We made a reservation online, it was so easy to make and modify. We showed up about 15 minutes early and were immediately seated. The mixed drinks were great and not too sweet! I hope the pictures of the food speak for themselves. but just in case they don’t… everything was so delicious and the portions were pretty big as well! Will definitely visit next time I am in the area. We had the following: - garlic shrimp, fried rice, and salad - garlic chicken, fried rice, and salad - green tea ice cream - drinks: margarita, Chibo’s tropical punch, and a Scorpion - I was also pleasantly surprised by 2 complimentary green teas Our total was $120. If would have easily been < $100 if we didn’t get mixed drinks or ice cream, but I’m so glad we did! Don’t miss out if you are in the area.

Great place for date nights. All the fun and excitement of a teppanyaki grill restaurant with a smaller and more intimate feel. The bar is also good for conversations over sake. Plenty of dessert shops and bars are in the area if the evening is going well.

Google
Worth the visit! The fruit punch was delicious and we loved the crispy pork gyoza. The tonpeiyaki (pork omelette) was also awesome. It was also entertaining to watch the chef cook it in front of us and have him immediately serve our food hot. Because we were not starving we only ordered one entree, the Yakisoba CHIBO. It was enough to share between two and it was good. Would definitely return if we had time.

Google
The Teriyaki chicken were tender, juicy and covered with a great Teriyaki sauce. The filet steak was well season and tender. I've never been to Japan but yakisoba flavor was not what i expected. It was ok tasting with good amount of ingredients. Okonomiyaki was decent, better than what I've had in the past but I don't know how it compares to Osaka style okonomiyaki in Japan. Apparently they will validate parking across from restaurant.

Google
Garlic shrimp had good flavor and taste. The Okonomiyaki was fine - normal level among what I have had before. The special pineapple and lychee juice was kind of sweet. Needs reservation for dine-in. The counter seats were specially served with the chef cooking right in front of you, but those seats were hard to get reservations.

Google
The okonomiyaki was delicious and the drinks were nice. The restaurant has good service and I enjoyed their big bathrooms. I just didn't like the teriyaki chicken because it was gamey and chewy. They was the only disappointment in addition to everything being very overpriced. I was craving vegetables and this tiny plate of veggies was 20 dollars.

Google
Very friendly and helpful staff. Chef was amazing, both in cooking and in educating us on each dish. All food was incredible, we had garlic fried rice, garlic shrimp, okonomiyaki, crispy gyoza. Highly recommend all of these dishes! Atmosphere was chill and welcoming, even tho small. Parked across street and BOH garage. We will be back for sure. Mahalos for the great experience!

Google
Very good Japanese Teppanyaki place. If seated inside, make sure to get seats by the chefs tables where all meat, fish, veggies and omelettes are cooked to order. Lots of fresh seafood as well as really nice pieces of meat. Slightly over cooked seafood when it comes to the Octopus and Scallop (to our taste), the rest really nicely done. Had a lovely experience, the staff speaking both English and Japanese. Good Sake selection, tasting of 3 for 15 USD. Also very nice selection of Japanese Whisky.

Yelp
Out of all the amazing poke and Japanese food, this was my FAVORITE meal in Hawaii. We stumbled upon this casual teppanyaki spot after seeing the Kau Kau meal on the menu. This pre-fixe course for two came with so many amazing dishes all for $150. When we made it to the restaurant, the servers were so friendly and attentive. We could also tell how skilled the teppanyaki chefs were. The Kau Kau meal first started off with an ahi poke salad, which came with very generous pieces of ahi. The tuna tasted very fresh and high quality. The garlic shrimp was definitely the shining star of our meal. The exterior was perfectly coated in the garlic sauce, and it was so fun watching the chef skillfully cook it. The filet steak was also super tender and well seasoned. Our meal ended with a dessert of our choice. We opted for the mochi and green tea ice cream dessert. It was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Oahu!

Yelp
A cool, small teppanyaki spot in waikiki. Not crowded at all during the week for lunch, can't say for the weekends and at night though. I still made a reservation on OpenTable just in case. They opened at 11:30 and my son and I walked in. The place was run by Japanese so it seemed authentic. However I could sense there could be a little language barrier, but the server understood what I meant and was cordial. I tried their chibo okonomiyakk and their loco moco. The okonomiyaki tasted good with good seasoning, generous amount of veggies, meat and seafood. I would try their Hiroshima style next time as that looked amazing as it was being prepared in front of me for another order. Their salad with the set had a little too much Italian or poppyseed dressing, and I'd rather much a lighter amount, sesame dressing instead. The loco moco was a little bit disappointing. The top and bottom were charred too much, almost black so I had to bite off the burned parts. The mushroom gravy was delicious! Unfortunately the star of the show - the beef patty - wasn't flavorful enough, not much beef flavor, maybe too lean? Overall I'd like to come back for their other okonomiyaki. Plus it's a fun restaurant to see food being cooked and sizzled in front of you!

Yelp
Awesome food! Great Service! A great Japanese lunch/dinner spot for business or casual setting in Waikiki. I ordered the "Chibo" Okonomiyaki. It has a creamy and a slight crunchy texture from the lettuce. Very savory and would highly recommend. The bite sized pieces of seafood with thinly sliced pork adds a nice mix of flavor! Not in the photos, hamburger steak, chicken teriyaki, and "Chibo" Yakisoba are all delicious. It was shared amongst 3 people, all were great in their own way! Service was amazing, smiling and took care of us very well!

Tina H.

Yelp
The best Okonomiyaki EVER! We also had the MOST delicious & perfectly cooked Wagyu beef!

Bernadette H.

Yelp
Visited this place with my fiance during our vacation, and this was super close by our airbnb. We were seated fairly quickly, and the place was on the chill and calm side (maybe because it was a Sunday evening?). We ordered the ahi poke, okonomiyaki chibo, and doutonboriyaki. It was cool watching our chef make it in front of us, just seeing the process. They were absolutely DELICIOUS and so so filling. We decided to share a blue Hawaii and WOW-- it's dangerously good cause you don't taste the alcohol at all. The staff and chef were very kind to us. We will be coming back here when we visit again.

Warrene C.

Yelp
My first time dining here. Brought my coworker here for our year end celebration. He's dined here many times and the staff knows him very well. He ate the Pork Omelette, and I had the Steak-ju. Excellent food and service. It wasn't too crowded which was great. Service was fast and we were out of there in 90 minutes. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. We sat at the bar which was perfect. I even ordered a takeout, the Furikake Ahi, for dinner. My coworker would always grab the Furikake Ahi for me whenever he met up with his friend here for lunch. I definitely want to dine here again.

Noelle H.

Yelp
The steak is so tender. And a miso soup is outstanding. The bartender, Mitoto is so sweet and polite. We were in Honolulu for eight days and we came here at least four times. And each time it was delicious!!! It's a little bit hard to find. It's by Longs drugstore Sooo worth it!

Richard W.

Yelp
After being turned away (twice) at Ginza Bairin across the street, we ended up here and had a super nice time here. Okonomiyaki is the fried egg batter noodle dish that I definitely want to try at some point. For this evening, however, teppanyaki was the answer. Chef was incredibly skilled and service also hit high marks. For the teppanyaki, you pick your main protein, then decide if you want the "set" add on (including salad, rice and ice cream for $10 extra, or $13 extra if you want to turn the rice into fried rice - which you absolutely must!). Red Snapper - whole white fish, cooked super tender under steam and finished with this devlish butter & white wine reduction sauce. Teriyaki Chicken - whole breast seared and then steamed along with the snapper, topped with tangy house made teriyaki. So good. Prime Rib Eye Steak - medium rare (of course) one-inch cut, sliced with chef's super razor sharp knife into cubes, then topped with fried garlic slices. Drool heaven here. Comes with two sauces - a ponzu and a nut based brown one. I didn't need either... you might be masking the natural flavor of the beef. The Fried Rice - yes, it deserves an article because I could eat this each and ever day, and for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It starts with a mound of short grain rice, then he starts the dance: the rice crackles to the beat of chef's two spatulas, forms a volcano shape, adds three raw eggs, mixes in green onions, spices, soy sauce, some other stuff I lost track, the movements are graceful, precise and a thing to behold. The magic ends up in your bowl and your only concern is that it is too hot to gobble up completely and you have to blow the temperature down - a cruel prerequisite to finally tasting perfection. Ice Cream Choices - Yuzu sorbet - tart, lemonny and yummy! Green tea - creamier and pretty standard. Tough to really grade since Henry's Place is across the street. That's all...

Yelp
This place is a bit on the quieter side but don't mistake that for it having bad food. The food here is spectacular, the service is top notch and the portions are the perfect size! Everything was cooked to perfection, which is rare with teppan.

Wakaba S.

Yelp
This is my favorite happy hour spot. Happy hour items are reasonable, good portion size, and delicious! The Crispy Gyoza is literally really crispy and almost like eating chips. The Tonpei-Yaki is pork rolled with eggs and reminds me of home food in Japan, The Garlic Chicken has a lot of garlic chips in it and tasty. The Pork Yakisoba is excellent and filling. I've had some regular menu items as well but they are a bit pricy. The service is always wonderful here.

Seong B.

Yelp
Good service and good foods I ordered draft beer , but it was bigger so I was good place

Ada Z.

Yelp
We tried this place because they weren't too crowded, and we had a large party. It was pricey, and portions weren't huge. Service was friendly and good though. Crispy gyoza: each used a single wonton skin. Hardly any meat or anything. Came with this spicy sauce. Beef okonomiyaki: reminds me of takoyaki. Super salty though. Pork yakisoba: Really salty. I liked the bonito on top. Very flavorful dish, but I could only eat a few bites and drank 2 cups of water. Teriyaki chicken: probably out favorite out of all the dishes. A little sweet and very flavorful. Sadly didn't come with any rice.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
This is a smaller restaurant with 2 teppan tables. I personally prefer a smaller setting with a more quiet ambience, so I had a delightful evening here. We had a full teppanyaki dinner by the grill where the chef cooked our food infront of us. The chef and staff were all very polite and pleasant. I love okonomiyaki and this was one of the best I've had! Everything we ate was rich in flavor. Absolutely try their signature dish okonomiyaki.

Yelp
Parking is easily located a short walk in the bank of Hawaii parking lot. Came right when they opened and was seated immediately. Was seated at a teppanyaki grill with another family across from us. Ordered the KauKau course for two with happy hour (5-6PM) grilled potatoes with cheese, onions and bacon. They also gave us a Smokey tobasco to pair with it for some added flavor. We also ordered the happy hour pork yakisoba for our little one. Flavors were impeccable for each dish. The garlic shrimp was loaded with garlic on an easy to peel from shell. The ahi poke cake surprisingly in a satisfyingly large portion for two. The tonpeiyaki flavors came together well to blend with the egg and pork. The filet was so juicy, probably one of my favorite steak entree I've had since coming to island. Not to mention the perfectly cooked sliced garlic topping. There were two sauces that were offered, a brown and orange sauce. I preferred the brown. The Okonomiyaki Chibo was very fulfilling, sliced into the perfect portion. This spot really didn't disappoint with the Okonomiyaki in portion and size. The pork yakisoba was the least favorite but still tasty nonetheless. Was more for the child to eat easily as there is no keiki menu. For dessert we chose a Japanese soufflé cheesecake & matcha ice cream with mochi. We also got happy hour Toki high balls and a fair priced pineapple Chu-Hi which tasted great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer these trays where you can put your stuff under the table without it touching the floor. Staff was also very helpful and sweet when our baby spilled water onto the floor. Would highly recommend if you want great Japanese food that will leave you satisfied.

Yelp
So good! If I go back to visit Oahu, I will definitely come back to this place. It was recommended by a coworker, and I was satisfied with both the okonomiyaki and teppanyaki. The service was top notch, the chef was friendly and skillful in his craft, the food was amazing, and the seafood was so plump and fresh. You may be able to find a coupon for this place in those little coupon books that are just out on the sidewalk for you to take, which made it even more worthwhile!

Yelp
It's a Christmas tradition for the bandits that during lunch time we go somewhere to treat ourselves even though we got plenty of leftovers from last night. This year, it's from OCR! Let's dig it in! We just randomly saw this while walking towards Waikiki Downtown. Since not all eateries are open we took advantage on this location that only got 20mins. long waitlist. Good thing we got patience coz not a single regret experience here... FOOD Grilled Ahi w/ Spicy Ponzu Sauce served with sticky rice, tossed salad & miso soup $20 - the best! In fact Imma order this if I'll be back here. Bandit intend to put the sauce at the side so that I can try it (spicy is a no-no for my AR). Savory dish and the meat has a good texture topped with a minced veggies which add the contrast of the plate. On the side they put bok choy stem which compliment well with the dish. Salad's dressing is the best! And miso soup is so comforting. Steak-Ju served with salad, miso soup and rice that serve as the bed of the steak $23. I rarely order steak when dining out but this time I didn't regret it. Meat was cooked right base on my preferences. It was nicely glazed with sweet-savory sauce on it. T'was a delectable meal and my tummy was so happy. Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri $10 was the best virgin drink ever! The sweetness was well balanced and the perfect drink for my meal. Hot Sake $9 is my bandit's favorite drink at the time. I tried a sip and it doesn't taste good to my palate so I don't care about it. Though I am grateful coz Dada enjoyed his drink. Complimentary hot teas at the end is much appreciative! T'was nice from them to gave us a glass of hot tea. A nice ender drink after a scrumptious holiday meal. Staffs are friendly and courteous. The experience was excellent! Will I recommend? - heck YES! Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow yeeps!

Yelp
Hole in the Wall Teppanyaki Joint in the Heart of Waikiki Blink and you might miss this little teppanyaki place around the corner from the Royal Hawaiian Center. Tucked away by some eateries and shops on a side street next to bigger chain names like the Hard Rock and Tommy Bahama's, Chibo does more than your regular okonomiyaki, the Japanese savory pancake dish. Oh no, it's a legitimate teppanyaki joint that rivals the more grandeur of a Benihana or the like. What you get here is cozy, super friendly service, and food that'll water your mouth before it even hits the palate -- with delectable dishes you'll want to write home about. We came for lunch right around opening, and we got seated right away at one of the hibachi tables. Plastic barriers up for COVID. Almost immediately, the place got packed. Yakisoba chibo. Not your standard stall fare. Next level flavor. Subbed squid with chicken. Right amount of char on the noodle. Recommend. Doutonboriyaki Okonomiyaki. Pork, beef? tendon, shrimp, cheese. Wow on flavor! Nice and thick with massive umami taste in each bite. Not soggy but just right with a slight crisp. Recommend. Loco Moco. Meat grilled to crunchy perfection. Combined with a nicely fried egg sunny side up with a delicious brown gravy. You can never go back to your average soggy mess of loco moco again. Definite recommend. Gyoza. Super thin and crispy. A fantastic rendition on a true Japanese classic. Sauce was excellent and had a some unknown ingredient adding a pleasant kick of umami. Recommend. Nothing really disappointed here. Every dish came out fantastic, and service was great. Absolutely recommend you give this place a try when you're in the area.

Dave C.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Small restaurant not fancy but food is delicious. Great drinks too!

Yuffie G.

Yelp
My kids and I loved this restaurant. Service was excellent, the chef was very skilled and the food was delicious. No wait during lunch time, which was surprising considering how good the restaurant was.

chris L.

Yelp
I discovered this place when they were at a different location more than a few years ago. It was my first time trying okonomiyaki and it was probably the best cuisine I've ever discovered in Oahu. The Okonomiyaki is an explosion of savory and umami flavors. Every time I try to describe it to someone it's almost impossible until you try it. They make it right in front of you so you can see all the ingredients that go into it. It's a pretty great experience overall. I definitely recommend this place if you're new to teppanyaki trying Okonomiyaki or just want to try something different. The ambiance and service were exceptional as well. 5 stars!

Shaye H.

Yelp
I came with a group of 3 and we ordered the okonomiyaki chibo and the yakisoba chibo. This was my first time having Hiroshima style okonomiyaki so I was excited. We got the extra portion of noodles for the okonomiyaki since there was three of us but I still feel like the portions here run small. The okonomiyaki and yakisoba chibio comes with pork, seafood, and bonito flakes. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the texture was tender but still had a bite to it. The waiter at the bar was really kind and stayed on top of the refills. Overall, the food was good and worth trying once but I wouldn't need to come back.

Janet V.

Yelp
Great place for dinner. Great prices for happy hour. Waitstaff and chefs were very friendly and helpful.

Kyle M.

Yelp
Okonomiyaki is one of my all-time favorite dishes. So, on the one hand, I favor restaurants that serve it because it's rarely on any menus in the United States. On the other hand, I am pretty picky about my okonomayki. Regardless, this spot is a gem. SERVICE: The staff is extremely attentive and quick. The staff was especially patient and helpful with our young children, which we appreciated, a lot. Our water cups were never lower than 3/4 full, which I always feel is reflective of incredible service. RESTAURANT: The restaurant is located just off the Waikiki Strip. They have some outdoor seating, traditional indoor seating, and seating around the okonomiyaki grill. So, there are a variety of options. FOOD: The food is incredible. The okonomiyaki is cooked to perfection with vegetables, protein, and noodles. We only ordered okonomiyaki, but the menu is filled with great options live lobster sashimi to teppanyaki. OVERALL: We will be back next time we are on O'ahu and highly recommend it to everyone!

Connie W.

Yelp
Authentic Japanese meal in Hawaii It was very pleasant to sit outside, shaded by big umbrellas, surrounded by green plants, and the furniture was sturdy with simple contemporary design. Sake Sampler flight:  Unfiltered, sweet, Very dry, Premium dry.  What a fun way to try something new. Tataki, Seared filet of tenderloin - super tender and soft Ahi Poke - very fresh and delicious Okonomiyaki - egg and flour batter with cabbage and stuff, this is how it is supposed to be.  Great dish for sharing. Ended the meal with complementary hot tea.  (I think every meal should end with a cup of hot tea!)

Mary N.

Yelp
Originally had plans to eat elsewhere but the restaurant business in Waikiki is no joke and openings were quickly filled. The service here was absolutely amazing. Waters refilled frequently, table cleared of clutter and empty plates, they really paid much attention to us. We're not the type to dine in 30 minutes before closing but after enduring a long sleepless flight and raging appetite, the desperation was apparent and visible. Food was good, not the best I've had in Hawaii a little expensive but satisfied our hunger for sure. I'd recommend the salads, loco moco, and seared tuna.

Kyla W.

Yelp
Reasonable lunch pricing, not very busy. Food is alright, not something I would want to come back again unless someone makes suggestions to come here. Smaller space compare when they located back in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

Matt M.

Yelp
The best Osaka-Kansai cuisine in Hawaii! This is our go-to dinner whenever we stay in Honolulu. The staff and service is always great, and the teppanyaki prepared food is the best! You get to watch the skilled chef prepare your appetizers, and then watch the main course be prepared right in front of your eyes. No "show", just highly refined skills on display. Their signature okonomiyaki is it's own "show", with the katusobushi flakes dancing across the top. The steak teppanyaki includes their own dipping sauces that enhance the savory grilled goodness event more. ごちそうさまでした (Gochisousama-deshita)!

Juan F.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite meals during our stay. Its a hole in a wall - super small place. If you are looking for Teppanyaki experience, they only have 2 tables for that. We got a table on the side but we didn't mind as we were here for the Okonomiyaki which was incredible. We also got their garlic shrimp, fried rice and filet mignon and everything was seasoned well and cooked just right. Service was outstanding too. Can't wait to come back.

John C.

Yelp
Great service and oishii dishes!! Such a different vibe from the ordinary dining at most restaurants. More food than we could eat as we ordered a variety of dishes, but took the leftovers home and loved every bite!

Veronica D.

Yelp
Good food, great staff, affordable price. Although parking is very challenging around this area, we managed to find a spot 2 blocks away from Chibo. The experience is good, the food is delicious, and the company is amazing. We ate and drink everything.

Markus G.

Yelp
A great authentic Japanese restaurant. The Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki is fantastic. The service was shift and we were accommodated without a wait. The prices are normal and there complementary green tea. All in all the place has the atmosphere and ambience of an authentic restaurant in the home isles.

Janice C.

Yelp
The food, ambiance and service were perfect...just like it was at their Roppongi Crossing location when I went in 1990. We had the Hiroshimayaki, the kimchi pork, the gyoza, the teriyaki chicken and the yakisoba. Everything was cooked in front of us on the teppan grill. The chef deftly manipulated two stainless steel spatulas to cook the raw materials to perfection as we watched. He then served them piping hot. We ate, he cooked. We smiled. He smiled. Then each mouthful was washed down with Japanese draft beer in almost ritualistic fashion.

Shay F.

Yelp
I remember going to Chibo frequently when they were at their old location in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Since their move to Beach Walk, I haven't been able to go as often. Parking is in the Bank of Hawaii building right across... and they do validate. The food is just as I remember, although they don't have the option on the menu to do a 2-choice okonomiyaki... they said that they can still do most of the choices from before. So I asked for the mochi and cheese okonomiyaki and they made it for me! Yum. With their move to Beach Walk I think they are trying to make it more upscale/fancy because I saw a honeymoon set/special on the menu and the price is a bit more than before. Nonetheless, still a great place to go for okonomiyaki.

Ryan Y.

Yelp
Found this place by accident... while just walking around Waikiki on a Friday night. While most tourists were attracted to the teppanyaki (which is really good - more on that later) But what we were really attracted to was the Okonomiyaki - best described as a Japanese savory pancake. We ordered the Okonomiyaki Chibo at it was delicious with pieces of steak and squid - brought back memories of eating Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima. As for the teppanyaki - we only tried the garlic shrimp and it was friggin delicious! It is a must order! Great place, great find, highly recommend.

Carrie L.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Garlic shrimp, steak and okonomiyaki were all perfectly cooked. Loco moco was one of the best we had. Chef was great and constantly checked in to make sure everything was to our liking.

Tyra L.

Yelp
This was by far my favorite place we ate on the island. This little gem is right in the middle of the main drag, but set back a little so may be easy to miss. We had a long arduous decision making process between the group because some of us only wanted seafood (me) and others hated seafood. This placed turned out to be perfect for everyone. Plus they have happy hour!!! We tried the gyoza, the pork omelet, and a few drinks from the happy hour menu. There were also some specials posted on the wall - which you should not miss. I wanted to try the abalone special but unfortunately they were out already. Instead I had the ahi tuna, and my boyfriend had seared pork loin. The seared ahi was the best I've ever had. You could just smell the freshness of the fish when it was brought to the table. I didn't know a piece of fish could even smell so good or have such a wonderful texture. The service was great, very quick and friendly. Everything tasted super fresh, and if you sit inside you can see the chef cooking your food on the grill. After dinner they gave everyone a hot cup of green tea. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, they really have something everyone can enjoy.

Atmos H.

Yelp
Stopped by this place on first day in Honolulu. The okonomiyaki was cooked well but unfortunately the sauce is too sweet for my taste. Note: This establishment checks for vaccination card and photo ID.

Theresa Huong N.

Yelp
when staying in Honolulu Hawaii for my short trip visiting my family. It's the place we're always for gathering family dinner. It's really nice and friendly service. Just like any Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurants all foods is great It's nice to come if you're around Oahu Island

Shirley C.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Great place for some lunch. It wasn't too busy at lunch time and we were able to get seats with a seat to watch the chef grill. Their okonomiyaki Chibo was incredibly tasty. It has beef and seafood with all the okonomiyaki fixing. I like how they don't overdo the sauces. The flavors are well balanced and the beef and seafood were all cooked to the right texture. Not overcooked and hard and rubbery. Good service and good food, I'd definitely will be back if I'm on the island

Novaira M.

Yelp
Went here for the Okonomiyaki and it did not disappoint ! We also tried the Ahi Steak and the sauce was awesome - although it was pricy and I would just stick to Okonomiyaki in the future. There aren't many places that make this dish outside of Japan so we were really excited to find a restaurant here that serves it. They also have stations where they make the Okonomiyaki right in front of you. The service was also top notch - they offered forks etc for my daughter and made great recommendations and substitutions as needed. Pro tip : They also validate parking at the parking lot across the street ( under the bank ).

Christian F.

Yelp
Passed by Chibo when my wife and I were on our morning walk after breakfast. It was then that we decided to try this place out for happy hour. Even though we love Japanese food and you can find Okonomiyaki just about anywhere in the Bay Area, we were always apprehensive that our first time having the dish would be a negative experience since Okonomiyaki is essentially a savory surf and turf pancake with dried fish flakes on top (it doesn't exactly make your mouth water thinking about the ingredients). Anyway, I am glad we gave it a chance since the vibes were good, the food was delicious and the staff was at least on par with the level of customer service we've come to expect in Hawaii. While the beer selection was kinda meh, they give you a good value if you get a large. My only suggestion? Make reservations if you're interested. The venue is small, so space is at a premium. Would come back if we ever get a chance.

Jim C.

Yelp
Was planning to go to Guy-kaku tonight, but thought that it would be too much plus I can get it at home, so started looking for other Japanese restaurants. Minute I saw Chibo had tonpeiyaki, decision made. It's been 20+ years since I had tonpeiyaki in Osaka. Haven't found a restaurant at home that makes it and my attempts don't match up. Also, had Doutonboriyaki with cheese on only half. A lot of really good food so half of the okonomiyaki will be breakfast tomorrow. Add Lychee Chuhis and I was 20 years away. ほんまに美味い!

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Love this place so much and always visit when I'm in Honolulu! Staff is friendly and helpful and food is soo good. Seafood Okonomiyaki is my favorite! The new location is smaller and a nice casual place to go when you don't want to deal with the larger and crowded restaurants. Get your grub on here!

Sarah D.

Yelp
Food is 5 stars! If you like okonomiyaki you definitely need to try! Can't wait to go back and bring the rest of our family

Yelp
Amazing food. Quiet ambiance. Attentive service. Quite a gem I found today. The Okonomiyaky Chibo dish was great (I hoped do since it matches the restaurants name). Just what I needed. FYI it comes w/ 2 of the listed proteins. It was a little confusing, as it should be at any good Japanese restaurant. :) Green tea at end too, as part of deal. Try a flight of sake or my favorite the warm house sake. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
We reserved ahead of time but it was about closing time so there was only another party of 2 there. Perhaps that's why the servers were all very attentive. We went with a table instead of the teppanyaki station and the bar, yet I wasn't entirely comfortable with the spot since we were seated so close to the cashier/supplies shelf/servers' area -- the lack of proximity and privacy stressed me out a bit. The food was FRESH AND EXCELLENT! We had the Surf and Turf set with an extra order of the Okonomiyaki CHIBO (rule of thumb: always the shop signature first to see why its deserve the store name ) LOVE LOVE LOVE. Literally cannot have enough of the Prime Rib because the chef def hit our medium rare request. Saw a review somewhere else that their garlic fried rice was mediocre BUT it reminded me of my mom's fried rice - the way each grain of rice is coated with that flavorful eggy layer. The only reason we have to left some rice was only because we were SO FULL (i swear I hate to have waste such good fried rice). The freshness of the teppanyaki Lobster Tail was superb. Didnt expect that there would be bean sprout with the Lobster and I was mildly confused about why they didnt go with another type of veggie just cause I cant bear the taste of beansprout Dessert feels homemade and nice. The server made sure to let us know that we got some extra mochi today since they had quite a few leftovers -- which bears the question of whether the mochi is made daily in house? That'd be pretty cool. I also appreciate that even though its passed closing hour (we were the last seated at 8:15), they didnt try to rush us at all -- except for when all of a suddenly a server went to out table, looked me straight in the eye and stress me out a tiny bit while I was guiltily eating a heaping spoon of fried rice with the communal spoon and felt busted lol. To be fair we didnt have any spoon and I didnt want them to have to wash them extra. Nice experience with an expected price range in Waikiki. I did regret not taking the teppanyaki station but theres always next time!

Yelp
couldn't get a table at ginza bairin (reservations recommended), so came across the street to chibo...mostly empty, so getting a large table was easy...deciding on a standard table instead of the teppanyaki...inside is clean and modern with a spacious industrial feel...starting with some fried gyoza $10 for the child (no children's menu)...was warned it was thin...didn't really understand what they meant, but it was literally paper thin triangle folds with barely any filling...taking a loco moco for $21...rice smothered in gravy, mushrooms and onion slices...a burger patty and sunny-side egg on top...flavors were good in the gravy...beef patty was moist and good...egg cooked perfectly...wife taking the okonomiyaki chibo $25...japanese pancake loaded with pork and seafood with flakes dancing on top...sauced up and on a hot plate...others having the assorted seafood $26 and 5 oz steak $25 griddled on the teppanyaki...both decent...washing down with a fruity cocktail for $12...the restaurant is empty, but the food is pretty decent...

Yelp
Add this place to the happy hour list! There are some great items available. We shared the okonomiyaki and a rib eye, and I wasn't expecting the okonomiyaki to have as much green onion as it did, but it didn't taste overwhelming, pleasantly unexpected! They cook in front of you, which I always find fun. It's a dinner and a show! Service was excellent! Water was topped off and drinks were on point. The restaurant is small, so if you are inclined to go during prime hours, I'd suggest making a reservation. Parking is validated for the parking lot across the street in the Bank of Hawaii building (with Long's on the ground floor).

Yelp
Located in central Waikiki off Kalakaua Ave, so super convenient if you're staying in Waikiki. The food was one of the best meals we had in Oahu (we didn't venture much outside of Waikiki however). It's Japanese-style teppanyaki (so not like Benihana, FYI). The dining area has two teppanyaki tables as well as bar seating, with a few tables outside as well. Even if you don't sit at the teppanyaki table, the food is usually cooked there. Though the prices were high, we enjoyed the food immensely. Standouts were the kimchi octopus and garlic chicken. The gyoza was interesting, but the portion was super small. What you're paying for is the location and the labor. For example, the okonomiyaki was $30. There is a happy hour if you get there before 6pm and some of the items are discounted. All in all, Chibo was a great dining experience. I recommend it as a "nice" sit down meal. It's better than other restaurants in the area at that price.
