Old Harbour Hotel, Fort Cochin, Kerala, India - Explore & Book

"In a country as hectic as India, laidback Cochin, wedged between swathes of jungle on the most south-westerly edge of India, is a rare oasis of tranquility. Once a thriving trading post, the sleepy old town of Fort Cochin is a colonial gem, its white-washed porticoed buildings reflecting eras of both Dutch and Portuguese rule.Having previously been the premises of an English tea-broking firm, Old Harbour Hotel is in a prime location within a few steps of the town's famous Chinese fishing nets, and a hop away from the Ernakulum ferry and the spice market. Owner and art-lover Edgar Pinto enlisted the help of Swiss/German architect Karl Damschen to deliver the heritage hotel concept with a fresh modern stroke, where spacious rooms and suites look out over the pretty internal courtyard or the tropical garden's lily pond. Highs Chic, serene and very well-maintained, with beautifully restored Dutch architecture, cream walls, lots of open space and interesting artIn the evening, the restaurant terrace is filled with the soothing sounds of traditional sitar players and the gentle croaks of frogs from the lily pondUpbeat and friendly staff; the approach is wonderfully informal, a simple teak desk serves as the main receptionAn immaculate raised infinity pool, with sun loungers dotted around the fragrant grounds - a safe haven for families Lows Pesky crows are always ready to swoop for morsels from your table so avoid sitting beneath the branches of the towering mango treeSome may find the beds a little hardFrom the airport, it’s about a 90-minute madly frenzied drive to the hotel (though once you arrive a very different world awaits)" - Hannah Roberts

Fabulous hotel run by the most friendly staff ! Great position right by the Chinese nets and close to shops and cafes. The room was beautiful we stayed in the tower room which faced on to the garden where you could see all the lovely flowers and birds from the balcony! The hotels kashi cafe was amazing and definitely worth visiting. All the staff v polite and helpful esp vinita on the front desk. It was my birthday and they made it special by giving me a bunch of flowers and a big piece of cake with a candle😊|It is expensive but definitely worth a treat

Very poor customer handling. Restaurant overpriced and occupied by uncontrollable drunk customer shouting and creating nuisance. Not appropriate for families and in company of women. Unsanitary restroom. Food is stale. Rude Stewards. Overall pathetic experience. Better places available in vicinity.

This is a review of the restaurant. They have 2 fans in total and about 20 tables. No AC. Just terrible planning. The food menu is very limited too. To top it all, there is a single unisex washroom, with toilet paper instead of a health faucet! Your entire hotel is based on vintage appeal but you decided to make your only toilet fully western? Prices of food is extremely high. I mean 450 bucks plus gst for a small plate of fries. Unbelievable. And guess what, they don’t serve any food onto your plates (if they even give you plates - we had to ask for plates twice once we got our food).

This restaurant has a beautiful antique ambiance and a great seafood menu. The staffs were super friendly. The interiors are well-maintained, creating a cozy atmosphere. While the food is good, the prices are a bit high, likely aimed at tourists. The location near the beach is lovely, and I was not able to take photos of the interiors and dishes. If you're looking for a scenic spot with good food and don't mind paying a little extra, it's worth a visit.

Let's start with the positives - absolutely charming staff who were incredibly helpful. Food was very good with an extensive menu catering to all tastes. Room was huge and charmingly decorated with old style furniture. Two main downsides - location is great for walking round Kochi but it's on a busy, noisy road with constant traffic passing and subject to howling stray dogs in the night. Secondly, the pool area is almost completely in the shade as the vegetation is totally overgrown and needs major pruning. If you're a sunbather, this is not the hotel for you - go to the Brunton Boatyard instead. If you sleep like a log and love the shade, the Old Harbour is well worth a look.

we left this hotel, it’s stylish rooms, warm welcome and truly delicious food. the lady in reception made us feel very welcome and was always warm and friendly – as well the rest of the staff too. The garden is very beautiful and has a large swimming pool to sit besideI don’t think this could have been better.

This hotel is situated in Fort Kochi, the old area of Kochi and is a haven of tranquility.|It also seems to be a popular backdrop for that all important selfie.|We had a large room with comfortable huge bed and all the usual amenities.|Staff were friendly.|We only ate breakfast there but was table service, all courses ordered separately. Well prepared food.||Hotel ideally placed for walking around in the area, catching water taxis around, looking at Chinese fishing nets and all the other historic buildings in area.

This was an excellent last two days of our India trip. The hotel is wonderfully located, beautifully restored with excellent facilities. What makes it special is the staff who are uniformly welcoming and helpful. They will do their absolute best to make your stay memorable.
