11 Best Affordable Airbnbs in Berlin | Condé Nast Traveler

"Found in an old building with soul in a historic-feeling neighborhood, this studio feels like an ideal home away from home in Prenzlauer Berg. It’s tastefully furnished, with plants in every corner, clean lines, and a typical laid-back Berlin feel, and the street is quiet despite the very central location. Alexanderplatz is just 10 minutes away and Museum Island 20 minutes, yet the area still feels surprisingly small-town-ish. Days can start with a cappuccino at Bonanza Coffee, continue with a stroll through Kollwitzpark, an aperitivo at Pluto, and dinner at Otto, or you can stay in and dine by candlelight at the kitchen table. Hosts Lina and Oliver are flawlessly attentive, flexible with late-night check-ins, and their thoughtful gestures make it feel like staying with old and dear friends. The apartment is especially well suited to couples or solo travelers who don’t want to wake up in a generic, anonymous hotel room." - Lena Elster

Excellent hostel in a good neighboorhood with plenty of places to get breakfast, eat and drink. We had a small 3 bed appt but it was all we needed. It was quiet, clean and the facilities were just down the hall. Might come again when revisiting Berlin.

The Old Town Hostel is all in all a great place to stay. Friendly staff, rooms are great, my daughter loved the different color lights in our room facing the street. Very spacious.|There are enough bathrooms for everyone, we never had to wait for one. |Bathrooms are overall nice and clean, however one morning we came into a bathroom immediately after it had been cleaned, and the shower floor was full of hair (a major pet peeve of mine). All of the showers on our floor had clogged drains, so we kept showering to a minimum.|When we checked in, we asked for ear plugs, which proved very useful when on our second day there, a group of young people checked in on the same floor as us. In general the hostel is very loud, the sound of doors closing and people talking travels far, so when a group of young people starts running around, shouting and screaming and slamming doors, not even the ear plugs could keep out the noise. However, this was expected in a hostel, so we managed and luckily from approx. 1:00-7:00 they were quiet enough for us to get some sleep.|Location is great - Tram 12 is just across the street and will take you to Nordbahnhof where you can change to e.g. M10 which will take you to Hauptbahnhof. Or you can go to Friedrichstrasse in the city center. |Just across the street from the hostel there's a café called Butter - they have a nice breakfast menu with pancakes and croissant. Also, very close further down the street there's a Vietnamese restaurant called Golden Tiger, which is very nice. Big plates full of delicious food - recommendable!|So basically, apart from the noise and the clogged drains, this was a very good hostel. Price is very fair. Location is perfect.|And I would definitely stay here if ever in Berlin again.

Beautiful, spacious room and super nice staff. From booking, check-in to check-out this was a super friendly experience. I had to do quite a bit of work still and the room was perfect for this. Spent the night inside (to be ready for an early meeting the next day) and enjoyed the couch and spaciousness. Breakfast was good and quick service. Extra bonus points for the individual attention after I had left a personal item in the hotel. Received it back without effort from my end. Really grateful!

Excellent hotel. A little far from different places but still a good location (great transportation nearby). Rooms: great and super comfortable Common spaces: there was a living space, library or office, dining, great kitchen! Bathrooms: super clean and big

Happy with how cosy the private rooms are, I think the bathrooms were also excellent. Beds comfy, everything really clean. Location is wonderful. Only thing I will say is that the floors are really creaky meaning that I got woken up a few times by people walking around outside, and there's a lot of noise from the street outside. Otherwise a brilliant experience and will be happy to return

Not good for light sleepers, you can hear the train running and people talking outside even when windows closed; moreover, the floor makes noise when anyone walks. But overall a great place to stay, great location, clean bed supplies, functional bathroom and basically everything a person needs for staying a few days. Will visit again if I ever come back to Berlin.

I have stayed here 3 times and it has been a great place to stay. It’s always been value for money, clean and safe. I love Berlin and return when I can and I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. Located in fashionable Prenzlauer Berg it is close to most amenities such as a large supermarket just up the road plus loads of food places. It’s next to Kreuzburger if you fancy a filthily good burger and a beer. There’s great transport options- a tram stop just over the road and U and S bahns very close by. Erberswalder Straße is the closest U Bahn and Schönhauser Allee (very slightly further away) has both S and U Bahn terminals. You can get to Mauerpark really quickly and other major sights are within a quick train ride away. ||The hostel staff are really helpful and always make you feel welcome. The room itself is a decent size, clean and it felt at times I was the only one there. You get towels as well which is unusual for a hostel. It was freezing cold when I went last time but was nice and snug with the underfloor heating. I didn’t have any issues with getting in to using the shared bathrooms at all. A minor quibble would be the pillows as they are uncomfortable but I’ll ask for a second one next time as I will definitely be back.
