It's been some years since our visit but this was easily the best meal, service and evening of our holiday to Cornwall. We visited during the pandemic, during the governments help out to eat out scheme in August 2020. As you can imagine, the restaurant was full, both inside and out. The owner was an absolute delight, she spent time speaking with us and gave our little dog Crumpet extra attention and a little meal! The meal itself was incredible... we selected from the specials menu and we can't praise the meal enough! It was sooo good Go to this restaurant! It looks beautiful and they make beautiful food!

I booked the Old Lifeboat for a cosy rainy Monday evening for October 5th. Firstly safety over Covid is some of the best weve seen. Was greeted at the door by a super lovely member of staff who asked us to Check in with NHS scanner, hand sanitizer provided and masks to be worn on entering and walking inside. Taken to our table and offered drinks. This was our first time at the restaurant and we were impressed. It was warm and welcoming, buzzing with a lovely atmosphere of other customers enjoying their meals. We looked through the mouth watering menu and I couldnt resist the fish pie, my partner had the Fish platter. The only negative that I wish to raise is that we did wait nearly an hour for our meals.. it did put a bit of a damper to what could of been a perfect evening. Moving on though, the waitress was super friendly, and the food was really really tasty! Came out hot and clearly very fresh. You could clearly taste the freshness of the fish. Prices were also good. All in all we did enjoy our evening and would return. Book in advance as the restaurant is quite small...but cute! Highly recommend The old Lifeboat in Penzance and give it a strong 5 Star Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keisha & craig

We needed a dog friendly seafood restaurant and the Old Lifeboat House Bistro fitted the bill perfectly. Greeted by very friendly staff, fed top notch, freshly cooked to order local seafood and two very refreshing mocktails. Can recommend the seafood nachos and seafood platter. The building is beautiful too and you can see into the kitchen and watch the chefs - all looked very clean and hygienic. We will definitely return when next in the area.

Superb food in a local restaurant. The staff is friendly. Beautiful view over the harbour from the restaurant. Seafood is very fresh and delicious. Highly recommended! Must try!

Nice décor and building, but the service was pretty poor. Wouldn't serve us food with our drinks (or even any sort of snack bar snack) because they were too busy – despite the range of obviously empty tables. View would probably have been nice at high tide, but as it was we were mostly looking at traffic and mud. Hard to mark them down for the tide – yet at the same time I can’t really ignore it…

Yelp
Don't bother. Advertised open to 2.30, turned us away at 1.30 because they're closing!!!!!!!

Yelp
A lovely restaurant ideally located near the harbour. The old lifeboat house is tastefully decorated in a maritime style and provides an attraction in its own right. The food is magnificent and can only be called top class. I have tried meat and fish dishes and both were equally superb. The service is attentive and genuinely friendly. This restaurant is spotless and I can warmly recommend it. I will be back soon.

Yelp
Very nice. Went there as a group of 6 for a 50th birthday celebration. Nice greeting and attentive staff throughout the evening. Menu is not extensive but that is probably a good thing as what they do they seem to do well. We sampled a number of the offerings and things we had not chosen that went to surrounding tables looked great. Oh and this is a pretty small and intimate restaurant. Crab three ways very nice (they serve an onion / chili relish with the cheese board, you really need to ask for some of that with the crab cake)... all fish mains lovely,, great chips.. My brother and I would have preferred the option of peas (or mushy peas) with the beer battered fish but not a show stopper. Deserts were lovely (pecan pie and tarte au citron)... cheeseboard was enough for two although quite mild cheeses so if you like strong / mature stuff then maybe not for you. Overall a very nice dinner and attentive and friendly service with three courses and couple of bottles of wine (plus some extra glasses) for under £30. Most mains are £10 to £15 and the evening special beer battered fish (gurnard, it does vary) was £10 or £11. Would we go back? Yes absolutely! Oh space is VERY limited so make a reservation.
