I had a wonderful experience at the distillery in Louisville. Our tour guide was outstanding and he provided a knowledgeable and funny experience. I greatly enjoyed his dad jokes. The most interesting facts learned were of them being the first to commercialize bottle and of the book written by their founder to combat the Temperance movement. The four spirits we tasted were all outstanding and the chocolate covered marshmallows were amazing as well. I have now added Old Forrester to my collection. Also this is the first distillery tour I went on where the barrel making is done in house and the toasting and charring is witnessed. It was very fun.

After touring some distilleries across Kentucky before arriving at Old Forester I can easily say that this tour is probably the most comprehensive. If you had to choose just one while in Louisville or even across KY, Old Forester is a solid decision. Many other tours don’t have the greatest history or you get to see one or two pieces of the operation. Here you get to see the steps and gain a better understanding of how it came to be, hear interesting stories and history, all of it presented in beautiful fashion. The tour is well thought out, clean and tailored for a great experience. Definitely make the stop if you can only do one.

Our knowledgeable host took us on a fun tour, explaining the whole process. The distillery is really set up as a showpiece and not the entire business’s production facility, for obvious reasons but you get a great idea of how the operation works. Then we got to taste a nice lineup with good detail on how they make the different expressions using the same mashbill. The very best part was getting to push the button to char a barrel!

This tour was amazing. Trish our tour guide was the BEST. She really knew her stuff and was so informative and entertaining. The tour was so fascinating. Had such a great time. The people in the gift shop were also very helpful and friendly. Thank you Old Forester and your staff.

Came in town for my birthday and Old Forester didn’t disappoint. Noah was the best tour guide of our trip. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and polite when questions were asked. Loved the in depth look at the process and of course the tasting was great. You can tell this was well planned out and flowed from room to room to truly tell a story. The history spoke to our medical backgrounds, for sure! Old Forester is my favorite whiskey brand and the tour/tasting only heightened that!

On this day, I started with this tour and it really set me up for the rest of the day due to how influential the founders and company are to other brands. This tour really differentiated itself with the barrel making as a stop on the tour. Really good history and walk through of how to make bourbon. Tasting was good. Best part was this unbelievable marshmallow to go along with some of the more caramel and toasted tasting ones. Loved the little souvenirs I got along the way too. Appreciated also the access to something special to purchase by going on the tour. Again, adds a little differentiation to the experiences. And I’m super glad I did this tour before Angel’s Envy. Really sets you up to appreciate the legacy of their taste master to his own mark on the industry.

Really enjoyed my trip here! As a Louisville native, it was long overdue. Very cool to hear about the distilling process and get a chance to tour the facility. The best story and bottle for me was by far the Whisky Row series 1910. Class act. Cheers

Old Forester Distillery is a great destination in Louisville. Our tour guide, an older gentleman, provided extensive information with a sense of humor (sorry I cannot remember his name). The distillery is larger than it appears from the storefront. It’s a darker theme throughout, with spotlights on many infographics. The tour covers the entire bourbon-making process from distilling, to barrelling, to bottling, through their extensive facility. The facility is well organized, with stops at each key step in the process. Our tour guide offered detailed information at each stop. The tour ended with a tasting of four bourbons, accompanied by further information about the bourbons. Overall, the tour is informative, the bourbon is great, and I highly recommended the tour.
