On the Grid : Old and Famous Jalebiwala

"The jalebis (deep-fried and sugar-soaked sweet) at the Old and Famous Jalebiwala are indeed famous, but the aloo (potato) or mattar (peas) stuffed samosas truly steal the cake (er, jalebis?). It's worth waiting for fresh batches of both, most especially on a crisp winter morning. Treat yourself further by walking a few metres into Dariba Kalan, the traditional jewelry market-street of Old Delhi, and turning onto Gali Khajanchi to get a peek at the stunning Haveli Khajanchi (Treasurer's House)." - Delhi Dallying

Finally tried the famous Jalebi with Rabri from Jalebi Wala — honestly, it didn’t live up to the hype for me. I was expecting something exceptional, but it felt pretty average. I’ve had better jalebis at other places, so this one just seemed like another overhyped spot. Not bad, but definitely not worth the buzz in my opinion.

Jalebi and Rabdi at one of the oldest sweet street food places. The shop has been around for over 140 years and is still going strong, now managed by the fourth generation. Their jalebis are rich, generously sized, and made in desi ghee, priced at ₹600 per kg. The rabdi, also ₹600 per kg, pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the jalebi. It’s a classic combo that hits the spot. It’s a basic place, always busy, but the taste is amazing. A great spot for a classic Delhi sweet.

Just hype of insta/youtube food vloggers. I ordered Jalebi with rabdi and 2 samosa. Nothing special, Just an ordinary Jalebi with Rabri and the size of samosa was small. It cost me 150rs. 100 for rabri with jalebi and 50 for 2 samosas. I think it is too much for that but the thing is it's worth it if the taste is good but it was not. Dirty unhygienic shop and street. You may find even better tastes of jalebi and samosa in any small town or village across India.

The moment a fresh jalebi touches your tongue, time seems to pause. Golden, crisp, and dripping with syrup, jalebi isn’t just a sweet—it’s an experience. The first time I bit into one, it was still warm from the kadhai, its spiral shape glistening with sugary perfection. The crisp outer shell cracked gently, releasing the warm, sticky syrup that flooded my senses with sweetness. There was a slight tang, too, from the fermented batter—a perfect balance to the sugar rush. The air around the sweet shop was filled

Over 140 years of history, and this place still knows how to win hearts. I went straight for the jalebi-rabdi combo and it was pure bliss. The rabri was silky and decadent, the jalebis thick, dripping with syrup, and oh-so-good. Just thinking about it now is making me crave another plate.

141 years old shop currently run by 4th generation. They offer limited options but do an excellent job in preparation. Jalebi Rs600/kg and samosa (aaloo and matar) Rs25 each are made in desi ghee. Rabdi Rs600/kg without any sugar goes really well with jalebi. They have maintained their reputation. If you are around, then this shop is highly recommended. Walking distance from Gurudwara Sis Ganj, Fountain Chowk, Omaxe Chowk, Lal Qila.

I visited this place so many times. They sell jalebi with rabri . They sell matar samosa too. As per location food is overpriced. Usually we find so much crowd because of it location centre of the market. He should make inside of this jalebi. This is very place so dust comes with his crowd.

I tried the famous Jalebi—it tastes amazing and is made with pure ghee, though the price is a bit high.
