We stayed for one night in a feature room with terrace and log burner. The room itself was small and compact, pricey for the size we thought. Terrace area was great but needed a good clean, cobwebs everywhere. Enough logs supplied but not enough kindling luckily we managed to get a fire going, it was very cosy as it was luckily a nice evening. || We had arrived at 1pm and as we couldn’t check in until 3pm went over to the pub for lunch. We had a nice meal, the pie and Cajun buttermilk chicken were very tasty and the service was good, but they did forget our water for the table. We then checked in to our room and we took a walk as the grounds and location are lovely. However the hotel bar was not open until 5.30pm so we sat in a lovely seating area by the water but couldn’t get a drink, so we had to go back to the pub. I honestly don’t think we’ve stayed at any hotel previously where the bar isn’t open to residents to get a drink. The same applies to the restaurant based at the hotel, it does not serve lunch which however luckily we were aware of before we got there. One of the main reasons we would think twice before returning would have to be the no WiFi issue, there was a notice on reception about this when we checked in, but I see from other reviews this seems to be an ongoing issue, not acceptable at these prices and certainly something they should make people aware of before booking, it’s just as well we weren’t there for business as it would have been even worse. ||All in all a nice stay but for the price it should be an amazing stay. ||We also ordered room service and asked for some ice which was forgotten and not delivered so we had to ring again for that to be brought to the room. Just a few things that could be better.

We stayed in a room in The Barn which is located in The Mill hotel. |The location and building are lovely.|The room was nice & clean - albeit a few cobwebs which I would suggest dusting away as it appears from other reviews this is an issue. |Staff were very welcoming & friendly, including in the spa.|We used the spa facilities and had a spa treatment which was so lovely and relaxing. |Dinner at the Mill was very nice and we received great service, we headed over to the swan for post dinner drinks & also had breakfast there which again was nice. |I am surprised to see all the negative reviews and wonder if we were lucky with our room and the service we received as it was a midweek stay and it was quiet or if the hotel has reviewed the concerns and implemented changes . Overall very happy with our stay and would return in the future!

Sunday roast at The Old Swan 🍽️ Went with friends for a birthday treat and loved it! Everyone enjoyed their lunch and a few squeezed in dessert too 🍰 I’ve got my eye on the afternoon tea next time… Finished with a lovely walk to Minster Lovell - perfect Sunday.🌿😊

We had a gorgeous stay at Old Swan Pub this weekend with a group of adults and our little toddlers! Felt so at home the moment we arrived. The kids loved the grounds, walking around picking apples, playing in the garden on the wooden adventure playground. The games room with shuffleboard and darts were so popular with all the group! Food was super scummy and the staff really looked after us!

The Old Swan and Minster mill is a beautiful looking hotel and pub in a lovely village that was in a great location for us to do what we needed to . Sadly though our room ( gor 2 nights) was not up to our expectations . I’m not a fussy person but for the price the room had cob webs the carpet was tired and stained with a rug under the bed that we kept tripping up on ! The bathroom was clean and a good shower but the paint was peeling off the walls and felt like it needed some tlc. As a paying guest you can only use the pool if you book a treatment , only a small pool , we didn’t think we’d have time for treatments so didn’t book but did fancy a swim to be told it would be £25 ! Breakfast was ok but the coffee was cold and we were not asked what type we would like , asked for some hot coffee but the waitress didn’t take our old cold half coffees away so when the warmer coffee came we had to pinch cups off another table . Had a nice meal in the evening though and on checking out we voiced our concerns and the receptionist immediately gave us 20% off with no quibble . I suspect other complaints had been aired . Such a shame as could’ve been a fab place but wouldn’t stay again

On arrival we were stunned by the location! Upon checking in, we were told that the WiFi was down and had been for 2 days. I then asked if this was likely to be fixed and the staff member didn’t fill me with any confidence (it was never fixed which caused quite a lot of inconvenience considering we didn’t have any phone service either). When being shown to our room at the old swan we noticed a damp smell in the corridor, however our room smelt fine. The room itself was nice and cosy, but did feel dirty and definitely hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly for a while. The shower was not fit for purpose. The shower head reached the ceiling meaning you couldn’t tilt it back therefore it was impossible to stand under the water. Me and my partner ended up holding the shower head for each other every time we needed a shower, not ideal! On the first night the food was superb and we were made to feel welcome by the young girl serving us and any dietary requirements were met no problem at all. Unfortunately, the next few days we were served by different staff members and we didn’t feel as welcome or listened to with dietary requirements. Overall the room, food and service we experienced didn’t live up to the feeling we first experienced when arriving at this stunning location!

Disappointing Stay – Health and Safety Concerns We were initially impressed by the beautiful grounds of the property, but unfortunately, our overall experience fell far short of expectations. The room we stayed in was extremely warm and had no air conditioning. We were advised to leave the window open for ventilation, but being on the ground floor, I didn’t feel safe doing so—anyone could have easily climbed in. I requested to move to another room but was told there was no availability, without any apparent effort to check the system. Our experience with the dining was even more concerning. At breakfast at the Old Swan, we were served cold and undercooked eggs. After asking for fresh ones, we received another plate—only for the eggs to still be cold. My partner, who was very hungry and tired of waiting, ate what was served. This ended up being the only meal he had that day. Tragically, later that day, he developed a fever and severe stomach cramps. It is now Monday 8 DAYS LATER and he still cannot eat or keep down any fluids. He has been unable to work, a trip to A&E, IV fluids due to food poisoning from the breakfast. I have already contacted the hotel directly to raise this issue and urge them to investigate the food immediately—I would not wish this experience on anyone else. I would greatly appreciate it if someone from management followed up with me regarding this serious matter.

Yelp
Quaint hotel and great staff made my business stay enjoyable. If you want an "English countryside" experience, you will get it in this 15th century hotel. The basic rooms are small, but comfortable enough that I slept well each night. The convenience of the onsite restaurant was nice, and the food was decent. I stopped in the spa for a manicure which I do not recommend. The girl that did my manicure was very nice, but had a hard time getting my gel off so I ended up scraping it off my nails myself, and then the polish she used came out bubbly. Not worth the £50. The hotel also has a gym and free bicycles you can use. About 1/4 mile down the street are 14th century ruins that are worth a visit, just follow the signs to the church.

Yelp
Lovely country inn and an authentic English inn experience. A bit out of the way in Oxfordshire but isn't that the point? The inn is staffed by a seemingly small but professional staff who check you in, draw you a pint, and show you to your room. The rooms are a bit small (it dates to the 15th Century) but comfortable and well appointed. The inn serves 3 meals a day and the menu is rather upscale. I only had lunch which was delicious and commensurately priced. The inn isn't really within walking distance from much to do so have a plan to get out an about via car. Overall, not a 5 star experience by far but very nice and recommended.

Yelp
This hotel is slightly oddball, but set in a lovely village in Oxfordshire. The River Windrush flows next to the Mill, and the gardens and grounds are great for quick walks. There is also a Gym. The Mill is the hotel, while The Swan is the pub/resturant - all run by the De Vere group. This is a nice setup, though I guess it could be quite annoying in wet weather. The rooms vary, but some can be extremely small and cramped. The restaurant is also very overpriced, and I advise you look elsewhere for your tea! That said, and despite it not being the best hotel in the world, the setting and location make up for that, and we were happy with our stay here. Very good for visiting Oxford.

Yelp
Beautifully situated hotel and old inn. Be aware there are two properties and more rooms than one might think looking at the web site presentation. Plus the inn seems to get plenty of local patrons wanting pub lunches and family dining seats. Bar was cosy with a goodly amount of draft beer taps and the menus for the various sittings of meals were thoughtful and expected of what is obviously a serious destination. I avoided paying 25 pounds for a swim in the spa center which can be avoided if you have a treatment in the spa. Lovely walk along the river aside the property and you can fly fish for half a day on said river (for 60 pounds) Reception made an error processing my final bill which probably wouldn't have been caught without my input. Rooms in the inn seem to have more hidden away rooms . Mercia room was at the top of a vertical spiral suitcase in the inn.! Help was needed to move suitcases. But the Mercia room had an outside patio albeit it close to the coolers by the kitchens. Parking easy and plentiful out back.
