Old Faithful - Bar & BBQ

I have eaten here a few times and will come back again. A little disappointing you can't reserve a table, but they turn them around pretty quick. Food was good, good amounts and quality. Service was excellent...I gave 4 stars as we sat in an alley way I guess you describe it, it is undercover, you are on a slope, so always leaning, in a very narrow lane way type area, and you get a view of all plumbing pipes that are exposed... felt damp and pretty ordinary...if you are happy to sit an an after thought area all well and good, the main part of restaurant is much nicer, try to get in there...

Very yummy food and drinks. Loved that I can order off my phone which means I can look at the photos of all the food before ordering. The meat was cooked to perfection as well as the sides. Loved the maple bacon potatoes and how much maple they had. The food can be a bit pricey but depends on what you order

Great for groups, specials every day. Would recommend the Club Sandwich to be shared between two people, it's enormous! Pulled pork was tasty, wings were tasty, a bit over-fried and dry, but in a good way. Would not recommend the potato salad, it came in a decent sized serving but was not at all tasty.

One of the worst meals we have ever had!!!! Rib was just fat and no meat,brisket was fatty and most was dry and tasteless. I order the coleslaw and they sent out potato salad, I explained it was wrong so Waitress took it away the other waitress came to our table with the potato salad and rudely told us that it had been made and we had to have it, yes potato salad is made fresh to order. I ordered the loaded fries which when came out had totally different ingredients to the menu, no pork, bacon or pickles, just cheese brisket and a horrible weird sauce. Extremely disappointed and will never be going back. Over 100 dollars and disgusting food and service.

What attracted me at first was the opportunity to have a shot of the 15yo PappyVanWinkle Bourbon. We left with an extremely full belly of delicious meats and sides, a few other bourbon brands and cocktails but in the end were too full to indulge in the $110 a shot prized bourbon. We will return with that excuse tho. Bbq platter of Brisket, burnt ends, pork belly and the amazing house maple bacon. Sides were spicy fried mac n cheese squares, jalepeno poppers, cornbread and maple garlic potatoes. No complaints about the food and the service. Area we were in was a little squished n chilly and lacked the vibe of the main bar area. All in all, we can't wait to return and try more glorious meats and sides and of course those special bourbons.

The lamb ribs at this restaurant are excellent! They're cooked to perfection with a delicious blend of spices. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. Great beer! You got to try it!

This was recommended by my husband who had a work do here recently. The relaxed ambiance is great for catching up with friends or even for a date. The music wasn't too overpowering which meant we didn't have to yell to have a conversation. The service was prompt, the wait person who attended to our table was friendly and made sure our meal was ok. The food was delicious. The beef brisket melted in the mouth and full of flavor. The lamb ribs with chimichuri fell off the bones and very tasty. The jalapeno wings also hit the mark. The coleslaw stood out from the other ones I've had in the other BBQ places - with a hint of dill and the soury taste of pickles helped cut through the sickening feeling of having too much meat. They also have a wide selection of beer and spirits. Very reasonably priced which made it even tastier. 😊 Overall a very pleasant experience.

The food was delicious - the Brussels sprouts were an absolute stand out! I loved the concept of the bucket of bacon. The whiskeys were delicious & the choice was mind blowing. The venue was nice - cushions on the bench seats would be a great idea.

Great service and food, wrapped in in awsome venue. Would highly recommend this place if you like good food and cold beer.

The smell of the restaurant and BBQ made my mouth water and my colleague and I both were excited and hungry in regards to the atmosphere. Not too far away from any BBQ joint in the US. They serve a good variety of old fashioned drinks and being from Wisconsin where the drink really popped up from it was very good. I had the rye whiskey old fashioned. The only thing is that (no picture, sorry) why would you give me a glass when it's not filled up all the way. And this wasn't just my old fashioned--it was every customer. Either fill them up with more ice to get the feeling it's full or buy shorter glasses. You never want the customer to feel like they could have more than they've been given. Now for the food. The presentation was great, but almost an over abundance of sauce on the sides. But I could taste through it. The corn, potatoes, and burnt ends were the stand outs. Any chicken wing place outside of BW3s and normal fast food type joints are better than the wings here, but hey, America does have the best chicken wings in the world. Overall I would recommend the restaurant even though I probably wouldn't come back as I don't spend enough time in Perth to try the other restaurants. But all in all, if you're hungry and want some decent BBQ then it's a great spot in the CBD area. -chimichurri chicken wings: 3/5 -spicy jalapeño chicken wings: 3.5/5 -brisket burnt ends: 4.5/5 -bbq smoked corn cob: 4/5 -fried potatoes w/ maple bacon: 4/5 -beef short rib: 2/5

Excellent quality American style BBQ. I was very impressed with the dishes we had. Everything was tasty! Recommend the chicken wings - can customise the sauce; thick cut bacon with good flavour; pork sausage was on point; Mac n cheese was very cheesy! Good but not great was the fried pickles - think whole gerkins breaded and fried. Would be better if they were spears or chips. Skirt steak was good but a bit dry, especially the ends. Mac n cheese was actually rigatoni rather than macaroni but still delicious. Service was quick; beer was cold; ranch a plenty. Definitely worth an American stamp of approval.

It was difficult justifying a 3 star review. The Sweet potato, feta and bacon dish was what pulled this up from a 2. The biscuit came out cool, the pig ribs were small and the coleslaw is more of a German salad. The chef says he considers the fare Memphis inspired. I did not see it. Slaw should be either vinaigrette based or Mayo based in my book. There were three sauces. They were all thin and runny. The hot sauce seemed to be just chili peppers liquefied in a water base. The staff was self absorbed and inattentive. I will not be going back.

Bourbon. Bourbon and meat. As someone who was a vegetarian for over 20 years, old faithful had me at chilli. Must orders: - the broccoli - the potatoes - the chilli - the pig neck (get passed the idea - it's worth it) - an old fashioned - any of their beers - the sandwiches I like it on a Saturday afternoon or during the week. I am still sad that it's not open on a Sunday/Monday. It would beat any Sunday hangover. Ever.

As an American expat in Australia, I was so pleased to find the Southern BBQ trend picking up here in Perth! Old Faithful pays homage to the deep south and does it pretty well but with a few kinks. We came on a Saturday night with no reservation and were seated after about 20 minutes which wasn't too bad. I like the communal picnic table settings and there was even a roast pig on a spit to add to the authenticity of it all. I'm not much of a meat eater but the beef brisket was pretty good. The ribs were tasty but not as tender and fall-off-the-bone as they could have been. I like that you can order the meat by weight so you can get just the amount you want of everything. The sides were the main let down - the pickles weren't pickled enough and were pretty soggy instead of having that nice crunch your classic dill pickles should. The cornbread was a bit dry and came in a cupcake wrapper which I wasn't too enthused about. Proper cornbread is always in a little loaf or square but maybe that's just me! The coleslaw wasn't drenched in mayo like it can be, which I appreciated, but in general it was a little blah as it wasn't tangy enough. Overall, it hits the spot when I have a hankering for some food from my homeland but I'm still open to finding a place similar to what we can get in the States!

We had heard great things about this place and were looking forward to trying it, although we had no booking, we were happy to wait at the bar. We were told they should have a table in about 15mins. The bar staff were great and our cocktails were fantastic. After 30 mins we asked about the table. Still nothing but we were offered a bench at the window. We were happy with that as we had a booking to be at. When someone came to take our order, we were told, no beef products left! For my wife who doesn't eat pork, that was extremely disappointing. Just informing customers as they arrive would have made a huge difference. When my wife spoke to the maitre de he was totally apathetic, and unapologetic. I think we just put up with poor customer service in Perth. A little communication and integrity is all that is required.

I'm lucky enough to work just around the corner from Old Faithful, although I usually grab lunch to take back to the office so it's not somewhere I eat that often. Besides, it feels a little odd to go to a rather small, dark bar in the middle of the day... The last few times I've visited it's been fairly quiet and more lunch-like than bar-like, however last week we went to try the Thursday-only double cheeseburger special ($17) and it was very busy. All of the tables were occupied so we had to sit at the bar and were continually pestered to buy a drink, which was a little off-putting when we were just there to eat. Thankfully our food arrived quickly and we were in and out in under 30 minutes. As for the burger, it was really good - very moist and you could tell the patty was freshly made. Nice brioche, too, although the whole thing was rather big and hard to shove in your mouth! There's also get a quad-burger for $29, good luck trying to eat that without an apron. I'm loving being able to get a decent burger in Perth at the moment, and now I have Old Faithful, Ribs & Burgers and East Village all within walking distance of my work. It's a hard life. I'm keen to sample some of the ribs and meat available at Old Faithful, I've only ever had a roll or burger and haven't been disappointed. One thing I can recommend is the smoked fried potatoes - make sure you leave enough room for a serving of these, they're better than any chips!

Much like Tom T., I'm from the South - the mecca of smoked meats. Unfortunately, Old Faithful didn't conjure any feelings of being back home. But, that isn't to detract kudos to anyone in this town for starting up their own business especially in the restaurant business. The red tape alone is enough to detract anyone. Then throw in 'smoking meats' in Australia, in Perth, and well, that is some ambitious and expensive business... your smoker alone (and to get it here) must have cost a small fortune. In true Texan fashion, I went big on my selection. I unfortunately didn't know it was .70 wing night (Wed), otherwise I would have gone that route! This is my breakdown of my order. Rushmore: It states this feeds 1-2. I can't imagine this feeding a grown man. Two women (one pregnant) with two additional sides and a milkshake and we almost ate the entirety. This leads me to think of tapas. Southern food means that you have to leave with a doggy bag because you're so full and you paid $7.99 with sweet tea included. Not $35 a person. BRISKET: I'm an avid brisket lover. This brisket had an incredible bright red smoke ring, but was definitely missing bark. I didn't find the flavor to be intense and reached for the vinegar based sauce on the table as some pieces were quite dry. PULLED PORK: I found the pulled pork to be really good, well above the brisket. It was very tasty on its own. I can't say I enjoyed the presentation of the 'pulled' pork. It was far more chopped than anything and in the dim lighting, it kind of had the same texture/look as tuna. Rushmore Sides: COLESLAW: While I know coleslaw isn't the hardest thing to fix. People do, in fact, mess up cabbage. The coleslaw was good by my opinion. POTATO SALAD: To be honest, I'm super picky about potato salad. I didn't spit it out in disgust as I have from store bought places. But, the flavor wasn't memorable to me. I couldn't put my finger on the spice they used in it (maybe cumin?), but I didn't enjoy it enough to finish it. RED BEANS AND RICE: This was actually probably one of my favorite dishes. We've only ever used smoked sausage in our red beans and rice recipe, but I enjoyed Ol' Faithfuls spin on it. It had a great flavor. BREAD: Crusty, 'gourmet' bread is taboo. It just doesn't work to sop of meat juice and sauce. What you need is a Mrs. Baird Australian version - straight, non-nutritious white bread. Sides: ONION RINGS: These, were by far, the worst dish possible. I am not sure what kind of breading was used... but it was more like dough... like puff pastry wrapped around the thinnest slice of onion. If you are looking for legit onion rings, go to Johnny's Burger Joint in Canning Vale. This place was not it. FRIED PICKLES: Now here is the caveat for fried pickles. I know it is incredible hard to fry the pickles here. But, I kind of feel like they used won ton wrappers to encapsulate the spear. Again, this is not a traditional battered pickle. Drinks: CHOCOLATE BOURON MILKSHAKE had a great flavor, but consistency was just off. Is there ice cream in this? There was nothing to 'thicken' it up, but just a soupy, lukewarm beverage? Venue: The venue itself is very nice. Bathrooms are fantastic! The music was insanely loud for a Wednesday night at 6 p.m. I could not hear my friend across the table and the restaurant wasn't full at this time. Paying anything over $15 a person should warrant waitstaff - meaning you'll be getting your own plates, silverware, drinks, etc. For a 'casual' place, you aren't paying casual prices. If you pay by credit card and you want drinks, you'll be dinged a double surcharge on your credit card as you must check out for drinks at the bar. Ridiculous. To recap, get the pulled pork, red beans and rice and coleslaw. Wednesday is wing night at $.70 a wing - definitely a bargain here and pass on the onion rings unless you like yours doughy. Bring cash if you want to booze it up.

I love this restaurant. So much. It won best small bar of 2014 I think (maybe 2013?), but it's not the best place to go for just a drink because the sight and smell of BBQ meat all around you means you will need food. So even though you order drinks separately, you will want some meat. I've been here multiple times now and the meat never fails to disappoint. It's smokey and tender and juicy and everything a good piece of meat should be. And the best part is that it's actually pretty cheap. The deal is a share situation, where you order your meats by the gram, a few sides and everyone digs in. My last visit cost $230. For 12 people. At around $20 a head, it's pretty darn good value. Regardless of what else you order, you need to get some brisket. The chicken is also particularly good and takes on the smoke really well. Then order the smoked roast potatoes. Hell, they're yum enough to go vegetarian for. But don't, because you've ordered the amazing brisket. Other sides I'd recommend are fried pickles, pork crackle and cornbread. If cornbread is on a menu, I'll order it! Beers are largely Ferals Brewery, cocktails are punchy and flavoursome. Staff are bearded and friendly.

Omg ... I am in love with this place. Discovered it while out drinking on a Friday night, Varnish on King was full so they suggested we pop down to old faithful have a few drinks and come back. We decided we had to come back for dinner after we discovered the chicken wings. If you don't like meat ... don't come here, cause it is a meat fest, and an amazing one at that. We had dinner here with family a few weeks ago, we ordered the platter, and some extra chicken wings, the platter had a variety of pork, potato salad, coleslaw, refried beans, fried potatoes and some other stuff, and it was amazing, absolutely delish. The wait staff were lovely, drinks were quick and so was food, and everyone was happy. Can't wait to go back here again, and again, and again!!!!

5 stars all round for this place!! I was excited to come here because I love American BBQ and it didn't disappoint. It's a small place that's dark and warm and welcoming and full of good smells and happy people. We had to wait a little bit for a table but we were able to get a huge mason jar of beer while we waited so that's a plus. The only downfall was we didn't realize you ordered at the counter as there were no signs so we waited a while before ordering. It was also a little hard to get table service for drinks but once you did your drinks came pretty quick. We literally ordered one of everything and thought this would cost a heap and it didn't! Between 4 of us we had way too much food and it was all delicious including chicken wings, beef brisket, potato salad, ribs, fried potatoes and corn on the cob. Amazing!! The drinks were awesome too, try the Rye and Fresh Apple Juice, I could have a million of them! I highly recommend, it's a great night out for friends or even date night if you love eating :)

Having had a Canadian colleague make the team some slow cooked ribs, bbq baked beans and hot sauces - my colleagues and I check out old faithful to determine how it measured up. The service is quick but you pay at the counter. You can start a tab at the table. Between the four of us we ordered the beef ribs, pork ribs, bbq chicken, deviled eggs, coleslaw, corn on the cob and their oreo cookie dessert. Their meat was mildly flavored. I had to lather my chicken in the "fucking hot sauce" which was not very hot to enjoy my meal The meat options come with sourdough bread with a sprinkling of onion. All of us were heaps disappointed. However my colleagues were impressed by the drinks options. They ordered a massive jug of beer.

Sitting here writing this while we wait for our food. It's been almost an hour since we ordered. Admittedly it's the last Friday before Christmas and they are busy however it would not hurt to let patrons know their kitchen is going to take a very long time to make some sandwiches. Something very simple as letting patrons know that their order will take longer than usual during one of the many times you pass their table in the span of an hour is the kind of attentive customer service that makes you want to return. That said, the food tastes good and is filling. Ladies (and management) should be aware there is a hole, perhaps 5cm diameter, near the front door in their wood floor. This is a huge trip hazard. At a glance it looks like a mark in the wood but it's a hole that a heel of a shoe easily will fall into. This should be patched up ASAP.

Went here to try the ribs for dinner. Did a walk-in and the staff were very accommodating to find a place for 2. Ordering is at a counter, and service was relatively quick. Ordered the pork ribs which were quite good but unfortunately they didn't peel off the bone. Good ambience to go with the boys, but for ribs, I would still say there are better options out there for ribs.

Came here today for the double cheeseburger special. Firstly if your going to call it a special and charge $18 for a burger, then make it special by maybe throwing in some fries or a beer just something! Seemed pretty over priced for a burger only but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and unfortunately I was a little underwhelmed. The bun was sloppy and could have been better if it was slightly toasted. The meat pattie itself was actually pretty tasty but did not hold very well at all and became a mince pie when I was finished with it and I ended up using a knife & fork provided. Overall the burger wasn't too bad but it just felt like it was missing something like some pickles (They do give you 2 little ones on top) but it needed more and the sauce was a little lacking. The table does have some sauces though so overcame that issue pretty quick. I give it a 6.5/10 based on the fact I've had a lot of better burgers in Perth. Maybe their meat platters are what they are known for and there is a great variety to choose from so I will definitely come back and try something else off the menu. I find it rude to solely judge a place on 1 menu option so in saying that I had a glass of delicious sly fox summer ale too that washed down a treat. Old Faithful 3.5 Stars

Heard good things, so we stopped by for some snacks and drinks - glad we did! Chicken wings were great; spicy and not over done. Corn on the cob was delicious. Corn bread was a little dry but the generous serve of maple butter fixed that. Friendly and relaxed staff. Definitely keen to head back again

Hungry and/or thirsty? Head here. Good communal dining setup in the King street heritage precinct. Sit down and order your bbq by the weight, or split a platter amongst friends. The Hot links are stuffed with cheese and have a nice bite.. the bbq itself is good too, but their corn bread really completes the deal. They always have a good selection of beers on tap to pair with your meaty requirements. Service was friendly and fast and they also cater for split billing, very helpful! Good spot for a planned night out with the guys for dinner, or an impromptu snack whilst roaming around the West end!

Amazing meats, and great value for money. The ribs I had didn't fall of the bone and maybe lacked a little sauce, but everything else was really good, and for $22.5 for a full rack of ribs, I wasn't complaining. It was wing's night, and I was smashing wings at 75cents a pop, dipping those bastards in a naughty ranch sauce. I ate myself into oblivion, and it only cost our table of two $60 including a drink- their beers on tap are great aswell. I loved the atmosphere of this place; I felt like I was in Melbourne. Service was top notch. I will definitely be coming back

For the record, I would only give this 3 stars but my comrades rated 4 stars so I was overruled. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere was amazing, the staff were excellent and friendly and so attentive. We ordered individual things because it ended up being cheaper than getting a platter and we got to have greens and mushrooms yuum. My main issue is that everything was COLD. The cornbread muffins would have been absolutely amazing, if they were HEATED UP! Such a simple thing, but it would have made a big difference. The meat as well, cold. The mushrooms? Cold. The smothered greens (kale with delicious juices) was warmish... But it was basically cold. Everything was delicious. But. Cold!?! This place is warm and noisy and hospitable, but oh my god I just want my food to be hot!!

I heard BBQ and I was there! Great meat, and great size portions! We all shared the old faithful platter between 5 of us which was more than enough. However i would recommend booking as we waiting an hour and half for a table even though they said itd be 40 mins and theyd call... They didnt. Small area, intimate some might say haha and its share table style. Ordering is done up at the till, not table service. Full bar available and they have yummy cocktails :) Id recommend going as it is yummy food

The first thing that I appreciate about this smokehouse is the menu where you order your meat by the weight. We attended with a group of six on a Saturday night and were seated within 20 minutes after enjoying a glass of wine from a great selection of wines from Spain and other regions. The meat is the star here. We ordered brisket, chopped pork, chicken, ribs, sides and shared so everyone in our party could taste all the feast laid out in front of us. Full satisfaction is the best way to describe the smokey, tender meat and delicious sides. I reccommend the rubbed broccoli and fried jalapeño peppers.

Ahh Old Faithful - I've been waiting to give you a shot once the opening jitters have been worked out, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to have happened. As a disclaimer, being from the south in the US, and having grown up with the best BBQ in the world, I knew going into it this wasn't going to be like home, but still, after hearing so many rave reviews, I expected much better. Drinks: The drinks were a highlight, with a good beer and liquor selection, and the jugs to share are a nice touch - we had a Lynchburg Lemonade jug ($40) between 3 of us and it went down quite well, and matched well with the food - tart and not too sweet, but refreshing. Non-BBQ food: Some of the best chicken wings I've had in Perth - relatively cheap as well, color me quite surprised! Some options on the sauce would've been nice but all in all I was impressed. The burnt-end beans were also quite good, almost like a brunswick stew (tip: add some fresh corn and you guys will have a winner). $10 for a large left the three of us doing quite well after sharing it. The fried pickles were also very nice, and served with a good aioli on them - they were cut small enough to be flavorful while not being overwhelming. BBQ Pork: Now this is where this gets bad. I've broken this down by the dishes we had, as some were very nice while others were not. Sliced Pork: Best meat of the night, was smoked well, served hot, and had a great flavor as well as some crunchy bits that added to the texture. Chopped Pork: I was hoping for a lot more on this. The meat was at room temperature, and had a nice taste and texture, but was not particularly memorable. The sauce helped a bit but serving this warm or hot would have likely brought out a lot more character and made this a winner. Hot Links: I cannot fathom why it is acceptable to serve these cold - I asked and they said that was the normal method - they were neither hot (spicy) nor had much smoke to them - the flavor was mild and not at all pleasant. We got 3 and there were 2 left when we were done with the meal. Ribs: Same boat as the hot links, but with a bit better flavor. The ribs were served cold, and had not been smoked anywhere near the needed amount of time. The flavor was nice but the meat was fairly tough and stuck to the bones - you had to make a good work at it to get everything off. The full 'rack' as well was a bit underwhelming on size - these are more like baby backs or this was a full rack off of a 3-4 month old hog. Dessert: We all split a slice of Pecan pie. The flavors were mushy and the texture was odd - it was served with a cinnamon whipped cream that did go well with it, but yeah, this was not very good. Service: The service was acceptable - the bar staff was fairly fast and attentive. Ordering at the food counter was odd in an outlet with the kind of price they had, as well as the self service for cutlery, plates, and napkins. The service arrangement works at the Classroom but if you're going to go self service and still have dinner for 3 working out to over $150 with drinks, the food better be a hell of a lot better. All up, while this is a decent stab at southern BBQ, the food and hospitality is completely lacking. While I might give it another try during the pangs of homesickness, I highly doubt I'll be back unless there's a sea change in the kitchen.

As promised - an update after giving it a little while to settle in. I've flitted in and out of here three or four times in the last few weeks - for everything from Saturday night drinks, mid afternoon snacks and the big night time banquet with a rowdy clan in tow. There are still a few things on the menu that are pretty take it or leave it; well okay, one thing - better cornbread and maple butter can be found on the opposite side of the train tracks at Pleased to Meet You, but you'll do well at Old Faithful if you stick to the meats. For $20 a head, you can get a decent spread for a group of six or more - we went for the $80 Big Sur Platter (Chopping Pig, Beef Brisket, Lamb Leg & Pig Middles, as well as enough sides for days) plus some extra Beef Ribs on the side ($15 a serve). I was met with that dreamy amber smoked meat that I've drooled over during every Man v. Food episode. I'm particularly fond of dousing the sweet, fatty brisket with their smokey barbecue sauce and moping up the meaty remnants with a hunk of crusty bread. It's all very primal and not very lady like - but if there's ever a time to leave a majority of your table manners at the door, this is it. By 4:45PM on a Saturday, there were a line of eager punters building up outside Old Faithful's doors and by 5:10PM, there was not a single empty seat in the house - the good word seems to already be getting around. If you're not fond of waiting around for 2 hours with a drink and nibbling your way through the bar snacks menu, get in early. Beyond being concept meets execution, there's also a well placed on the actual meat itself; it seems that they've really listened to the feedback that was propelled to them within the first few weeks and their commitment to keeping the food consistent has paid off. Also, don't leave without giving that milkshake a whirl ($14 though) - creamy vanilla and bourbon were just meant to be together.

Chicken and mushrooms, Corn bread and brisket! That's how it began, so good we had to order wings and black bean dip, which was followed by a Cinnamon and Blood orange cocktail (which was divine} and finished with the peanut butter oreo dessert. The venue is great, but the oversized tables and benches limit seating capacity. The service is limited to delivery, but when your order is presented, they are really professional. One thing that was really bothersome was you had to order drinks at the bar and then order food at the kitchen, or they could take you credit card and run a tab, but, you would still have to go fetch your food order. I expect that standard of a pub, but this is not a pub. I wouldn't recommend this place for a date as you would spend most of the time lining up to fetch food and drinks.

First time here and not disappointed. Before I get into this, NO, I haven't been to the home of smoked meats in the USA, but from the experience I had and the money I paid I have to say I walked away satisfied and with a grin on my face. On top of this it was the first meal back in Perth after a trip around Europe where I sampled many decent examples of food done right. We went for the Chicken wings, bbq chicken, lamb ribs, beef brisket, crispy pork chunks and chopped pig. The wine was decent. The cider went down nicely and the whiskey milkshake was surprisingly good. Bar staff were friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu and food didn't take to long to arrive once we had ordered our meal. The food came out nice and hot, moist (contrary to early reviews) and had a nice smokey flavour. The sauces that came with each bit of protein complemented it and completed the meal. It is a hands on affair and we thoroughly enjoyed getting our hands dirty. The price at the end seemed pretty fair considering what we had consumed. All in all a decent place to get some food and a decent whisky. Service was fast and friendly too.

I really love meat, whisky, and beer. Old faithful is my waking dream! We got a Big Sur between two (I like to think the "serves 3-5 people" is more a guideline than a rule) and it was fantastic, large hunks of meat, pulled pork, slaw, all good things. I don't remember using a knife and fork once, this was a very hands on 'I don't care what I look like' meal. I asked for a bottle of the 'f*cking hot sauce', because I'm ignorant and fool hearty, and guess what? It's really f*cking hot. Do not drown anything in this sauce or you will be showering the rest of your meal with salty tears of defeat. Will definitely be begging to eat here every night of the week.

I've eaten here a few times now, and I've enjoyed each meal. Last night I met up with my partner for dinner and we shared the following: 100 gram of chopped pig - tasty, tasty pig 1/2 rack of pig ribs - a little dry, but nice flavour 6 chicken wings - wing Wednesday = 70c per wing! We ordered 6 but received 8 for the same price Smoky fried potatoes - deeeeeelicious, especially when topped with a little house made sauce Green beans with peach and goats curd - I really dug this, an interesting combo Cornbread with maple butter - decent, but not as good as the cornbread at Pleased to Meet You All up with three beers (Feral) this cost around $70. We were absolutely stuffed (necessitating the loosening of buttons) and satisfied when we walked out the door. So why not five stars? There's one reason alone - the beef brisket. I've had it on three occasions now, and each time it's been a little dry and lacking in flavour. Considering this is an American Barbecue joint, you'd think they'd do great brisket, right?

Yummy yummy yummy I've got meat in my tummy... This place is ultra hipster. Upon entering I got my partner to roll up one of his pant legs at the cuff just to so we'd seem less like a couple of narcs trying to blend in. Service is great, staff are really friendly and able to manage the chaos of a full, popular bar on a Friday night. Drinks and food were soooo good. Any place that knows the value of deep-frying a pickle gets my vote. Maple corn bread is also one of my top picks - avoid the chili cocktail - it is super hot and was unfinishable for me. I will definitely be back!

This has to be one of the best value eateries in Perth. We ordered WAY too much food between two of us, but everything just sounded soooo good. Highlights of our hulking platter included the moreish beef brisket, the best corn bread I have ever had and those amazing fried pickles. The chicken wings and ribs were also great. The only let down was an underwhelming coleslaw, but you don't make friends with salad. Service was warm and attentive and the atmosphere was casual but cool. We'll definitely be back.

This place is pretty cool. I made the rookie mistake of upsetting the waitress. I think she didn't get my sense of humor. I need to work on that. Anyway we had a reasonable size group and I was the only one that ordered my own food. The main platter that came out for the guys was outstanding. Meat was juicy, flavorsome and tender. Mine came about 20 minutes later absolutely Leiden with EXTRA SALT. The two hillbillies in the kitchen thought they would teach me a lesson. So they get a zero from me on my food but this place is worth a try.

2nd time to visit here. Seating and billing system were different from first time. We ordered pork ribs, fried pickles, broccoli and cracklings this time. Pork ribs were sooooo good. All staffs were very friendly. I will def come back :)

Working around the corner from this little gem, it is a staple in the Friday drinks itinerary. The said drinks are often accompanied by some of their delicious fare (fried potatoes with blue cheese sauce are my favorite). Today I finally took the plunge and went there for lunch. The reason it took me so long is because I was worried that it would be too heavy. However, my BBQ chicken sandwich and my friend's chopped pork shoulder sandwich were flavorful, served in light fluffy burger buns with beautiful coleslaw. We were both bowled over by our sandwiches and vowed to go back for more.

We planned a dinner at Old Faithful with friends and family. However, we were told children (a 12 year old) were not permitted after 6pm.

On tour with They Might Be Giants. Stopped in for lunch. Ok I'm from Kansas City a bbq capital. So expectations not terribly high. This place killed it. Nice smoky chicken pulled pork club sandwich. Incredibly fresh ingredients and the flavors, describing them could not come close. Great ambience great service wish this place was in Los Angeles.

I'm here in Perth on business so I'm alone and usually end up eating at the bar in almost every place I go. Here was no exception. Came here Saturday night and the BBQ was on point. Had Chopped pig and brisket and sides of grilled corn and watermelon/jalepeno salad. The pork and brisket were juicy and tasty. The pork came with sauce on it. The brisket if it was pre-sauced was only lightly sauced. Try without adding sauce, you won't be disappointed. The BBQ sauce is good but not necessary at all. IMHO good BBQ doesn't need much sauce. I loved that I could order the various meats by weight. It allows for so many options. Both sides were good. I really liked the corn with the sauce and the gated cheese. Reminded me a bit of the grilled corn with cohita cheese and lime butter I find at places back home. As for the watermelon salad, I'm a sucker for watermelon with any sort of salt/vinegar/heat combo. Good but not great. And as with every place I've been here in Perth, the staff is friendly and relaxed. The other guests all seemed to be having a great time. To drink I had an old fashioned and a cider. The bartender was a perfectionist on the old fashioned and it showed. Thanks for making an American feel welcome.

When you're in the mood for meat, old faithful is everything you could ever ask for. I recommend to try a bit of everything, or share with a friend to find out what you like. The only bad thing I can say is that I was in one hell of a food coma after my meal. Pace yourselves people!

Walking into a cross between a scene from Good Will Hunting and some kind of trailer park bbq paradise guarantees a good time in my book. Highly authentic BBQ served up in friendly and exciting surrounds. Highlights for me include the brisket, the beans and the PICKLEBACK: bourbon with a pickle juice chaser. Don't ask me how, don't ask my why, just ask me to join you.

Best american bbq place around. Grab some mates and a hunger with some smoky beer to wash it down. The slaw needs to be fixed. Other than that it's bloody good. One of the few yank places in perth doing corn bread as well.

I am from Colorado and this is my favorite place in Perth when on business. The ox tongue is some of the best I have had, probably one of my favorite parts of quadrupeds and something I have at home on special occasions. The brisket and pulled pork are good as well. smothered greens are just as I would make them at home and the slaw is nice. They have a great whiskey and bourbon selection including HighWest from Park City, Utah. One of my top distilleries in the USA. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the wide variety of drinks. One of the staff even remembered me from a conversation almost 2 months prior. Way to go guys, I appreciate what you are doing for the food scene in Perth. Keep it up!

Meh, it isn't bad but nothing to brag about! The setup is cool, the drinks are nice, the staff are friendly, the food is alright, it's busy but the atmosphere is off and i can't put my finger on why!

Can't review the food because when I arrived on 6pm Saturday night with hungry hubby and two kids in tow a security guard informed us that under 18s aren't allowed in for dinner on the weekend! After he had a brief discussion with the GM, the rule was changed to "before 7 is ok." Never mind, by then we didn't feel welcome. Would have been nice to know beforehand...so here's the warning for others!

We chanced upon this place one evening. We were the lucky last few to get in before the queue started again. Extremely busy night! We ordered quite a few to share. I have to say they were all tasty. Oh that brisket ... I can still taste it in my head! We are going back to try more this weekend.
