I had an excellent stay here! I spent a couple nights here with my dog to escape the fireworks in the states. The staff here was very helpful in giving me recommendations for places to go and eat where a solo traveler with their dog would be welcome. They even had a welcome bag for my dog and made it a point to learn his name. The bag included a towel and some treats as well as a sheet with pet friendly activities in the area. The room was very nice and quiet and spacious. I liked that there was a walk in shower vs. a shower/tub combo. It was a great place to relax after a long day of activities. Location was nice as well as there is a walkway along the river to easily take pets out to do their business. It also was convenient for easily getting around town. But really the staff was the highlight. I can't emphasize enough how welcomed from arrival to departure the staff made myself and my furry companion feel. Already dreaming about planning when we can make it up here next!

We had an incredible 5-night stay at the resort and were truly impressed by the exceptional service from the staff. On two occasions, we needed assistance from the maintenance team, and they went above and beyond to help us — friendly, prompt, and professional. The attention to detail throughout the property really stood out — from the beautiful flowers and hanging baskets to the thoughtful touches like cookies, coffee, and water stations. Our room was perfectly equipped and made for a very comfortable stay. The only downside was the pull-out bed, which wasn’t very comfortable, so we ended up switching to the couch for the final night. That said, everything else more than made up for it, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

The location is fantastic, and the property is stunning. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the room was so comfortable that it felt worth it. I loved the oversized bathtub, the blackout blinds worked perfectly, and there was real cream in the fridge for coffee, which was a nice touch. The coffee stations in the lobby were top-notch too. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.||||My friend stayed in a room on the top floor and had one issue, there’s no roof over the top floor balcony, so some of her belongings ended up getting bird droppings on them. Other than that, we had a great time!

Somehow this hotel is modern and charming, cozy and elegant all at the same time. I stayed here for a weekend at the end of May. The location is great, very central. The grounds are like a lush garden; very green with lots of flowers. The room was a beautiful, comfortable suite with lots of space and heated floors in the bathroom. They had complementary cookies, apples and coffee in the lobby. There were two robes in my room. The outdoor pool and hot tub are a nice touch, although quite small. My only complaints are pretty specific to me and may not affect the average person: - The people above me were quite loud and I could hear doors banging and things dropping on the floor. I asked to be moved to a top floor room which request was graciously accommodated by the front desk staff. Soundproofing was not great in this hotel. - I had to scan my card several times before being able to open the exterior door to get into the separate hotel buildings. There was no beep or click to indicate that the door was now unlocked. - the blackout curtains do not fully block out the sunlight in the morning (the light shines out the bottom of the curtains) - I arrived late, after midnight and there was no one at the front desk. I had to walk around for a few minutes calling for someone to check me in. Otherwise, I was very happy with my stay and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel. Very comfortable, clean and safe. The room and hallways are spotless. Staff was lovely - friendly and professional. There were fresh baked cookies in the lobby when we arrived! TV was easy to navigate and there was a kitchenette if someone was staying longer. We'll definitely stay here again.

Very nice! Ideal location for attending first aid course. Great staff, had to figure out our unpaid booking mess. Complimentary coffees, cookies and fruit in the lobby. Room was nice, everything you need. Super quiet! No road noise or even other guests, seriously quiet. Pet friendly, pet welcome gift! Monte loves his new towel! Nice pathway along the river for long walks. Didn't use any of the facilities but there is a pool, spa, gym and restaurant on site. Rexall across the street, other restaurants etc. very close. Cons: no windows that opened for fresh air. (There are rooms with patios, this was a pet friendly room- does have a/c) Nespresso machine, never did figure out how to get a full cup of coffee but what we did make was super rich and delicious!

We stayed here one night in the king suite before flying out early the next morning. The location is perfect with it along the river and access to a walking trail. We had a fabulous stroll along the river watching the otters have lunch! We then were able to walk to Locals, the restaurant on site for supper which was first class!|The room itself was very spacious and tastefully decorated with luxurious bathroom amenities. The tub was the largest we have ever had! Would definitely recommend this place! 5+stars!

Very nice stay at the Old House. All staff - from front desk to manager to housekeeping - were so friendly, helpful, and gracious! Appreciated the treats (two types of apples, 4 types of afternoon cookies, teas/coffees) in the lobby. The main building, Cedar, is what you see in most photos. Beside this is Locals Restaurant (and the proverbial old house), and beside that is the Maple building with its own lobby lounge area and the hotel fitness facility. All buildings are just steps away from the riverwalk, a nice paved walkway for a leisurely stroll or bike. The fitness room itself was smallish but with a good variety of equipment, though it was quite cold (which they apologized for!). Didn't get a chance to try the Ohspa, which is directly off the Cedar lobby, but it looked quite nice. Our room was spacious and very well-equipped, with a large bathroom (soaker tub), two double beds, a good size kitchenette with Nespresso, fireplace/chair, table/chairs, and balcony.

Yelp
Great hotel. You have a full kitchen and the beds and pillows are super comfortable. In the maple house building you have a balcony. Our room also had a washer and dryer and they give you laundry detergent and dryer sheets if you need to do laundry. They have free cookies in the lobby. Also loved the location walkable to restaurants and its right in front of a bike/run path on the river. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The Old House and Spa was a lovely stay for us for a little 2 day getaway. The rooms are spacious, clean and bright. The lobby has coffee provide each morning and water to refill your water bottles. Parking is free and staff were great, only encountered one that I felt I was bothering him asking questions. The cons were the construction going on behind the pools so it was loud and not the greatest sight, which isn't entirely their fault and the price, which ended up costing about $360 per night for a non suite room. Overall still happy with the stay.

Yelp
We had a lovely stay at Old House. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had a riverside studio suite on the 3rd floor with vaulted ceiling and it was lovely. We had a partial view of the river and looked out onto the pool and hot tub. The pool and hot tub were both open but they advise phoning the desk as they do limit the number of guests who are able the access the pool area at any one time. The fitness facility on the parking level also has a limit of 1 guest and you must get a key from the front desk to access the facility. The room was lovely. It was very spacious. We had a sofa that we could sit on while watching tv in front of the fireplace. The beds are comfortable and bathrobes are supplied. It was nice that you could pick up the newspaper in the front lobby and there was no charge to use the laundry facilities in the basement. The room also had a balcony. It was my husband's favorite accommodation during our staycation.

Yelp
I would give this place 4.5 stars. (I know that's not a thing). We booked a one bdrm suite - it's nice to spread out. Lots of space and we have in suite laundry (which is great) - we're in BC for 2 weeks so it's a nice plus. They have an outdoor pool (cute) - to mirror Vivian H - the fitness facility is hard to find. The pillows are really high, if that's a thing of interest. It's near a lot of things, and about a 40 to 45 minute drive to Campbell River. It's busy and there's a lot of construction in the area at the moment. We're out for most of the day so I can't speak to the noise, our room also faces the back I think. I would stay here again. The rooms are pretty clean. They are not doing daily service during covid times.

Yelp
I had a wonderful 8-night stay here! All of the staff were friendly and helpful, even as I checked in close to midnight. I was even offered freshly baked cookies (literally -- the concierge had to run to get the cookies out of the oven) during my midnight check-in. I chose this hotel mainly for its dog-friendly 1-bedroom suite. For an 8-night stay, I need a kitchen and a washer and dryer. Not all 1-bedroom suites have a washer and dryer, so be sure to request one. The suite was very clean and updated. Kitchen was fully stocked and there was a dishwasher as well. I got a massage at the spa and that was great. It was a very clean facility. As a guest at the hotel, you get 15% off services. The only thing I didn't like was the location of the fitness center. It was located in the super creepy basement. As a female traveling solo, I was extra alert going to and from the fitness center. As for the fitness center itself, it had some outdated cardio, but plenty of free weights and even a bench. It is... sufficient at best but better than nothing.

Yelp
We got the last room. First glance it was beautiful. However, the beds killed our backs, the toilet never stopped running and the patio was a cobbed web mess. For $375 a night I expected more

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for two nights during a recent visit to Courtenay. We were very disappointed with our dated room. I'm sure it was very nice 15 or 20 years ago but our room had not been kept up very well. The fireplace did not work, the bathroom was very dated and the bed was mediocre at best. Very poor quality for the price we paid, I will not stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed here for our 9 years Anniversary and just booked a regular room on the 2nd week of March. Very thoughtful staff. I mentioned that we are staying for our anniversary and we were updated to a penthouse suite!!! It's a beautiful loft with an ensuite jacuzzi. Very clean and the location is close to downtown. Thank you for making our visit extra special.

Yelp
Friendliest staff ever! Beautiful hotel. Rooms have everything you need. Love the salt water pool and the hot tub. Great environment. Such a nice vacation spot. Would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.

Yelp
This place was cool & clean & conveniently located, if you're in the Courtenay/Comox BC area. The pool & jacuzzi area is nice but if it's cold there is another indoor jacuzzi. The on-site restaurant was top notch & you may need reservations.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Old House Village Hotel & Spa. Vanessa, in particular, was terrific and she always had an answer to all my (crazy and abundance of) questions. She made me feel like a VERY special guest; she knew I was working with media for the whole weekend and made accommodations according to my ad-hoc schedule. The other staff were very kind and courteous as well! The hotel was very clean, beautiful, had a separate (large) bedroom, living room, TV with a patio and full-kitchen. This has been my favourite hotel stay! Thanks for having me and my team and supporting the entire media for BC Shellfish and Seafood Festival. Cheers.

Yelp
Absolutely 4 stars worthy. I have been in many chain hotels and spas over the past 6 months and this one is a pretty good one. I didn't have time to check out the hot tubs and infrared saunas but apparently they are available. My room was spacious and uber clean. The towels were plush and smelt really good. There was a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker and most importantly wine bottle opener in the room along with plates, cups etc. Definitely comfortable if I was staying for longer than 1 night which I wasn't. The bathroom was large and I yearned for the tub but alas...no time. I hear the spa is quite nice and the price list was reasonable. Definitely recommend it if you are staying in the area. Also, front desk worker Vanessa was professional, organized and uber cute.

Yelp
I needed somewhere comfortable to stay in Courtenay on a short notice and found the hotel on booking.com Upon arrival I was super exhausted and therefore really appreciated the very clean and comfortable, warm room. No surprises there, it fitted the description accurately. There was a little self contained kitchenette, fully stocked with kitchen tools, mugs, plates, bottle opener and etc... The closet had an iron+board, spare blanket and cosy bath gowns in it. I was particularly impressed with the bathroom, again it was very clean, with a generously sized soaker bath tub and separate shower. The pool and hot tub looked very nice and well taken care off. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to use it. Sleeping was alright, as good as it can get away from home. I am very sensitive to sounds so the humming of the refrigerator got on my nerves and I couldn't switch it off. I would haven given the Old Village Hotel a better review but what left me very unimpressed, in fact I am pissed off about that, is that I was not told that almost 350 bucks would be blocked on my credit card as some form of deposit. The next day I went to use my card and it was declined. Very embarrassing. 4 days later and I still can't use my card! I spoke to the bank and they told me that this wonderful hotel is still blocking my card. I know it's common procedure, i.g. same when you rent a car but at least they tell you so in advance and they take it off right away when you return the vehicle. There is no reason to still block it, since I didn't smoke in the room, left a mess, stole anything, destroyed hotel property or left any unpaid bills behind!!! Totally unacceptable. So much for customer service. The guy on the check in desk wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming either. Will I go there again? I think not.

Yelp
Loved our stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean and the kitchens had everything you need during a stay (I.e. Dish soap, scissors, etc.). The cookies, coffee, apples and tea in the lobby were a nice touch. And the full size washer and dryer was so nice to have while traveling!

Yelp
Beautiful room, overlooking the pool. Staff was friendly and accommodating and made a reservation for me at the neighbouring restaurant. They also shared info about the area, and were all around exceptional I had a beautiful room with a king bed, expansive bathroom with amenities, sofa large TV and arm chair. California girls

Yelp
Great base for adventures in the valley. The suites are extremely well organized and come complete with washer/dryer. Quiet and peaceful. A balcony to enjoy the garden and view. The cleaning staff were wonderful and continued to do a great job all five days.

Yelp
We had a great room. It was quiet, the bed was very comfy. Fire place, tub shower, couldn't have asked for more. I will return.

Yelp
Stayed here about three weeks ago. Amazing hotel. It pretty much looks like a chalet. It gives you an at home feeling, which I love. Very relaxing and the color are warm and earthy. We had a friendly welcome and the hotel is very clean. Staff was very nice and informative when we had questions. There were cookies, candies, coffee, tea and lemon water in the entrance way. There is access to an outdoor pool and hot tub. Check in did not take long. The room was clean and each bed had a bathrobe placed on it which I thought was a nice touch. There is a small kitchen area with plates and cups which I thought was amazing as we ordered food and did not need our own utensils and eating ware. The lighting is perfect in the room, as most hotels I've been too only have lamps. This has central lighting. I loved the bathroom. It was clean, had a standing shower and a tub. Classy pictures in the room related to nature and the environment Vancouver has to offer. Good number of restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting. Definitely makes you feel special and right now is on my top list of hotels.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights, last weekend, and I would definitely stay again! The front lobby had a coffee machine, tea, lemon water and apples, every day. When we arrived, there were cookies, but I only ever saw them that one time. Our one bedroom suite, in building one, was perfect. At first, we were disappointed that we were in building one, as it looked a little older and it was away from all of the "amenities" like the pool, the gym, and the spa. Also, there never seemed to be anyone around, so it felt abandoned! However, it turned out to be quite nice to be away from all the action, yet only be steps away from it. The pool and hot tub area, located in the main building (building two, I guess), were small, but quite adequate. The area around the pool was comfortable and equipped with chairs and towels. When we arrived, I was disappointed when I couldn't find any slippers. I hate walking barefoot or sock-foot and rely on hotels supplying slippers. I called the front desk, and they were delivered to our room within 10 minutes. In fact, they were delivered by the same guy who checked us in, a few minutes before! Thank you, Ryan! The night we arrived, we went to "Locals" restaurant, on the property. We sat on the patio and, although it was a bit chilly, there were clean blankets supplied to keep us warm. The food was absolutely wonderful and there were several complimentary samplers provided while we waited, as well as at the end. Fabulous. We went to the gym, in the main building, every day. It is comfortable, clean, and well stocked with clean sweat towels, cleaning spray, hand sanitizer, and a water cooler. The dumbbell selection is minimal (I saw nothing over 30 lbs), but there was a barbell (which I didn't use). The treadmill was quite sufficient and there was even the option of watching TV or a movie while on it. There was a global machine, that my partner used, and it seemed adequate for his needs. I cannot review the spa, since we never went. It looked nice from the outside, though. I hope I've thought of everything and have convinced you how great this place is! If so, enjoy your visit!

Yelp
The Old House is a great hotel. There are nice staff, an outdoor pool with a hot tub, and good wifi. The continental breakfast is a little small. Otherwise, this is a good place to stay at, preferably in the summer.

Courtney J.

Yelp
I am up in the Courtenay area about once a month and always make my stay at the Old House Village Hotel. From the moment you walk in the door they make you feel welcome and like they were expecting you. The rooms are spacious and homey with a fireplace and all the amenities you would need. Highly recommend this hotel! They go out of their way to provide superior service to their customers!

Robert D.

Yelp
Very happy with our stay here. Though only one night, we found the facility very clean, staff professional, grounds varied and restful all while offering an understated elegance.

Yelp
We just spent the night before Valentine's Day at this lovely riverside hotel. We had an amazing meal next door at Locals which was the highlight of the night. The staff at Old House were very professional and helpful, hats off to Melinda and Eric, he coming to our rescue and properly hooking up the DVD Player and Melinda for her photography skills! The one low light and it ruined the stay was the worst pillows we have ever encountered I ended up using a rolled up towel and the mattress of below average quality. If a good nights sleep is important to you avoid this place for sure until they upgrade the beds and get pillows that aren't 2 feet high.

Yelp
An excellent place to stay. I'd recommend waking up early and going for a walk down by the river while the dew is still wet and the air is a bit misty. Then follow that up with the eggs benedict in the restaurant -- try to get a table with a view of the garden and gazebo. Remarkably refreshing.

Yelp
Really, really nice hotel. Stayed in one of the suites for a month or two, love the modern style and outdoor hottub n pool! Nice walking trail right beside the hotel on the river as well.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel as we were in town for the BC Shellfish Grower's Association 9th Annual Chef's Gala Dinner. We reserved a suite for approximately $200 American. The room was akin to a nice-sized 1 bedroom apartment here in Brooklyn, NY, complete with a full kitchen, full-sized fridge, and a dishwasher. The room was clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
