The food was spectacular and very delectable. The trout and bison are locally sourced and the taste was fantastic. Due to the popularity however, the wait times can be quite long at dinner time and the food service can be pretty slow. $39 for an 8oz steak was a bit costly even for dining inside the park but the overall experience was great.

How can dinner be so gourmet and delicious but breakfast be so mediocre? Went very early in the season and we could clearly tell the staff are still getting into the groove. First we had dinner and the food was amazing, whatever the child boar curry pasta was, was simply devine. The bison short ribs were also amazing. Service was a bit slow, but also the place was completely full, no doubt service will get better later in the season. We went for breakfast on Sunday and we were very disappointed. Again service was a bit slow and I never got a nice I ordered but the food was by far the biggest let down. The “breakfast potatoes” were just tater tots. It wasn’t particularly pricey but we should have just done the breakfast buffet thing. My eggs were over done and my wife’s pancakes were undercooked. The bacon however was just right.. Would go back just for dinner, would avoid for breakfast.

We had a great meal! I ordered onion rings and bison short ribs with French fries subbed in. The onion rings had a great batter and were very crunchy. The bison was absolutely fantastic! Very juicy and tender with great flavor. The ambiance is a perfect balance between rustic and modern. The service was attentive with water refills and friendly. A treat and luxury fitting for such an idyllic setting.

Fried Ravioli tastes good. Bison rib steak has a unique flavor, I am not a huge fan of it. Strongly recommend crispy duck leg, it’s good. The price here is acceptable, considering in Yellowstone it’s a five star restaurant.

Decent but expensive place. We had dinner and breakfast here. Duck legs were excellent. Steak was done properly and the sides tasted well. Service was prompt. Felt they should have a bit more extensive menu but given the constraints, it is understandable. Breakfast was terrible. Nothing stands out in the buffet and pretty mediocre.

We had a wonderful dining experience at the Obsidian Dining Room at Old Faithful Snow Lodge. The service was outstanding — special thanks to Joy for taking such great care of us! We ordered the bison short rib, duck wings, and the beet salad, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the presentation was lovely. This meal was truly one of the highlights of our stay in Yellowstone. Highly recommend if you're visiting the area!

Google
The breakfast buffet was very disappointing. Most of the items were low-quality, fast food-style options, and nothing was replenished once it ran out. The pork sausage tasted overwhelmingly greasy, and the donuts were dry and rock-hard—likely left out for far too long. While the service staff was friendly, it took way too long just to get seated.

I love the Braised Bison Short Ribs! It’s worth the value. The Crispy Duck Leg is mediocre. Overall best restaurant in Old Faithful but be alert waiting time is around 45 mins and no reservation could be made. We shopped near the restaurant to spent time.

Yelp
Similar to our breakfast at old faithful, the wait staff felt a bit awkward. Maybe since it's earlier in the summer season, but everyone just seemed a little unsure. I got the trout - it was actually quite good but small on the sides- was still hungry. At $31, that's unfortunate Dining companion had cheeseburger and fries- fries were great, she ate full burger I think this was a move. Again, not cheap at around $20 They were all out of bison chili which is what I really wanted. Expensive meal but food is ok

Yelp
We had a delightful evening meal in the Obsidian Restaurant in August of 2023. In fact, the meal was the culinary highlight of our 3-week tour through the greater Yellowstone area and Sun Valley, ID. We started the meal with some very tangy, perfectly prepared Duck Wings. Yes, Duck Wings. Crispy, slightly spicy and meaty, the wings were mouth watering. The second appetizer was Bison Tartar. Delicious. The main course was even better - juicy, tender bison short ribs. Perfectly prepared, the meat fell off the bone. Just gamey enough to set them apart from mundane beef ribs. We were really bummed that we could not return the next night!

Yelp
After checking in at our cabin we decided to see what the food options were. We decided to try the obsidian. We stopped in around 5pm to see if reservations were required. They do not take reservations. There was a 90 minute wait so we added our names to the list and were given a beeper. Walked around the entire old faithful boardwalk area to kill some time, checked out the old faithful inn and wondered what their dining options were. Came back to check our status and had one party in front of us. The ambiance was more of a cafeteria setting. We ordered a glass of Pinot noir, the airline chicken w/cheesy grits, summer squash slaw w/hot honey. Also ordered the Caesar salad, a cup of the yellow curry lentil & quinoa soup and the demi-baguette. The presentation was good however the chicken was extremely dry, grits were bland, slaw was not identifiable as summer squash also no flavor. The ceasar salad was good, crisp and flavorful with crunchy croutons. The lentil & quinoa soup was good also. The demi-baguette was very tough. The total was $68.66. Very disappointing. I recommend bringing your own food if possible when visiting Yellowstone National park.

Yelp
Would have to say the food quality and lack of flavor is driving my rating. When most are not looking forward to dinner, that is a bad sign. Unfortunately you're held a bit hostage since this is the only dining place you can go to eat. Lunch may be better here since I believe the sandwich lunches put together for the day trips are from here. The bag lunch sandwiches were pretty decent. We didn't eat here for lunch but when we asked for the sandwiches for dinner they told us they couldn't make them for dinner :(. I tried their bison burger (dry and not cooked as requested), then their trout (no luck there either), then their pork chops which finally was acceptable since I loved their whipped cauliflower which I replaced the mashed potatoes with them. I also tasted their chicken and sausage pasta (didn't like it and most others didn't either). Sigh. I hope if we ever go back we find the food is better; however the though the thought of being given those dinner options may be enough to make us think twice about going back there in the winter when you cant go anywhere else to eat!

Yelp
The dining at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge was far superior to the Old Faithful Inn. Although they don't take reservations, we were seated after only a short wait. Excellent choices, service was very attentive even though the staff was short. Food was very beautifully prepared and displayed.

Yelp
I wish I could give it a negative star review. 39.99 buffet and food was way below average. So bad you will not go back for seconds. One desert!!?? A mushy apple crisp. No ice cream. Nothing. Bill was over 85 for two people no drinks just water. And we were hungry cause food was terrible. Dont waste your money. Go to the cafe. Eat the bugs on the road but dont go here.

Yelp
Dark dining room with expensive prices when the menu was very similar to other Yellowstone dining g options, but simply with smaller portions and better waiter service. We were unimpressed with the trout, as it was small and lacked flavor.

Yelp
Food was fine but nothing to write home about. Our server was awesome tho! I think her name was lily. She was super friendly and made it a good experience.
