I really recommend buying tickets from the official website in advance. The price is the same as on-site, but pre-booking guarantees a smoother trip especially on weekends or holidays when tickets might sell out. Don’t cut the timing too close either; it’s best to arrive about 30 minutes early since you’ll need time to scan the QR code and collect your boarding ticket.
The ride itself is relaxing and fun. Even at the suspension bridge section, the rail-bike shakes a little but it never feels scary, it just glides along safely. Besides the ride, you can also stroll around the old street, taste some delicious Hakka food, pick up souvenirs, snap photos, and just take in the nostalgic vibe. It’s such a lovely, slow paced experience!
