Koyasan, [okuno-in] is a legacy experience.
I went to Wakayama to trek the Kumano and visit Koyasan— in general, but Okuno-in, specifically.
Just as expected, it did NOT disappoint; I really wanted to see Lord Obunaga-san’s gorintō, and after an hour or so, as such, serendipitously stumbled upon it.
The mood that morning was unmatched; took some photographs, but was so engulfed in the “vibe,” I zoned out for 3.5 hours just soaking it all in.
Be sure to visit Lord Oda’s cenotaph, the ‘beautiful’ Jizo, and don’t forget to get your Goshuin!
I had to cut my visit short so I can start my trek at a decent time, but, I will be back quicker than the shake of a lambs tail to dedicate at least 2-days 高野山.
Do it.
