This is the historic Old Court at Domplatz in the historic city centre of Bamberg. The Old Court was originally a palace made by the order of Emperor Henry II for the Bishop of Bamberg at the beginning of the 11th-century. The row of half-timbered buildings in the rear date back to 1475 while the Renaissance style Ratsstubenbau building and main entrance gate date back to around 1568.
This is where you find the City of Bamberg History Museum occupying much of the Alte Hofhaltung. Opening hours 10am to 5pm daily (closed on Mondays). If you don't have time to visit the museum, you can also pass through the entry gate, taking a look at the old half-timber buildings and other structures within inner courtyard before moving on to other intended sightseeing like Neue Residenz or Bamberg Cathedral.
