Hidden in the heart of Desa Tomok Parsaoran, the Old Tomb of King Sidabutar is more than just a stone monument—it’s a slice of Batak legend. Carved from a single massive rock, this is the final resting place of King Sidabutar, a revered Batak leader known for his wisdom, leadership, and famously long hair (yes, that’s part of the legend too). Guarded by stone statues and surrounded by symbols of Batak culture, the site oozes history and calm. Walk slowly, listen to the whispers of the past, and maybe catch a story or two from a local guide. And here’s the fun twist—it’s pretty much fated that you’ll meet someone named Sidabutar still living in the area. Turns out, the family name lives on (and they’re usually pretty friendly). No hats are allowed near the tomb as a sign of respect, so be ready to uncover your head and your curiosity. Note: • Easy walk from Pasar Tomok—combine it with a cultural shopping stroll. • Bring small change if a local offers a quick tour or story • Don’t rush it—this spot is about presence, not just pictures. • Say hi to a Sidabutar—they might share a bit of family pride!

The Old Tomb of King Sidabutar isn’t just a final resting place, it’s a stone-carved warning label from the Batak ancestors. Nestled in the heart of Tomok, this sacred site features intricately carved tombs, solemn statues, and, most memorably, that stone.. the one where wrongdoers allegedly got their heads politely removed. Justice was swift, silent, and apparently very scenic. King Sidabutar’s tomb itself exudes quiet authority, surrounded by watchful stone guardians and an air of “I’m still in charge, even from here.” It’s peaceful, yes, but don’t mistake peaceful for soft. Every corner whispers of tradition, honor, and a little bit of “don’t mess with the tribe.” Bonus: if you’re offered a ulos, wear it, it shows respect and possibly keeps your name off any metaphorical stone chopping lists.

Despite of the 3rd King of Sidabutar's wife is Damanik of Sipolha (just like my ancestors -Damanik of Sipolha) the ppl there impolite 🙄 (only the merchants are friendly and nice because they keep promoting their products 😂). This is my very first time knowing that their 3rd King's wife is Damanik and that's the reason why I visited there BUT the guide (a man around 40-50s who also seems money oriented so prepare your money around ±50k IDR) only told us the story regarding 3rd King of Sidabutar not the Elders before the 3rd King (he said the location is too far) and that place got no maintenance at all, sorry to say it's like a creepy abandon graveyard rn😭 do something hey Batak clans and starting from your behavior towards the tourists😭 and don't go to the Sigale-Gale once it's started because the guide will force you to pay 10k IDReven it's just lil amount it's still impolite😠

We went by scooter from Tuktuk - not well signposted so had to ask directions, showing a photo. We expected a much larger statue from the tourist brochures. Worth stopping in if you in the area but little to see in the tomb area. There is the Batak museum nearby and several souvenir shops in the alleys around. We were early morning 9am so were the only visitors.

Near Tuktuk, this is the tomb of several Batak royal noblemen. Can you spot the king's prime minister under his face? My guide told me that the prime ministers tended to be from Aceh in order to keep the peace. You will be given an ulos when you enter to show your respect. This was a quick visit.

Its an old tomb of a King with his bodyguard and Anteng Melila, the women he loves... it's a historic place, we can learn some historical tradition from the local guide, and also we can watch the performance of Si Gale Gale. And there's a lot of souvenir shop around it...

Went at 8am Saturday and the place was empty. Unsure if this place requires a ticket to enter, but I saw no one there. I spent 15 minutes and left. They have a toilet nearby that you can use. And I think it is free. If not, then 2,000 rupiah should be enough as a toilet fee.
