After being turned away (twice) at Ginza Bairin across the street, we ended up here and had a super nice time here. Okonomiyaki is the fried egg batter noodle dish that I definitely want to try at some point. For this evening, however, teppanyaki was the answer. Chef was incredibly skilled and service also hit high marks.
For the teppanyaki, you pick your main protein, then decide if you want the "set" add on (including salad, rice and ice cream for $10 extra, or $13 extra if you want to turn the rice into fried rice - which you absolutely must!).
Red Snapper - whole white fish, cooked super tender under steam and finished with this devlish butter & white wine reduction sauce.
Teriyaki Chicken - whole breast seared and then steamed along with the snapper, topped with tangy house made teriyaki. So good.
Prime Rib Eye Steak - medium rare (of course) one-inch cut, sliced with chef's super razor sharp knife into cubes, then topped with fried garlic slices. Drool heaven here. Comes with two sauces - a ponzu and a nut based brown one. I didn't need either... you might be masking the natural flavor of the beef.
The Fried Rice - yes, it deserves an article because I could eat this each and ever day, and for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It starts with a mound of short grain rice, then he starts the dance: the rice crackles to the beat of chef's two spatulas, forms a volcano shape, adds three raw eggs, mixes in green onions, spices, soy sauce, some other stuff I lost track, the movements are graceful, precise and a thing to behold. The magic ends up in your bowl and your only concern is that it is too hot to gobble up completely and you have to blow the temperature down - a cruel prerequisite to finally tasting perfection.
Ice Cream Choices -
Yuzu sorbet - tart, lemonny and yummy! Green tea - creamier and pretty standard. Tough to really grade since Henry's Place is across the street.
That's all...
