The 6 Best Hostels in Hanoi (Updated 2025)

"Located in the heart of the Old Quarter, this place feels more upscale and hotel-like while still being social — its colorful, chic design and floor-to-ceiling windows (some rooms with small balconies) give lots of natural light. Dorm beds are comfortable with thick mattresses, privacy curtains, lockers, reading lights, and top bunks with stairs instead of ladders, and the hostel has AC. They encourage guests to hang out at the daily free happy hour (with free beer), join free walking tours, or take a very cheap weekly cooking class, and the breakfast is great and affordable (about 50,000 VND). Overall it’s a clean, spacious option within walking distance of the main sights." - Matthew Kepnes

Highly recommended hostel in Hanoi! I stayed here for three days and was honestly impressed by the quality of the place. Everything is very clean, the rooms are comfortable, and the beds offer plenty of privacy. The atmosphere is perfect for meeting other travelers, and the location is ideal for exploring the city. What really makes this hostel stand out is the staff : they are incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help. I joined their free guided city tour and also booked my Ha Giang Loop through them; both were perfectly organized. A few weeks after my stay, I returned to Hanoi just for an afternoon to catch a bus, and they kindly agreed to store my backpack until my departure. That level of hospitality honestly makes a huge difference. I can’t recommend this hostel enough if you’re staying in Hanoi!

the hostel is quite nice, clean rooms, clean showers. common area is maybe not immediately conducive to socializing but there are good events (free beer!) that make it easy to get chatting. BILLY though was the absolute highlight of the stay here, top notch tour guide for our free walking tour - funny, knowledgeable, and so so friendly! massive thank you to him, made it super easy to get a feel for the city as soon as i arrived. he really carries the weight of most of these five stars! cảm ơn :))

Had a great stay. Facilities were indeed as clean as I read in other reviews. The rooms and beds were well designed, however if your charger is heavy, it could fall out of the outlet by the bed. I had to put some clothes beneath the plug to prevent it from falling out. I would suggest you bring a small extension cable if you have this kind of heavy charger brick. The curtains did provide good privacy around the bed, however my particular bed had a gap in the curtains so my bed was less private than others. Location was excellent in the heart of Old Quarter and despite being close to the party streets, it was quiet in the hostel at night. The laundry service was clutch and very simple with 24 hour standard service and expedited 10 hour service. The staff were wonderful and Le Phuc was extremely helpful with helping me book my 1 day trip to Ha Long Bay well as explaining the other trip options. I recommend the Ha Long Bay trip (see my Instagram @nomaditsu vlog for details). Shelly and Nancy provided great local recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

Comfortable beds with shelves, outlets, and very clean. I love the location of the hostel, it’s in the Old Quarter but tucked away and quiet / calm outside. The staff are so helpful, and this hostel is very well run and highly resourced. There is a free walking tour every morning which is a great way to see the Old Quarter and meet people. They took us to the train stop too which was a check off the tourist bucket list! They have free beer social hour every evening and a breakfast available for 50k and laundry. Truly a fantastic place to stay in Hanoi as a solo backpacker

Old Quarter View Hostel is a fantastic place to stay in Hanoi. The entire staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cares about guests, which creates a very welcoming atmosphere. The hostel is super clean and well maintained, and the breakfast is tasty and filling. The social experience really shines thanks to Shelly, who runs fun, thoughtful events that make it easy to connect. Great setup for digital nomads working late nights.

So nice I stayed here twice! You cannot beat the location, in my opinion. There is an atm, convenience stores, laundry, nail salon, places to eat and shop just right outside the hostel. I stayed in a four person dorm and loved it. AC worked great, there was lots of privacy with curtains around the bed, just not a ton of room to store bags so I kept mine on my bed. Our room had an en suite bathroom with a shower that only produced cold water. I didn’t mind as the communal bathrooms had hot water and were always being cleaned. I never had to wait to shower. The staff is very friendly and supportive. They organize trivia nights and a happy hour that serves free beer. I noticed they really encouraged people to participate and get to know each other. This is the friendliest hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The people I met were so genuine. I’d be back in a heartbeat.

The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere is ideal for exploring Hanoi. (perfect for solo travelers) Huge thanks to Lee and Nancy for helping me plan my trips! they were so friendly, patient, and truly committed to making my stay great. Lee even called a tour company on my behalf to resolve an issue, which saved me so much stress. Everyone at the hostel, from reception to cleaning staff, was so welcoming and hardworking:)

Undoubtedly one of the best hostels I have ever been to. It's super clean, very spacious and throughly maintained. Staff here are very friendly, polite and helpful. Shelly, the super star host at OQV is the life of the hostel. Her trivia, game night was an absolute ice breaker and a delight to participate in. She even took us to pub crawling to some of the best pubs spending the nights dancing and singing. Thank you for the beautiful memories..!! Can't forget Billy, who took us on a free street walk showing us around the Hanoi city, showing us places and explaining the history and culture. He's a funny guide, entertained us fully through the tour. Also, thanks to Phuc, he greets you with the warmest smile at the reception and he answers every silly question you ask with the same joy and enthusiasm. I had the best time in this Hostel..!! You guys were just amazing..!! Thank you for the memories..!!
