Can't complain about the service, as it's non existent. (Update: Just watched an elderly couple walk out after waiting 60minutes) One waitress and one chef rostered on for the whole dinner service. I'm sure the waitress and Chef were doing their best but tables were left waiting extremely long to order and even longer for food to arrive. Management need to roster on more staff. Interior decor aims to meet that of a German beer hall and looks reasonable.

We ordered the giant pretzel with the cheese spread—delicious and perfect for sharing. Tried a German beer, and the bartender recommended adding lemonade to make it a shandy. We loved it! Great atmosphere and friendly service. Definitely a fun spot to stop by in Milwaukee.

Google
This place was a great surprise!! We tried a sampler platter. Everything was exactly what German food should taste like.

Becky was an awesome waitress! Everything she recommended was delicious and all of the guests and staff were friendly. Definitely stop by for great beer and traditional German food!!

I've been to Germany with the military, and this place is the real deal. I'm not a drinker, but the friend I ate with was very complementary of their liquid refreshments. We had lunch, and it was superb (Weissgerber Smoked Bratwurst, hot potatoe salad. Spätzel and sauerkraut). It was worth the trip!!!! Great atmosphere, and it filled up right after we arrived. Monday mid-day and hopping. I will for sure be back on my next trip!

Google
We had an excellent time at OGBH! Food was hot, fresh, and well priced in comparison to other German restaurants in the area.

Google
The pretzel and cheese curd were legit . The bartender was great and the beer selection was pretty good.

Best ever! If you want a down to earth / non tourist trap german beer hall, this is the place! Great food, great beer, great people, best bartender!

Yelp
This place was definitely better during and pre pandemic but the food is still really good. They have at least one really good bartender a taller brunette lady. The rest of the staff when we were there seemed kinda crummy, and really didn't care who was enjoying their visit except their regulars. Good music especially when it drowns out some of the old man bar convos. The pretzel is AMAZING, maybe enough for 3 or 4 to split. And the chicken schnitzel is super tasty, splurge and get the mushroom gravy with it too

Yelp
Went for Daily Lunch Special Food - 5/5. The restaurant's food was a perfect example of how the simplest cooking methods with high quality ingredients can yield the most incredible flavors. Bratwurst had a rich, savory flavor that was balanced out by their use of spices. It was firm yet tender with a satisfying snap on its skin. Bread was toasted well, creating a good texture balance with the bratwurst. Mustard was the only condiment needed to boost the sausage's natural flavor. Sauerkraut had a mild sourness, acting as a palate cleanser. Spatzle had a good bite with a simple butter coating that made it easy to taste its savory and slightly nutty flavor. The cheese curds were amazing. This was our first time having cheese curds in Wisconsin, and it was a phenomenal experience. There is a springy bite to the cheese that is so satisfying and fun to chew, with each bite gushing out an umami flavor. Despite being fried, it was not very heavy, with the batter adding a subtle crispy texture that balanced out the softness of the cheese. Ranch provided a tangy creaminess, which was a prefect fit for the richness of the cheese curds. Service - 5/5. Friendly with a relaxed demeanor that felt very true to the Midwestern culture. When we informed the server it was our first time in Wisconsin, he insisted that we have to try the cheese curds and offered it to us on the house. He was happy just to see our initial reaction to this amazing dish and we are thankful that he took the lead to create this memorable experience. We replied the kindness later in our bill, but there was no expectation of a trade, and their genuine kindness was very much appreciated. Value - 5/5. They had a lunch offer where a bratwurst is included with the purchase of a liter. Liters were priced in the $10-15 range with a bratwurst being $8. Beer is very entwined with the local dining culture, so it was a great deal to try two local favorites. Prices in general were very reasonable with appetizers in the single digits to low $10s, and side dishes being $4 each. Excellent location to try local Milwaukee favorites! Parking - Street (Metered)

Yelp
1/2 off litres on Sundays = $7 for a gigantic beer! I opted for the Dunkel and man o man it was amazing! It was a two handed stein for sure! What a bargain! The bartender was so kind and friendly. The smoked bratwurst had really good flavor, but the potato salad fell a bit short for me. I've been to Germany many times and that just wasn't it. Needless to say, I would return!

Yelp
My husband brought us in for the hammer game! Disclaimer: I had NEVER played the hammer game before. It was so simple and so much fun! I was kind of dreading this stop because I had my daily plan all set and my husband was pushing for this stop. I am glad he did as it was fun! I mean our 3 and 13 year old got in on the fun as well. But the adults really just kept at it. (Pretty simple- there is a wood stump and a special nail you get at the bar. You get your nail started in the stump, then you go around in a circle taking turns taking one wack at the nail. Men can only use one hand, women can use two. Whomever gets the nail in first wins!) I can't say much about the establishment as it had just opened, I did not have food or drink, I just hammered! This review supports the hammer.

Yelp
Very good, traditional German food. Variety of German beer to go along with it. Beer Hall atmosphere with good service.

Yelp
This was a long time bookmark and the new restaurant of the week so I stopped by for lunch. I have been craving Jagerschnitzel and spatzle so I said let's drive downtown, pay for parking and go, smash that crave. I got lucky and I found an open meter at the end of the block and put 12 quarters in it so I didn't have to pay lot prices. The place is long and narrow with a huge nice bar as you walk in with tables in the back. The bartender seemed nice enough who seemed to know the 4 people at the bar, regulars day drinking. The menu has some nice options but I was on a mission for jagerschnitzel and spatzel. Based on the bartender suggestion I ordered a 1/2 pint of a dark beer which was good. I'm excited and I place my order only to find the guy come back from the kitchen to tell me that they don't have the mushroom sauce, seriously you can't make your signature German dish and you are the German beer hall. What ever I'm already here so just give me the chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel comes with frys and the spatzel was a side option. The spatzel wasn't seasoned so I went to dig through the table fixings and there was no salt or pepper in it. The spatzel was good with nice texture. The frys were seasoned nicely and cooked to order because the were still crispy and had some heat left in the so probably a couple minutes old and good. The chicken schnitzel was crispy and paper thin cooked to order and probably the thinnest schnitzel I have ever had, see my pictures next to the thin cut frys. Overall it's very disappointing to drive downtown and deal with parking hassles only to find out that the one menu item you specifically came for from the menu isn't available.

Yelp
This review is based on my experience with OGBH at Germanfest this past weekend. They have the BEST pretzel I have ever had. I'm pretty sure I will dream of this pretzel for years to come. Perfectly baked exterior, light, fluffy and inviting interior. Just chewy enough, not tough at all but won't fall apart easily. Paired with their cheese spread, this is a match made in heaven. Also, this pretzel is HUGE. Easily split between 3 people. My sister and I basically had this for a meal. Won't speak to the atmosphere and service since this was at the festival. Great experience overall.

Yelp
It was a decent spot. The food was good, the barkeeps were all fun. Chatty until they couldn't be (the place filled up). Decor is a nice facsimile of a German Beir Hall. They have a very heavy Hofbrauhaus theme, TJ the point where I wonder about trademark infringement. I stopped in because I was headed next store to the Milwaukee Brat House but they were packed and as I love the HB I thought this was an HB as well (nope). Great little "Germantown" area. As they serve HB Beirs (seems exclusively I will go back because I love the beir and the full pint mug.
google avatar

Yelp
I really wanted to go here because I saw some photos and thought it was like some of other Hofbrau locations throughout the US, but I was quickly corrected that they are not a "franchise", so I was even more excited to try out and independently run beef hall that serves the fantastic Hofbrau beers! The menu is a little limited, and we were just in for drinks, but the chicken schnitzel looked amazing and one of the staff behind the bar made some cheese curds that, in his words, would ruin cheese curds forever... Next time, we'll have to order food. The beers were all amazing! You can get a .2 liter, half liter or liter and the half/full liters are served in branded Hofbrau mugs. I had the original, dopplebock, marzen, dunkle and dunkleweizen. I'm very familiar with all of these beers, but it certainly is a different experience to have them fresh on draught. The bar staff were all amazing and held up a decent conversation with the entire bar, so it was a really fun time! The space itself is pretty amazing... very much "old world"... The area down from the bar has communal seating and looks like it could hold a good crown for some German singalongs, but I don't know if they do that... An awesome place for sure if you enjoy real German beer!

Yelp
Great place, good people, cold beer. Always fun, try and get nailed while you're here.

Yelp
Four of us came on a Friday noon not because the name of the place attracted us, but because friends recommended the platter of German specialties. Four Wurst and a Kassler (smoked pork chop), each different and all from Usinger's across the street), Rotkraut, Sauerkraut, Potato Salad, Spaetzle, Marble bread and butter and Ubatzda, a Bavarian cheese spread. All for $30. Three of us shared this and one person had a Kassler plate with Rotkraut and Potato Salad for $17. The OGBH Platter was a deal, not because it was an authentic preparation, but because it was reasonably priced. For a "Beer Hall," other places in Milwaukee will offer a larger German draft selection (Von Trier has triple the number). If you're not German or a chef and are looking for some of Milwaukee's German tastes and textures, this place is worth a stop. (The only dessert is a Strudel which is an adaption to true Austrian/German layered-dough, but is very good!)

Yelp
Full disclosure....I am a wimpy beer drinker.. That being said ...the beer here is excellent...just too filling for me... True German beers. And on Friday afternoon..they tap a FREE keg ....when it kicks... Then you have to pay for beers. Manager was super nice, very knowledgeable, great recommendations It's a German style bar/pub restaurant...the brats were very good and now I know what spaetzel is supposed to taste like...it was delicious.( All of my previous spaetzel experience was apparently horrible) Typically this is not my type of place.. just due to beer intensity However..if this is your thing check it out... I'm just trying to get the whole Milwaukee experience and this place was great.

Yelp
My favorite kind of beer is German and this place has it goin on. I always start with a Hofbrau Dunkle. Then I work my way over to a Hofbrau original. Slim always seems to be my bartender when I'm there. Also, I signed up for the permanent mug, and I hope that this thing comes through to give me more reason to show up and enjoy my Hofbrau beverage. Also, I partake in a nice stomach settling shot of Underburg. They have some neat flare on the wall and it's definitely a place y'all need to check out. It's a slice of Germany/Milwaukee put together!!
google avatar

Jenna W.

Yelp
Fun and lively place to have a beer and watch soccer! Classic German beers are available as well as some rotating American/local ones. The food is also excellent. I've had their pretzel, corned beef with French fries, and sausage platter. All are delicious. They have live polka music on Friday evenings along with free drinks from a keg of beer they tap at 6pm (first come, first serve until the keg runs out). It's street parking, which can be a pain depending on the time of day and what else is going on in the Deer District but I've always been able to find something.

Yelp
Authentic & cool, this beer hall feels like a piece of the old country on Old World Third Street. They got outdoor seating in the summer, & beer mugs as big as your head!! If you like smoked meats, you gotta try the landjaeger. It's $6, but so satisfying & unlike anything you can get otherwise without import fees. The staff has always been nice, & I'm pretty sure they got beer tastings as well as live music sometimes. If you are in from out of town & you want to find an authentic german experience after usinger's or after a Bucks game, you really cannot go wrong here.

Yelp
I was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the RNC convention 2024. Before my flight back home I wanted to do some sightseeing and go to a German restaurant to taste their hot dog. I found this place in downtown Milwaukee. Very pleasant outdoors seating if you want to be outdoors and there's also the restaurant indoors. The food was good as expected. Atmosphere was inviting and friendly food servers. Very close to the Riverwalk. I enjoyed it very much.

Yelp
The bar tenders were awesome, and the ambiance was fun old German-American. All of the staff were friendly, entertaining, and attentive. We were there late on 4th of July so the kitchen wasn't serving everything. We were able to get a pretzel which was big enough to feed my wife and I. Will definitely go back if I have time on this trip or am in town again.

Jonathon L.

Yelp
Visited on a very busy Saturday night. This place was awesome!!! Loved the food, atmosphere, and service. Will most certainly be coming back when I am visiting. Large portions for the right price. I got the cheese curds and the Hofbrauhas Wurst Platter. I wish I had taken photos but it was great. The cheese curds are hand cut and made in house, not frozen from a bag like others.

Yelp
This is my favorite bar in Milwaukee. Everything about this place is perfect: the atmosphere, the food, and, most importantly, the beer. When you walk in the door, you almost feel like you've been transported to an intimate bar in Germany. The best table in the house is right next to the front window and door. The seating is bench style at a long table with ample space for a big crowd or room for you and a few friends to really spread out. The second best spot is right smack dab at the bar with one of the friendly bartenders. Although if there is a band and you're in the mood to get the party started, move further into the space and grab one of the long tables. Don't be afraid to sing along and maybe play a round of hammerschlagen (in the corner). The entire menu looks great, but my favorite item is the pretzel. A frosty beer and pretzel cannot be beaten here, and I implore you to follow my lead and indulge. These pretzels are perfectly salted and are huge. I can barely finish a quarter of these things, but my friends and random people at the bar are always willing to help me out. The beer selection is fantastic, and they also have a full bar if you prefer a mixed drink or shot. That reminds me... If you have a group of friends or make a new group of friends while you're there, then opt for the shot-ski. I recommend Rumpleman's for the shots it's refreshing and really gets you going! 10/10 Lederhosen .... Prost! P.S. Don't forget to kiss the goat & ring the bell!

Yelp
First timer, go into bar and see on "thursdays it's buy 1 Get 1.. I order a beer and she charged me for 1 beer but didn't offer the second one free? It's 530pm! Not sure if this is a promotion or I am just wrong but i will never know Bc I'm not local! overall expected more but hard to expect a lot nowadays with people wanting to work!! WurstplAte was GREAT!! Also male bartender/Food runner was great! Very nice! I just wish they asked me if I had been here before Bc I had no idea about specials or anything? Do I sit down and order? Go to bar and take it outside? Just no direction and with Covid every restaurant is different!

Yelp
This place totally brought me back to Oktoberfest in Munich. It was my first visit down to old world in the little German area. It was so cute! The beer hall gave us everything we expected. Giant beer and a ton of sausage! It was a great place to start a very great day!
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Great beer and food, as you would expect from a Hofbrauhaus. Service was ok, I think they may been short staffed the day I was the there. Also, I was sitting in the dining area in the back and it was very loud. There were a lot of people there but my wife and I couldn't hear each other talking.
google avatar

Yvonne Y.

Yelp
Kids loved the chicken schnitzel and I really enjoyed the sausage sampler with the sauerkraut, warm potato salad and red cabbage salad. Great outdoor tables and you can catch some sports on the outdoor tv. Great selection of beer is a given.
google avatar

Squid1986 ..

Yelp
Delicious German beer and sausages. Owners/management need to step up though, the bartender is also the cook and is also serving food. Hire some help for the poor guy! He still did an outstanding job despite all the hats he was wearing

Yelp
It's a great fun place, with good brats and an amazing staff. The atmosphere was really fun and it get very much like the proper pubs that I miss from my younger years. What really makes this place is the charming staff and their love of engaging with their visitors. I could have stayed here all night, but I was a bit tired. Thank you for making that such a fun night.

Yelp
Everything was delicious, seriously order it all, bartender service was too notch! Very cool ambiance!

Yelp
I regularly go with my friends, and it is such an amazing atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, and very helpful. They regularly have great deals. And the food is impecable.

Yelp

Yelp
Amazing place! Food, fun, music!! The polka band was excellent. The food was great and authentic. The crowd was diverse, but very fun. Strongly recommend!

Yelp
We were going to go to Mader's, but it was late and their menu looked cheaper, smaller portions, and better Yelp reviews.. So we decided to give it a try. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. I feel bad that I didn't get her name. We both got the Jäger chicken schnitzel but subbed the pommes on one for German potato salad and the other with spätzle. Oh the gravy. It was the perfect portion for such a late dinner. Our drinks never went empty. They also had an oompa band if you like German music. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Beth H.

Yelp
We have eaten here many times and have always been impressed by the food and service. We came in today and ordered the chicken schnitzel tenders. When they arrived, they were heavily burnt. We summoned the server Kayla, who made every excuse imaginable why they were not cooked appropriately. As we were in a hurry, we asked that the uneaten basket be taken off the bill, yet she refused. She said she would remake them correcfly, however, when she returned, the second and third basket that she had prepared were also burnt to a crisp. They were completely inedible but she insisted that since she remade them, they would not be taken off the bill, despite the fact they were in the same horrendous condition as the first basket. Terrible food and terrible service.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for something to eat, but it was kind of late. Luckily Old German Beer Hall (You will see the blue Hofbrau Munchen sign out front) is open until 2 am on Monday night, when we came (we came in a little before 10:30 pm). Even better is that street parking is free after 8 pm. I was a little hesitant to come here after reading in several reviews that other Yelp members had received rude service and only appears to serve locals. Being from out of town (and also Asian... let's just be honest, there aren't a whole lot of Asian people out here, so it makes it very obvious that we are clearly not from around here), I was expecting that to happen to us. But I was surprised by the friendly bartender when we walked in and sat at the bar. He greeted us and took our order. We ended up getting: Giant Pretzel & Obatzter, $10 prior to tax- The obatzter is good here. Obatzter is a Bavarian spread that goes well with bread, especially breaded pretzels. I have been to other German bars that have disappointing obatzter but this was very good. The pretzel itself was a pretty big size (but I must say that the pretzel Milwaukee Brat House, which is down the street, is ridiculously big) that is plenty for more than 2 to share. The pretzel was hot when it was brought out, which went so well with the obatzter. It was soft and just the perfect thing to eat for late night. Highly recommend ordering this, with the obatzter. Hofbrau Hefe Weizen Dunkle- Unfiltered Dark Wheat, 0.5 L Size, $8- I like German beer and thought this beer was pretty good. My husband and I shared this (he had most of it though). It had a good flavor. ------------------------- (Total= $18.60 after tax, prior to tip) After we got our food, we moved to one of the large tables in the next room because we thought the bar was just a bit cramp. Here in this room, there was this party of 3 trying to pound their nails into this large rock with this crazy looking hammer. You can purchase 20 nails for $10, which also includes a T-Shirt. This didn't really appeal to me but the group of 3 trying to hammer in their nails seemed pretty amused (sure if I was buzzed, I would probably find it to be enjoyable too). The ladies restroom was clean upon this visit and the free WiFi was easy to get onto and fast. Overall, we had a good time. The vibe was casual, which is what you would want in a bar. But since we came in rather late, you may have a different experience during the day and on weekends. There is outdoor seating that is right outside. But when we came, people were smoking so if that bothers you (which does me), you may not want to bring your 4 legged friend and sit out here.

Yelp
True Score: 4 Stars Hammering Nails We had lunch at the Old German Beer Hall on a drizzly Saturday. Even though it was early in the afternoon, there were already some "well lubricated" 20-somethings playing the pound-the-nail-into-the-stump game and laughing uproariously. And the beer-hall music, when it came on, was really loud. I've been to beer halls in Germany, and the atmosphere is pretty authentic. We had the giant pretzel (with cheese and mustard for dipping), the wurst sampler (with saurkraut, potato salad, red cabbage), a curry wurst, and the pork wings. Everything was good, but the pork wings were fantastic. Definitely get them if you're eating here. My wife had a Paulaner Hefe-Weizen which is really good from the tap (what you can buy in a bottle just doesn't taste the same). I had their locally brewed root beer which was also good. Thanks

Yelp
Being first generation American with all my living relatives in Bavaria, this feels like home. Good food bad of course good bier and Gemütlichkeit Currywurst Hofbräuhaus Wurst Platter

Yelp
My first visit here was during unseasonably warm weather in Wisconsin, so we got to sit outside in November! The table set up is very good for social distancing. Beers were excellent, as expected, and prices were reasonable. Our server, Kayla, was friendly and we had a nice conversation about current events. This was a great way to launch our trip! I'll return when I'm back in the area.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
The food was very good but the beers were what made the visit excellent. They offer Hofbrau beers from Germany which is very tasty. The waitstaff was also very friendly.

J S.

Yelp
A fun place to hang out. Good food, good beer and great service from Olivia!! We sat next to the kitchen and enjoyed chatting it up with the chef for food recommendations ... he even took the time to come out to our table and see how everything was ... that's something that doesn't happen at eateries enough. Thanks for the great hospitality from Olivia and our great Chef ... 3/10/23

Yelp
I went here last weekend to watch my favorite soccer team play, and there was also a cribbage tournament so it was extremely busy. The bartender was the same guy who has worked every time I've came(I think his name is Van?). This made me happy. He is the most helpful and hard working employee I have ever seen at any bar. I ordered the Schnitzel tenders with a side of Jäger sauce because I don't eat the fries when I order a schnitzel anyways. It was AMAZING! A fair warning though, they changed the Jäger(mushroom) sauce. It's not any worse or better, it's just a different flavor profile you're introduced to. It's very peppery, but still creamy and it still has that earthy mushroom flavor you love. It was delivered about 10 minutes after I ordered, so even while they're busy, they'll be able to get your order our super fast! The ambience is cheery and casual. It's THE perfect bar if you just want to watch soccer, have a great beer, AND taste a delicious meal!

Yelp
Stopped here for a drink and I am very impressed with the Hofbräuhaus decor! I got a half liter of the Hofbräu Sommer and chatted with the bartender! He was very kind and another gentleman at the bar joined in. It was a great atmosphere and we had a lot of fun! Definitely come here! If we had known they had food, we would come earlier for snacks!
google avatar

Yelp
Good selection of beer; good music; attentive bartender. I came when the doors opened at 11a, I was on vaca heading out of town needed to make my drinks count. Beer was good, HUGE servings, but I guess that's how the Germans do. I wasn't prepared for that, but I will be on my next visit. Cool venue, seems to have a lot of history here, gives you the authentic German culture. Sweet!!

Yelp
Great staff very helpful and welcoming. We stopped for brunch on our way back home. Delicious!

Yelp
This one's a fun spot! Setup like a German drinking hall with a bar up front and long tables and benches in the open room towards the back of the establishment. The name itself is pretty self explanatory. Looking for some of that Hofbräu beer? This place got you covered. Fresh off tap and your choice of 0.3 liters, 0.5 liters or a full liter pour. Looking for some traditional German fare? Brats from Usingers across the way to giant pretzels... This place got you covered. Looking to hammer some nails? Yep, this place got you covered. Not sure how traditional this nailing a nail into a tree stump game is. But if you're looking to play, only $0.50 a nail. Last person to nail their nail in flush buys the next round of beers. Simple rules, yet so fun haha. Worth a stop if you find yourself in the Old World Third Street stretch of bars. You won't be disappointed. 'Til next time, cheers! 148/365

Yelp
Let's break it down...German theme, great beer, reasonable prices, located in the heart of downtown, sports on tv, friendly staff, and drinking games that involve hammers and nails...WHAT ELSE COULD YOU WANT?!? I have lived in Milwaukee my entire life, but never spent much time in OGBH. I was showing visitors around, and figured they'd never been to a bar quite like this, so we went in for a drink and were not disappointed. The beers are Hofbrau, which are some of the finer German beers in my opinion. We were there while they had Oktoberfest on tap, and it was wonderful. It is much lighter in color than a standard Oktoberfest, but it is higher in abv and wonderful in taste. The original is their lighter beer, which my friends were enjoying, and the hefe they had on tap was great. We went into the back area and played the hammer/nail game. It is so Milwaukee I can't even believe it. You stand in a circle, drinking beer, and see who can hammer a nail into a chunk of wood the fastest. GENIUS! You can buy like 20 nails for $10 and get a free t shirt with that which has some saying about getting hammered at OGBH. AWESOME. The service was great, the atmosphere was friendly, and everyone in our group enjoyed themselves. If a quintessential Milwaukee experience that combines German heritage, authentic beer, and obscure games is your jam, check out Old German Beer Hall. Im sure you will love your experience.

Yelp
Very nice and pleasant place. I had the chicken schnitzel and a side of spätzle, which is like going into a steakhouse and ordering the hamburger and fries. Yeah, it was basic but tasty. I ordered the schnitzel over fries; mushroom gravy over schnitzel over salty fries=super salty and overwhelmed the schnitzel's taste. The restaurant in the back was compact; tables are European beer hall, get to know your neighbor style. Perfect low key restaurant for a good meal, but what's with the loud thumping EDM? Our group had trouble talking to each other. If you're a tourist in a German restaurant in Milwaukee eating German food, play it up with German songs! Fun times, though.

Yelp
My only stop when in Milwaukee. Great beer, great food, the bartenders are just friendly enough to be genuine but allow you to sit and enjoy your food and drink. When I'm in Milwaukee I don't even look anywhere else.

Yelp
Awesome lunch. Ok , I'm not from Milwaukee so I'm sure there are a lot of opinions on German food here. As for me , I ordered the wurst platter and loved it! The atmosphere is quaint , the service was friendly and the food delicious. All the beer choices look great too. I recommend giving this place a try !

Yelp
I like this place. It's long and narrow. Hofbrau house beer by the liter, or half liter of you prefer, Plus root beer in a couple of local beers. You have to do a menu and small kitchen but I didn't eat here. There's one table right inside the front window and then a few longer tables in the back with table service. Otherwise regular bar service. On Thursday night most of the liters are half price which is a really good deal. They had a band on that there's a night that I was there they played pretty good music. I came back with some friends the following night on Friday and we played Hammerschlagen and drink more liters of beer with polka playing in the background. Decent service, reasonably friendly bartenders. Clean bathrooms.

Yelp
OGBH is a Milwaukee staple. A classic German bar in a classic German city. The beers are huge, the food is delicious, and they have great games and music. I went the other night after a basketball game and the place was bumping! We played hammer schlagen and drank giant steins of beer. The staff is great and the polka music is quite fun and hilarious. On Friday's they tap a keg for everyone to drink & the last cup drinks free all night! I love this place. It's surrounded by a great grouping of bars. Would recommend to anyone going out downtown.
