"A farm-style experience about an hour from Christchurch, Okuti Garden caters to travelers who love to create and play. An art box encourages crafting; “tree circles” are great for yoga and meditation; and a small lake features a boat popular among readers and small children. Bohemian accommodations include yurts, a tepee, a caravan, and a cabin. Each is homespun and handmade, decorated with drawings, wind chimes, and dream catchers left by former guests. The property is completely off grid, relying on composting toilets, a solar shower, and a gray-water system that recycles wastewater to irrigate the wetlands. One area of the wetlands grows willow rods, which are woven into arches, domes, and tunnels—turning waste into wonders."

Amazing place, very lush with flowers everywhere. Such a relaxing atmosphere and beautiful people owning the place as well:) Such a warm atmosphere and great workshops too! I did woodworking and made a ladle out of birch. Very expertly guided and fun as well. Many scenic beaches around too for a surf, but you need a car.

Our family had a lovely stay at Okuti Garden. The yurt accommodation was not just gorgeous, private and tidy. The hosts were very generous with their fruit trees and our children loved picking and eating apples and plums and there were plenty of other activities on site and nearby. We all had a blast in the rowboat on the pond. We will be back!

We got there on the 31st of December and spent two nights in a yurt that was so secluded and charming and just pure magic! |Loved every bit of the place. The trees, Tammie the pooch, the outdoor shower, the living space eith board games! Just everything!|It was so romantic!|And the owners of the place were full of smiles! They were wonderful!|If you want a getaway that is full of peace and calm and a bit of a "glamping" kinda experience. This is your place! |

Little River hidden gem!!
A secluded serene garden oasis with all the amenities needed! We had a wonderful stay in the Garden Yurt, and was easy to find thanks to photos on listing. Lovely shared facilities (kitchen, bathrooms and entertainment/rec area), with multiple peaceful outdoor spots to sit.
We’re already thinking of booking our next trip!

I booked this months before we left for NZ and was so excited about all it had to offer. When we arrived the rest of my family was not as excited as I was. I guess I didn't explain it very well. We have a 13 year old daughter that was googling hotels nearby as fast as she could. I talked them all down and we stayed. We were all so happy we did. We were mostly there by ourselves. we cooked a lovely dinner in the garden kitchen. Had so many laughs with the very friendly donkeys and a peaceful nights sleep in the Yurt. we woke to the amazing songs of the local birds. It was such a unique off the grid experience. There is zero light polution so the stars were amazing. It was the end of our trip and such a great place to close the trip. Truly NZ. Our hosts were so lovely. Not for everyone really, but if you appreciate the natural world you will love it here.

We stayed in a yurt for 2 nights, and a friend stayed in the tipi. It is such a beautiful place, we really liked the open-air kitchen, the gardens, the setting, everything. The hosts were really friendly but also left you to relax. I had the most amazing massage too. I would love to go back and spend longer there.

We have stayed at Okuti Gardens many times now, and for us it is the most relaxing place to be. The hosts are so lovely, the garden is beautiful, the accommodation is fun and extremely comfortable, and it has an energy of peace and stillness that we love.
We come out from Christchurch whenever we can, just to recharge and soak up the birdsong and the garden surrounds. We HIGHLY recommend this wonderful piece of paradise.

Our family group stayed in wonderful Yurts on this idyllic site and we had a lovely time despite the weather which was cool and a bit showery - but this is NZ and you take the weather as it comes. ||The Yurt provides much more space and comfort than a tent, and the bed was comfortable and warm. ||The open air communal kitchen worked well, and as this is a small site it was not difficult to make and eat meals. There are fridges and internet near the kitchen in the aptly named ‘Internet Shed’||The solar shower was very good. ||Lovely people too. All to be recommended.
