A beautiful historic building with lovely baths. We stayed for two nights. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and refined. The owner arranged flowers in the lobby beautifully. The staff were attentive and kind. We were so lucky to be there for the last night of the Yu Akari bamboo illuminations festival which were could see from our room overlooking the river. A wonderful experience.

Can’t say enough positive things about this property. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful and treated the guests like royalty. The five Onsen within the property each had their own unique characteristics and were very enjoyable. The room was spotless and elegantly furnished. The location of the inn was very central and backs on to the river. Above and beyond expectations. Would love to return

Spacious room in traditional Ryokan setting. Superlative service, extremely welcoming and attentive throughout the stay. Great dinner and breakfast highlighting local ingredients and products. Good onsen. Great location with easy access to village and other onsen. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again.

Very historical Ryokan, Kind people, great + plenty of food. Always 1 Drink per night free when booking via the own Website. Course Menu in the Evening + several dishes for breakfast.

Only managed to stay here one night. This is my first time experiencing ryokan and traditional Japanese food basashi (horse sasimi), outdoor onsen. It was very nice relaxing, healthy. The food made with local ingredients (local farm to table). Definitely want to go back here. I drove from Kumamoto to Aso mount and stayed here. The road is not too difficult for the first time driving in Japan.

I wish I could go back there. You can experience the real Japanese culture through this beautiful place. The staff are so friendly and helpful! The futon so comfortable and the scenery is beautiful. The biscuits are DELICOUS and I bought a pack of green tea but I regret now not buying more… I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax in the onsens or experience a traditional stay in the countryside of Japan. 忘れられない思い出をありがとう。 A. 🇨🇭

Perfect Onsen experience, can highly recommend! We stayed for two nights and it was wonderful! Staff is so kind and welcoming. Rooms are super cozy and have a relaxing atmosphere. The onsen baths are great, lots to choose from. I would definitely book with dinner and breakfast as this was fantastic. Thank you so much Okyakuya Team for this wonderful experience :)

A beautiful ryokan with super friendly, polite staff. The outdoor onsens were nice and very refreshing after a long trip with stops in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The town itself is pretty and quaint. The food was delicious, but be aware that the meal is a lot bigger than you may anticipate. We had a snack an hour before our dinner and could not finish the meal. We had to have an early checkout to make a reservation at Takachiho Gorge and couldn’t make the breakfast. The hosts were accommodating and gave us free drink tickets in lieu of breakfast. Another positive note about the stay: the onsens were tattoo friendly.
