Old Faithful Snow Lodge Obsidian Dining Room

I always love to see a good restaurant in national parks, as we sometimes can't find anything to eat after hiking. They serve game here. I expected this place to be just a regular American restaurant, but I was surprised that the dishes are made from game, bison, boar, etc. Game meat is not my favorite, so I won't rate this place based on my opinion. However, the people who went with me said all the dishes were good. That said, the boar pasta and chili were delicious in my opinion. The service was slow but really friendly.

Service was great, and I was quite happy to see duck leg and pasta after eating so many burgers/wraps/sandwiches in the park. The crispy duck leg was good and I loved the corn puree, although I'd hope that there was less amount of minced garlic (might be better if some of them were cooked rather than raw) which took over the taste and I could still smell it before sleep... I didn't find the pasta impressive, but my partner was happy. Pricey, but not too much to complain for a restaurant in the park.

The best part of this hotel is its location inside the park, and a walking distance to the Old Faithful, the village, and a few hiking trails. The room is rather small but enough for a small family. There was a construction right in front of our room during our stay but didn’t bother us as we were out all day. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

I’m surprised the reviews are so low. We had a good experience dining here. Staff is friendly, food is good. Entries are a bit on the pricier end, but the portions are big and the appetizers are reasonable priced.

My experience seems to be dramatically different than many of the others leaving reviews. Friendly service, timely quality food from kitchen, no pressure to rush us as I finished sneaking in 4th quarter of a game 7 in the NBA Playoffs from my phone.

I have had a bison burger, but really enjoyed the bison short ribs. The bison chile was good. The duck was delicious as well. Service is fast and friendly, Kamil did a great job!

Food was ok but not to good, the pasta wild boar tasted weird but the fish was delicious. The waiters took forever but they were very nice. The wait time took estimated 45 minutes for a party of seven, but we got in early. I will only go to this place if I need to and are hungry otherwise no.

Based on reviews and the fact that this was the only place to have dinner, we had low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Each person we interacted with was hard working, helpful and friendly. Menu selections were more than we expected and all of our meals were delicious! Even the presentation was well done. Truly the best dinners we have had in a National Park location. The reservation system worked out well. Some nights we did have to eat a bit later than we wanted, but it was fine. We only had lunch one day, but it was amazing! Much quieter than dinner.
