It’s nostalgic, ok for a beer, food is very limited in terms of choice but large portions, the microwave is busy. I’ve not been in the rooms so I couldn’t honestly say but from the pics it looks classic. A dog pooing Calendar behind the bar is not my vibe to look at whilst slurping my pint and ordering a pie, but whatever floats your boat I suppose… if you’re into that then crack on 👀. Toilets should come with a health warning so be careful in there!!! You’ll see when you go in…. If is wet (more than likely) the pub floor is like an icing rink so again watch your step, it can get dicey.
Staff seem half pleasant, depends really, hit and miss I’d say, can be nice but can seem vexed at times if it’s busy, which to be fair it can get that way as there’s not much else going on if you’re not up for a walk down the road. Given by the choice of decor (dog poo calendar) I’d say there’s a certain type of humour, not sure what but I’m sure there is. Staff / managers / owners in here have always been ‘out there’ so to speak. They don’t need to try, walkers will always, I guess, walk in… good service is not required or in the job spec.
Vintage and again, nostalgic… Don’t get me wrong, I love a bar with character and this does have that and I will be hypocritical and return, this I have no doubt… there’s little else…
Good spot though
