Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport

This is such an amazing airport! First the signage makes it easy to navigate, the security rarely takes more than 10 minutes. Plus the route network is extensive throughout Europe taking you to most big cities. The staff were very friendly, the food was good and there’s a decent amount of shops. One thing that was difficult was getting to gates I think 8, 9, and 10, I had gate 9 going back to London Gatwick and you had to go to the end of the main terminal and go to the clearance area to enter England and then down an escalator to the bus gates. And if you have a gate down there get food at the main area as there is no food at those gates!

Very happy with this airport, so many shops to keep you occupied! Along with a GREAT smoking area / pet relief area - I've not seen many of these, so was super surprised to see one so well kitted out! Quick security checks, and also a quick pick up of luggage when we landed the week previous

Avis rentals is not too far away to walk. Clean and manageable. It was an easy check-in with the BA girls Airport security was straightforward, and their lounge was well equipped with food and beverages. Alcohol 🍸 was out too I love Sardinia and it's people. Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport was a smooth experience overall. We got through check-in and security quickly and without any issues. Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived at the ITA Airways counter all the way through to the gate. The airport is clean, organized, and easy to navigate. However, there isn’t much to do once you’re past security. Food options are limited—mostly sandwich spots and vending machines—so if you’re here for a few hours, be prepared to just sit and wait. Seating is fine, but nothing particularly comfortable. Overall, it’s a clean and efficient airport that does the job well, just not the kind of place to hang out for long. Great for a quick in-and-out!

This is a well run airport. It is not the largest, but it is ordered. Lines moved quickly even though flights arrive at similar times and the staff are keen to assist. On my return, the same experience (with the exception of the grumpy check-in clerk beside our excellent clerk for the flight), bags checked, straight into security, staff pleasant, out through to the smaller space beyond, but adequate enough. We were boarded on the plane well in advance of departure and very smooth. Great experience (and I wouldn't normally review an airport!)

We had to wait 45 minutes just to get through control, which was very frustrating. The terminal was extremely hot and uncomfortable, with almost no air circulation. Standing in line for that long in the heat was exhausting, and the staff at control were super rude and unprofessional, not talking to passengers in a normal or polite way. For an international airport, the experience felt poorly organized and stressful. I really hope they improve the air conditioning, queue management, and staff attitude. Just a shame

Your typical small continental style airport really. It’s not exactly Gatwick but then it’s the right size to deal with Sardinia’s needs. It’s one of those where after landing they send out a long & low bus which basically drives around in a circle only to drop you about 40ft from where you stepped off the plane…!! A good range of shops and a few restaurants for when it comes to departure time. The only thing I can knock it on is a guy working at the pizza stall at one of the main restaurants, he got very upset when my bags were left at the front of the stall, an hour before it opened. His attitude was appalling.

Easy airport. Not too big, busy, but easy to get around. Great espresso shops. Friendly Iberia airlines. Sit near the piano.

9 evening flights and the only bar is shut as is one of the two food courts . Had to queue for 17 minutes to get served. The one operating the till gets an order for a toasted sandwich and stands watching it cook while the other two wander back and forth waiting for the next drink order. Not enough seating even this late in the day and season, 2nd October . Why do airport operators hate people who want to fly? I can remember when I enjoyed flying and it was a part of the holiday experience now it is a torture to be endured

I'm a big fan of this airport: small, clean, and easy to navigate, it has enough food options and shops to keep you busy if you have some time to kill, without being overwhelmed with options. Among the highlights are a bookstore and newsstand that is actually loaded with books, shops selling authentic Sardinian food and wine[1], and clothing shops selling brands who use the Sardinian flag of the Four Moors [2] as logo, which make for nice gifts. On the second floor, right by the police station, there is a seating area which is very quiet, with rarely a few people. The not-so-great thing about this airport is that public transportation is very limited: You have one bus that will take you to the main touristic destinations on the island[3], and taxis. And that's it. I strongly suggest to arrange for your transportation ahead of your flight. I was also very impressed with the COVID testing facility on-site. I had to take a COVID test before flying back to the US, and booking it on-line was very easy, with 3 options from rapid antigen test (result in 30 minutes) to two molecular tests (result in 6 hours or 24 hours). The Health Testing Center is near Terminal 1, and is super-clean. When I got there the day before my flight there were barely any people: I got tested at 10:21am, and at 10:23am I received the result by email. I wish it was this easy to get a test in the US... ------------------- [1] Sardinian wines are highly underrated. The Olbia Airport was pretty tiny and efficient. We flew into here to visit the Northeastern part of Sardegna and the emerald coast. I was able to set up a rental car here. The pickup and turn in was simple. Our bags came out quickly and check-in when leaving was smooth. We had no delays or cancellations.

Small with a few shops selling Sardianan foods and wine at normally inflated airport prices. Main problem for me is there is very little public transport, except for expensive taxis or the infrequent and slow bus service.
