My booking was hacked twice.
The first incident occurred on 21. July 2025, when scammers contacted me through the Booking.com chat, asking me to re-enter my credit card details. I informed the hotel about this via email, but only received a generic response about a week later through the Booking.com chat (instead of by email), confirming that they had been hacked.
A more serious incident happened on 6. October 2025. Although the hotel had warned me via the Booking.com chat in late September that they had been hacked again, the scammers contacted me directly on WhatsApp this time. When I tried to inform the hotel through the Booking.com chat, the scammers themselves replied on the Booking.com chat 😄 once again requesting my credit card details.
At that point, I decided to cancel my booking.
Overall, I find that the hotel’s response in terms of data protection and security was inadequate
