The ambience is top notch (partly due to the clientele), it makes you feel like you traveled back in time. I especially loved my matcha cocktail and my wife also enjoyed hers (the one inspired or created by the original architect). The Old Imperial Bar is like stepping into a swanky time capsule. Tucked in Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel, with the Frank Lloyd Wright vibe. The bartenders are absolute pros, and my Lugend and Mount Fuji cocktails were out of this world—smooth, perfectly balanced, and just wow (I love egg white). Our server made it extra special by bringing over old books about Frank Lloyd Wright’s history with the hotel, which was such a cool touch. The attention to detail, from the top-notch service to the bar’s stunning design, blew us all away. We only had a couple rounds, but easily spent 3 hours on a chill Sunday evening there. It’s a bit pricey, but so worth it for cocktail fans or history buffs. Can’t wait to go back!

An elegant step back in time. The Imperial Bar feels wonderfully old-fashioned in the best possible way - polished wood, classic details, and that quiet, refined atmosphere you rarely find anymore. It’s the kind of place where you naturally lower your voice and slow down. The cocktails are beautifully made and very well balanced, clearly handled by people who know their craft. Portions are on the smaller side though. A truly classy spot for a calm, refined evening. Perfect if you appreciate tradition, elegance, and a proper cocktail done right.

Great cocktails, perfect service and very nice decoration. They carry the legacy of Imperial Hotel and Bar. Their signature cocktail Mount Fuji is an original recipe from 1924 and a must try cocktail

I don't know how to explain what an old world joy this place has. My mother is an interior designer with a great love for Frank Lloyd Wright. As part of her lifelong pilgrimage to see all his works, this bar holds that small piece of his beautiful design for the Tokyo Imperial Hotel. You can still see the vestiges of its murals, facade, and aesthetic in the bar preserved after the demolition in 1968. If you say you are there for the design, the womderful managers might bring out a book for you to look at. Also the drinks are made with such expertise and although pricey, well worth it.

Cocktail lovers will appreciate this spot. My husband and I are big FLLW fans so we sought out the Old Imperial Bar, since it has the only remnant of the original Frank Lloyd Wright design from the hotel. Filled with Wright inspired elements and a gorgeous wooden bar that spotlighted each drink. They have a large bar selection featured in unique glassware, with the Wright inspired plate ware and glasses! It was a nice touch. I ordered the signature cocktail, Mt Fiji, which was perfection. Best cocktail I had in Tokyo! And then our skilled (and welcoming) bartender proudly showed me there famous Mt. Fiji whiskey and generously served up a highball.

The old Imperial bar is located on the second floor of The imperial hotel. One is transported back in time with the low lighting and interior of wood, brickwork and red carpets reminiscent of anything from the 1960-1980-es. Had the Mount Fuji which was good. Komachi which was sake based with lychee liquor Imperial 70 was like a sour and looked amazing and tasted quite tart. Service was good, friendly and quick. Loved the focus light in at the bar. Snacks provided with drinks including chocolate squares.
