The Old Man and the Sea restaurant

I have never before written a review, but I feel compelled to this time. We were looking for a place to celebrate our 1st anniversary, and we found it here. Mostly it was the exceptionally kind service, as well as the beautiful grounds, idyllic setting, and amazing food all done with the highest attention to detail which made me decide to write my first review. We arrived just before noon and they opened the bar a little early for us. After two delightful cocktails each, we could'nt say no to lunch. We already had a lovely table on the water, but we got moved to an over-water table for a fantastic lunch experience! The food was lovely and the scenery was picture-perfect. After lunch and yes, more cocktails, we were invited to lie down on the shaded beach beds. We felt completely unrushed and were pampered with comfort and kindness. If I had the means to create my own resort, this would be it. Thank you Yvonne, Jean-Marie, and Cookie! 12/10, would highly recommend!

The location is beautiful and very quiet. Went for my honeymoon and it was a perfect romantic spot. Nice breakfast delivered to your villa in the morning and the in house restaurant was delicious. If you are looking for a peaceful spot right on the water this is the place you are looking for.

Let me tell you, this is EASILY the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been to. The property is absolutely perfect. We had a wonderful romantic dinner on the water. Food, drinks & service were all great. We were impressed to learn they have villas onsite that you can rent so we walked around after dinner to checkout the property. It is a DREAM and they're doing some incredible additions (new bar, coffee bar, etc). Would love to stay here sometime. The gentleman that greeted us in the parking lot was a sweetheart and took some beautiful photos of us upon arrival. 10/10 recommend. My bf and I both agree, this was one of the highlights of our trip. Worth the splurge for a nice date night.

My husband and I stayed at the Penthouse Sophia overwater bungalow for 4 days for our 15th wedding anniversary. We had done a ton of research and definitely knew what we were signing up for! It was absolute perfection! We had breakfast delivered two mornings and that was delicious and so peaceful. One morning we had an early tour booked and they had a to-go breakfast all packed up for us to grab on our way out the door. Everyone was incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly, but also completely stayed out of our hair unless we asked for anything which we really appreciated. The AC in the two bedrooms worked great! We were honestly glad the rest of the bungalow wasn't air-conditioned since water in Aruba doesn't get crazy hot like it does in the US, made enjoying the two tubs very comfortable. Again, we knew what we were signing up for and so none of this was a frustration! If you are going to freakout finding a crab in the living room, having small pieces of the thatch roof occasionally drift onto the bed in high winds, or insist on hot tub temp water, then this is not the place for you. If you want to completely escape to isolated peace, unobstructed ocean views, and a very private oasis then look no further. We could not recommend this place enough for those couples that are a good fit! I loaded my Kindle up and we brought a few board games and rarely left! We loved having ocean access right from our bungalow, Sophia even has a waterfall feature into the ocean so that really set such a tranquil mood being out on the decks. It was nice having two bedroom areas to utilize too. Got an incredible massage, dined on the old pier at The Old Man and the Sea restaurant on site, went snorkeling right from our bungalow. We literally would not have changed a single thing except for maybe the parking lot (was a little muddy when we first arrived, but dried up quickly). This side of the island is quieter, close to Baby Beach which was so much fun, but about 20 minutes from the city which was fine by us! Thanks for a magical experience AOV!

We had reservations for 4 and we were seated on the water and able to watch the sunset. Our waiter, Wendell, was very attentive and even sang us a song while playing his guitar. I had the famous shrimp and penne pasta with vodka sauce. The apps were also delicious and my husband and daughter really liked the clams in the sambuca sauce. The atmosphere and beauty was amazing! It was a highlight of our trip to Aruba!

My husband and I have been twice. The most gorgeous place! Beautiful grounds. Love the walk through to the water. It feels like you’re in the rain forest. Stunning. Absolutely amazing service by ALL of the staff! That also includes the cats on the grounds, lol. The food! OFF THE CHARTS! I love the menu. This restaurant/resort reviews should be at a 5.0 and not 4.4. A must try in my book

Not sure what the negative reviews are. The atmosphere was peaceful, romantic, quiet, perfect. Our waiter was attentive without being annoying. Courses came out well timed, and the food was delicious. Price was to be expected in a restaurant of the sort, not overly expensive or too cheap. Would highly recommend

This was our second visit to this restaurant. First time was in 2022. Both my husband and I were extremely pleased with our meal! We both had the catch of the day which was red snapper. Served with vegetables and risotto. It was delicious! Our. Apps were Bang Bang Shrimp and ceviche! Delicious! Our server, Gabriella, was so sweet and just so helpful. She even snapped a few pictures of us for us! The atmosphere is a 20 out of 10!! I love this tropical secret paradise. It’s worth the trip!
