had a party of 8 and had to wait over 20 minutes, even though i called ahead of time to place our order. i got the shrimp tempura udon and a japanese drink. the drink was expired, but after realizing, they gave it to us for free. the udon portion size was good and it came with a good amount of seaweed and broth! they also have a variety of donburis and onigiris. parking is convenient - the restaurant is located in the hiawatha neighborhood, close to the minnehaha falls. overall rating: 6/10
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Great location in the Hiawatha neighborhood. There's plenty of free street parking nearby as well. The patio they have is perfect for a nice sunny summer/fall day. They even have a water bowl for doggies, which is considerate. This is a casual order at the counter/self service restaurant so it's perfect for those days you want a 'healthier' alternative from fast food restaurants. We ordered the salmon poke combo meal the beef udon. The combo meal came with a ongiri aka a rice ball of your choice and I got the perilla leaf one and was expecting it to be a whole leaf vs tiny little pieces, which made it difficult to taste the flavor. The beef udon was okay, the noodles were too soft to my liking and the broth was lacking depth. It was nice to finally try this place but I don't know if I would go back often. The food was a bit of a miss for me.

Yelp
Okome House is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the entire Twin Cities. This place is somewhat unique in that, unlike many other Japanese eateries that specialize in Sushi or Ramen, Okome house has a very unique menu that specializes in onigiri, with dozens of flavors. You can also opt for an udon or donburi (rice bowl) dish, but onigri is where Okome house really shines. The best deal here is the "onigiri combo," which comes with three onigiri of your choice and two sides (I highly recommend the wakame salad and the curry). Everything I've tried here is amazing, and my young daughter loves it too. The vast majority of their dishes are also dairy-free. They have a small selection of beer and sake, and even have a happy hour every day with great deals on drinks. The inside is cute, and when the weather is nice, the outdoor patio is amazing. Service is usually fairly quick.

Yelp
The food was great! It was fresh and very tasty. The service was friendly and efficient. However, I downgraded it a star because the restaurant was understaffed. They frequently didn't have enough water or glasses at the filling station and the dishes were not bussed frequently, so the stack of dishes got huge. The atmosphere was cute and welcoming.
google avatar

Susie R.

Yelp
Love the location! It's within walking distance from the falls! Def worth visiting if you are in the area! They offer udon, onigiris, donburi and other sides. Food was decent, very simple. A bit pricey in my opinion. I ordered the onigiri combo which comes with 3 onigiri of your choice, misto, and seaweed salad. I def recommend the Tenmusu! Can't go wrong with tempura. :) The service was great. The servers were super nice and walked me through the menu!

Yelp
We got so excited to try a new place that is Japanese and serving something different than sushi. We love the neighborhood, the place seems welcoming and staff very friendly. Unfortunately the food was bland. Udon was lukewarm. The broth had an unpleasant aftertaste. There are many vegan and vegetarian options which is a plus but I wish they had some dishes that have mushrooms in them. I don't think we will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is cute, neighborhood restaurant. We went in the evening and the place just shined. I'm a fan of hand rolls and wanted to try the onigiri. The restaurant looked busy but people were in line to pick up their togo orders. We were seated in the back. They offered wine, beer, and sake.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool little place nestled into the neighborhood here. Bright and surprisingly spacious inside, with a few tables for outdoor seating. It was very clean inside and tables got bussed pretty quickly from what I saw. Staff were super friendly as we ordered at the counter and when bringing our food. Me and my partner both got the shrimp tempura udon with karaage onigiri and seaweed salad. All were delicious. The noodles were a great texture and exactly what I wanted. The broth was good, too -- I found myself sipping on it for a while after everything else was done, which is unusual for me. The tempura was the real standout for me -- the flavor was fantastic and the fry technique on point. The onigiri was tasty and well-assembled, but to my surprise the seaweed stole the show. A little tangy, bright, and refreshing. Overall we had a great time, were in and out very quickly, and definitely plan to come back again.

Yelp
Just got back from Japan and we were craving Onigiri. Drove here, it's a quiet neighborhood, only street parking, but was easy to find a spot. It's a great set up for a restaurant. Felt very open. Walk up, order, take your number and wait. Food came out as it was done. Highlight was the kareage chicken. Perfectly cooked, tasty sauce. The onigiri was a little bland. Also got the Buta Don, a pork rice bowl. That was really delicious.

Yelp
Not sushi, but Japanese. This hidden gem has interesting Japanese dishes in a casual setting. Tucked away in a South Minneapolis neighborhood, with a grand patio the size of a front yard and an indoor dining area the size of a suburban living room. We had the Japanese udon noodle curry, pork rice bowl - both were stunning. Counter service ordering with table numbers. Great find!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Ongiri and nice patio! The mochi are large and succulent. The miso soup has some great subtle flavor as well as the seaweed salad. Service is prompt and knowledgeable.

Yelp
First time back in a while and our first time eating in! Love love love their onigiri! And they really expanded the menu. Favs: Unagi (with tamago) and the ebi and Mayo. Tried and enjoyed the shrimp tempura onigiri today and that was good, but would eat quickly so it doesn't get soggy (maybe avoid if doing take out). My partner got a combo which they really enjoyed. Small space, fills up fast. Street parking. One level so could be fairly accessible.

Yelp
Okome house is a cute neighborhood restaurant with cafe feel, no frills, quick service and good. I love the location, it's Bikeable from Minnehaha, ample seating inside and a large patio for the summers. Order at the counter. Their menu offers a variety of appetizers, Don Buri, Udon and Onigiri. On this trip we had Udon Soup and Onigiri combo. The Udon is true to Japanese flavors, simple, clean and well balanced- chewy noodles. It's a great dish. It might not be for everyone or for someone who's looking for bold flavors. Onigiri combo meal comes with 3 choices of Onigiri, choice of salad and soup, ours consisted of Kaarage, Ume and Kami Mayo. Ume is unique, it's very in your face sour but fun to try. Onigiri is fun simply for being Onigiri. Okome is a great place for a quick bite of this genre.

Yelp
My friend really hyped this place up, so I was excited to try the food here. I got the atsuage don. While the tofu was excellent, there was cold, unseasoned broccoli in the bowl that didn't add anything to the dish. At least season an ingredient before serving it....Also the egg it came with was hard boiled, cold, and unseasoned. I was expecting a fried or soy marinated soft boiled egg. Price was high, but it's Minneapolis.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
This is my go-to spot anytime I'm craving onigiri! Well to be fair there aren't really any other places in Minneapolis that offer onigiri, but it doesn't take away from how good the onigiri is at Okome House. The eel and salmon are always my favorite, and it's best served eating them fresh right away. Their rice bowls are also really good too but their onigiri is definitely the star.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Maybe one of the most underrated places I have been to. Went here on a split decision with my girlfriend and I, we were able to enjoy great food and atmosphere. There is an area to sit outside and it was a perfect day for it! Food was fantastic - big fan of the onigri and vegetable curry, and was prepared quickly. You seat yourself too so you can decide if you want inside or outside. This being in a neighborhood - it makes sense why they have stuck around! Great food and atmosphere, would come back.
google avatar

Adriana G.

Yelp
I give this place a 4-star. Food was good, service was fine and ambience was also good. I had heard about this restaurant but after coming back from Japan, i was in an urge to have some good onigiris. This is the only place in Minneapolis, that i know of, that serves them. I ordered udon and onigiri combo, the udon was delicious. I loved how the broth wasn't salty, it was just right! The onigiri was a bit disappointing as it was lots of rice and very little tuna, the rice overpowered the tuna mayo flavor. Presentation of the dishes was nice and simple. Patio was clean and spacious. This restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood so it's nice and quiet around, which I appreciated. There's also lots of free street parking. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience here, next time I'll order a different type of onigiri in hopes that it improves.

Yelp
Located just walking distance from Minnehaha Falls, Okome is a cute little Japanese restaurant that is gluten free friendly, affordable and delicious. While it's a small restaurant, there is both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is fresh and flavorful, and I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. The cashier did accidentally order my brother and his wife the wrong item when they had actually ordered sake, but the friendly staff was quick to make it right.

Yelp
Japanese home cooking at its best. Very clean restaurant, nice music, and very polite service. Oh, and the foods really good too. We tried a couple different combo meals with your choice of Onigiri and udon. Combo plate comes with steam chilled broccoli with sesame dressing, pickled daikon. I had the Pirikara Maguro Don which was very delicious. We also split an order of chicken karaage. The Karaage had a nice miso coating that was tasty and unique. Considering all the food we got to sample, with drinks and gratuity all came to around 100 bucks. Not bad considering you can spend that much and more quite easily for very mediocre food at a lot of places. we look forward to going back soon.

Mark H.

Yelp
Great onigiri and udon! Comfortable neighborhood vibe, fun wall photos, and balanced self service
google avatar

Yelp
It feels and tastes like a Japanese home cooking. It's bus your own plates and bowl. Service was good. Food came out fast. Very informal and very neighborly.

Yelp
Stopped by here for dinner last Thursday - the prices are not bad, but the food is relatively mediocre. The udon was actually pretty good! Some people may think it was bland, but I think the taste is more suitable for Asian palates (less salty) versus western palates, so I enjoyed it! The tofu was delicious. The onigiri and karage chicken were disappointing for me. The onigiri was majority rice with barely any salmon inside and the karage chicken was DRENCHED in sauce so it was pretty soggy so I wasn't a big fan. Overall, I don't think I would come here again. There are also a ton of flies inside (not a big deal but just annoying and affected the ambience as we're just trying to eat). Also the service was mediocre - it took them an extra 30 minutes to get the udon out when my friend and I ordered at the same time and we saw others who ordered after us getting their orders before I did. Not the worst thing in the world, but definitely not ideal.

Yelp
Okome house is a SPOT. It has a laid back but kind of cozy vibe. The food is exactly what you would hope for from this kind of place, and exactly what you would expect from a Kyatchi-related kitchen. The ingredients are incredibly high quality, and treated gently to let them shine. They add a surprising and delicious twist to their chicken karaage (fried chicken) by dunking it into a delicious gravy-like sauce. I also secretly hope that they start a trend in the Twin Cities with their onigiri (rice balls). Such an awesome healthy side or snack. Love this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute and dainty counter service restaurant. The vibes are on and the patio is very large. It isn't the biggest menu in the world, but you'll likely find something you like. We got the cauliflower karaage, chicken karaage, shrimp tempura udon, onigiri combo, and pork don. Some things were incredibly salty (both karaage) while the udon was quite bland (yes, even for udon which is usually relatively clean tasting). If I were to order the chicken karaage again, I would ask for the sauce on the side. The pork don was the best item that we ordered. Nothing was even close to bad, just a little heavy or light on the flavor. Overall, the food was good. The price was reasonable. This is a really great option for those who are vegetarian !
google avatar

Lynh V.

Yelp
Cute restaurant in the Longfellow neighborhood. We came on a Friday evening and it was busy! You order at the counter and get a number to bring to your table. Water and utensils were self serviced. There's a patio with plenty of benches and tables as well. The onigiri were overall ok, the best one was the unagi probably because the eel sauce made it the most moist and flavorful. The others were a bit dry or lacked seasoning. I don't normally order udon soup so it was lighter than ramens I usually eat. I thought the shrimp tempura would be crispier even when I had asked for it on the side. Felt like it was the frozen shrimp tempura but just microwaved. We really enjoyed the taiyaki tho! The staff told us to let them know 5 mins before we were ready eat it so they could prepare it. The soft serve ice cream was good and the taiyaki was crisp and warm.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place but I just kinda felt meh. The tofu in the tofu udon was REALLY REALLY sweet. Tasted like they were saturated in maple syrup. Kind of strange they were that sweet for a savory sort of soup. My husband got the pork udon which was just alright. Honestly I felt this was on par with the instant udon from Costco. Nothing special, Probably would not return.

Yelp
Much to my dismay, I was recently told by my doctor that I need to follow a gluten-free diet. As gluten finds its way into so many dishes where you would not necessarily expect it, many of my favorite places to eat out are now out of the question. I'm trying to take this as an opportunity, however, to discover new eateries that offer and are clear about their gluten-free options. Okome House is one such eatery that labels all of the GF options on their menu, which was so helpful, and a large part of the menu was accessible to me. Their specialty is udon, which I had once a long time ago (I got the vegan kitsune udon, which was bland as many vegan adaptations of noodle soup unfortunately are). Of course, as udon is a wheat noodle, I tried some other things this time. I think the best gluten-free part of the menu is their massive selection of onigiri, much larger than I've seen at any other Japanese market or restaurant. I got the atsuage (fried tofu w/ miso), karaage (fried chicken) and yuzu salmon in the onigiri combo with goma-ae and vegetable curry on the side. I thought it was a fairly good deal for the amount of food considering that, with an extra side of rice, the curry makes lunch for the next day. Also ordered was the butadon with an egg, which was pretty good although the pieces of pork were cut a bit too small, and the girlfriend had the pork udon which she said was very flavorful. Okome House is great for those of us who have to follow a gluten-free diet, or just anyone who is looking for authentic but no-frills Japanese food. It's an overlooked spot hidden in a residential neighborhood in South Minneapolis, which I think adds to its charm. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Service was great, comments in photos to give some reason why only 3 star rating from me.

Yelp
This place is clean and has a cool location. It's near Minnehaha Park, which is awesome because I love knowing all the food options near these destinations. It's smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood, so it feels very welcoming. However, I wasn't very impressed with the food. I love Japanese cuisine, but the miso soup was overly cloudy. I am normally not a huge fan of tofu, but I especially didn't like the huge cube in my soup. Also, the bowls were just ok. I didn't hate it, but I also don't think I'll crave or want it again in the future. The decoration on them looks great though!
google avatar

Aaron G.

Yelp
Excellent food but really mediocre service and exceptionally slow even though the location seemed properly staffed. I would try this place again too see if it was just a fluke.
google avatar

Peter P.

Yelp
Ambiance, great indoor and outdoor sitting. Service, excellent. Food, not authentic Japanese cuisine but the onigiri and donburi are good enough for you to want to come again if you are craving for some Japanese meal. Personally, this place is very close to where I live so convenient consideration for an additional star. And to top it off, they serve Japanese beer and sake.

Mark K.

Yelp
I don't often like to give negative reviews of places, but I really didn't enjoy this spot. My wife and I had high hopes based on the other reviews we'd seen here and on other sites, especially for the onigiri, but we left completely bummed out. We come from LA, where our favorite onigiri spot is a small shop, nothing special, big portions, $3-5 each, and the flavor is overwhelmingly delicious. Every bite is close-your-eyes-and-savor-the-flavor. Here, at Okome, the portion size was fine, the price was higher than expected but not crazy, and the service was good. But the food itself was just bland across the board. We ordered 6 different onigiri, and even though we ate there and it was served "fresh", the rice was already stale and basically being held together by the nori. And the flavors? Nonexistent. We bought two extra sides of eel sauce and spicy mayo just in case, and those were the only ways we could get some flavor into the rice balls. Neither of us was proud to HAVE to add sauce, but we did. I'm guessing that the demand for good, flavorful onigiri just isn't in the Twin Cities, but we had genuinely been looking forward to coming here for months and we quickly agreed that we won't come back. The expensive little appetizer dishes (cauliflower, sesame broccoli) were good, and the udon was mediocre but still not worth it for the price. Service was good and the ambience was great with the indoor/outdoor option, but the food needs to be better.
google avatar

Hazel H.

Yelp
I got their kani onigiri which had super fluffy and sweet rice with very savory imitation crab, as well as their tofu udon which was nicely chewy and succulent.

Yelp
A fantastic Japanese fast casual restaurant tucked in a neighborhood. There is street parking and I'm sure an adorable patio in the summer. My bowl was 15 bucks. They also have a cute little market with Japanese snacks including the fun sodas that you pop. The food came out pretty much as soon as we sat down after ordering and it was quite delicious. I definitely plan to come back!
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place, but the food was just mediocre. We got takeout. It took about 20 minutes to prepare our food (as expected), and everything was packaged nicely for easy pick up. The rolls were small, and the curry don was pretty basic. Overall an okay quick meal. Street parking.
google avatar

Dima S.

Yelp
Wow! What an addition to the neighborhood! Japanese cuisine with a variety of curry rice bowl dishes. I prefer the vegetarian/vegan dishes - Atsuage Don - the tofu curry and the curry don, I think it has cardamom flavor - very yummy!!! My son obviously liked the karaage - aka Japanese version of chicken nuggets. My husband liked the lamb curry Ramu Don. I think they sold out within 2 hours of opening so we got lucky to order our dinner. However very understandable since it's the first night of opening. Hopefully, they will be more prepared next time around cause we are coming back!!

Yelp
Delicious. First timer in search of Udon. Pleased to find Okome House near my friends neighborhood. Lots of great early evening light in the no frills but comfortable inside dining. A roll up glass door hints at outdoor dining in warmer weather. Nice selection of menu options. I went with the Udon bowl with pork and fish cakes. Generous amount of tender pork. Broth is two thumbs upward. A return visit is duly noted.

Yelp
Visited Okome house over the weekend and love it! The restaurant itself is cute and it has a bit more of a casual feel to it. It is an order at the counter type of restaurant but food came out very quickly. I ordered the Buta Don and it was delicious! Large portion and very filling. We also ordered the Tori Karaage - it's a must to order! Can't wait to to go back to Okome house!
google avatar

Laurie A.

Yelp
I *wanted* to love Okome house. I adore Japanese food and I am gluten free, so this little neighborhood gem with a menu chock full of sans-gluten Japanese food had so much promise. Unfortunately it was just "meh" for me. We got a sampling of menu items to try. We started with the Tori Karaage and it was the highlight for me. It was salty, sweet, and crispy. Unreal that it is gluten free! For entrees, we got the Tori Don. It was okay - pretty expensive considering the size. The veggies were kind of slimy and hard. The chicken while well seasoned was over cooked. The Atsuage Don was good and the veggies were a bit better. The onigiri was good but had barely any fish inside and lacked flavor. I would go back again to give it another try, but all in all I was not head over heels like I thought I'd be.

Yelp
It's a shame I've taken so long to review Okome House. I LOVE this place. I've eaten in and gotten delivery many times, and all my meals have been delicious. Okome House is a breath of fresh air in the MSP Japanese cuisine scene, serving heartwarming, homey Japanese food. I've seen some of the lower starred reviews and want to point something out: Japanese food is often subtle and focuses on a few specific flavors. Okome House feels (at least to me, not a professional) like an authentic experience. Their food reminds me of dishes we got at izakayas and cafes in Japan. If you prefer super salty/spicy/acidic food, this might not be the level of seasoning you're used to. And the meals are appropriately priced. About this same as a Chipotle burrito bowl with guac. The buta (pork) and bincho maguro (raw albacore) donburi are fantastic. The chicken donburi is also great. I also am weirdly obsessed with their broccoli avocado salad. WHAT is in that dressing? God's tears?? I actually found one of my new favorite teas here: Matcha Green Apple from Yamamotoyama. I believe most of their drinks and snacks are sourced from Japanese companies. The weekend sushi is very solid. I love that the rolls are simple, with a focus on rice and fish. I'm picky about my sushi and I'd say this is one of the better places in the city. Service at the restaurant is chill, polite, and disturbingly speedy. Like, you get food in under five minutes. The first time I was genuinely suspicious they gave me someone's food that was lying around already. But the following visit, my order arrived just as speedily. Even still, I've eaten and hung out chatting with friends for ages with no pressure to rush out. It's one of those perfect neighborhood spots. Highly recommend a low key dinner here.

Yelp
I wanted to like this restaurant. We used to go to this location when it was a pizza place, Parkway Pizza (now on Minnehaha Avenue). Recently, I ordered the shrimp tempura, a dish that I've had before elsewhere and enjoyed. But not this time. As you can see from the accompanying photo, the measly three shrimp tempura are placed atop the udon and broth, so they became completely soggy. Tempura is supposed to be crispy! Why did they do that? I have no idea. Worse than that, when I bit into the shrimp, my first mouthful was all dough. From what I know, tempura is supposed to be coated in a THIN batter. This had way too much. When I pulled the shrimp out of the bowl, dough was sloughing off of them - not a good sign. And even worse still, when I finally got a bite of shrimp, it was rubbery. Truly awful. The broth was okay but a little bland, and the noodles were utterly tasteless, plus they were impossible to eat with a spoon. I imagine they're designed to be eaten with chopsticks. The seaweed in my dish was fine. But overall, one of the worst dishes that I've had in a restaurant in years. I'm sorry, because as I said, I wanted to like this restaurant. But as it is, I'm never going back. Go to Midori's Floating World instead! My two companions enjoyed their food, so perhaps I'm an outlier. But my advice is DO NOT ORDER SHRIMP TEMPURA UDON!! https://s3-media0.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/KkVUqrsKAo3V48uR31I8ew/o.jpg

Yelp
We got there right as they opened. I had the Udon and it was so good! The service is self done. You go up to the counter and order you food. I loved the outdoor dining experience. 10/10 going again.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal for a good price! Udon was fantastic and the onigiri was delicious, service was quick and timely. Really lowkey spot and has a nice small business vibe!

Yelp
Today, I tried it for the 1st time . Okaka Onigiri , Mentaiko Onigiri , Ebi Mayo & Shake Onigiri. Each of them was wonderful, highly recommended. If you have not tried Onigiri ( Triangle shaped Sticky rice ), you definitely should . And don't forget to wrap with the seaweed, together perfect match. They are wonderful snacks and the staple of Japanese snacks all over Japan. I also tried the Donburi , which is Rice Bowl and you choose the ingredients; I did tried Tori- Don , ( Braised Chicken) and Buta- Don ( Braised Berkshire Pork ), each of them has an egg , cooked medium which is good , too bad they are cold. The Donburi also generally in good standard in taste and presentation. In my opinion if they put just a bit more rice , would be better portioning for the price . It's a place great to visit regularly, so we can try different choice each time.

Yelp
This place has amazing price to quality ratio. The broth was flavorful without being overly fatty. Other items were very well executed as well and in total came to a little over 20 bucks. Friendly service and a really awesome patio dining vibe. This is a real neighborhood gem.
