Excellent bit of local history, although full tours are not running at the moment the top station has very limited opening times (normally Saturdays) for guided tours which last about 15 minutes or so. Check the website. Well worth a visit.

Echoes of Victorian grandeur, confidence and achievement. Its remains stand today as testimony to the contribution to the modern world these engineers made. Opened 1893. Its chiselled sign still visible though dark in places.

Really interesting visit to Clifton Rocks Railway. Learnt lots about the history, including it's uses for the BBC and as a shelter during the war. Also an exhibition in the Avon Gorge hotel. Very enthusiastic and friendly volunteers and guides.

It's only open for tours a few times a year. Very well-informed and friendly guide provided a lot of information and also answered questions. Tours only available for the top part at the moment so quite a short tour but they're hoping to reopen the bottom part soon so tours will take about 2 hours.

This was an amazing tour, and so beautifully curated by dedicated volunteers. I hope there are more opportunities to visit, as I would love to bring my husband to see the railway, thanks to Maggie and Mike
