Jan 2026 - Stayed in the 6-bedder female dorm. The dorm is in B1 while the other hotel rooms are on higher floors. Bed is comfortable and spacious, with table top space to place stuff. Separate cabinet with lock outside bed to keep your luggage and hang clothes. 2 toilets + 2 bathrooms inside the dorm solely for dorm users, very clean and comfortable. Water dispenser is just right outside the door to the dorm, convenient at all times.
Main con for me: only a small hand towel is provided, no bath towel. Not even available for rent which I think they should at least avail this option.
Breakfast is included in my booking - small spread offering toasts and some local fare which doesn't appeal to me much. There is also late night supper from 10-11pm every night, free instant noodles of various flavours. Have to cook with the pots provided.
Location is superb, less than 10 mins walk from Taichung Train Station*. Famous Miyahara ice cream store is just a few metres away. Plenty of food options around the area within 15 mins walking perimeter. Many of the cafes have fantastic aesthetics vibes, decor & service.
*Taichung Train Station is different from Taichung HSR Station! I made the mistake of assuming they are the same becoz of Taipei Main Station experience. Taichung HSR is about 15-20 mins car ride away.
Overall environment wise, this is a nice dorm. However I won’t go back to this place given there are so many other hostel options in the area. The service staff are rather unfriendly, they greet (if they even) with straight face and no smile, explanations are given like instructions or even warning (imagine hearing all these with a stern face like your dorm master: no bath towel... throw your trash here... wash up the pot yourself... the swing outside entrance is not for swinging, didn't u see... we dun do this dun do that... it has ended...). I feel reproached every time I ask or do something in their presence and will avoid any contact with them as much as possible. At first I encounter with just 1 staff, then the rest as well, so I guess it's probably their culture. This is too unlike of the warm and welcoming Taiwan I always experience.
