A beautiful and lively square in the heart of Cologne’s Old Town. Full of charm, colorful historic buildings, and plenty of cafes and restaurants where you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. Great place for a stroll, people-watching, or grabbing a Kölsch beer. It can get crowded, especially in the afternoons and weekends, but that’s part of its charm. Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring the city!

I loved the Old Market! It was lovely to see couples celebrating their marriage after leaving City Hall! I also enjoyed watching the church tower where a man( statue of his face) sticks out his tongue every 15 minutes!

I love the old market — it somehow gives me Italian vibes! On weekends, it’s bustling with people, and you can try different Kölsch beers at various spots, each with its own unique taste.

Quite nice! I came here on a stopover and thought I'd do a spot of sketching. Spent a nice bit of time in a cafe, listened to a talented busker, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Walking through Cologne’s Old Market (Alter Markt) feels like stepping into history with a modern twist. The City Hall caught my eye instantly its architecture is seriously impressive to be honest. I snapped some amazing pics, you should totally check them out. The area is packed with pubs, lively crowds, and street performers, making it the perfect spot to just hang out. Plus, this place is the heart of festivals and celebrations, so there’s always something happening. If you’re in town, grab a Kölsch beer and soak in the atmosphere (:

The Jan von Werth Fountain at the Alter Markt in Cologne is an attraction worth seeing and steeped in history. It is reminiscent of the tragic love story of the cavalry general Jan von Werth and his childhood sweetheart Griet legend that is closely linked to Cologne's history. The fountain itself is beautifully designed, with impressive figures and a detailed representation. The statue of Jan von Werth on his horse is particularly eye-catching. There is often a lively atmosphere around the fountain, as many people meet here and enjoy the central location in Cologne's old town Anyone who visits Cologne and is interested in its history should definitely take a look at this fountain. It is not only a cultural highlight, but also a popular meeting place and photo spot!

Not too far from the Cathedral Market, this market is busy with a lot of vendors that sell food, Glühwein, and fun items to bring home for Christmas. There was a brass band playing Christmas Carols on the center of the market which gave it a warm and cozy feeling. There are bathrooms (€1) at the end of the market where the Ferris wheel is.

Great for international visitors to view local fare. A vast array of mushrooms, cheese, deli meats, oils, truffles etc.
