Checking in at Old Tree's House was the best decision we made so far on our trip. We followed the recommendation of Lonely Planet, and it was proven right: This place is just amazing: a small paradise with a beautiful garden, pool and spacious bungalows - but its best feature are the people. Nid was such a great host, she helped us with everything we needed and everything we didn't yet know we needed. Her friend Tui is a fantastic tour guide and just a lovely person. Come for the quality, stay for the friendships!

What a gift to get to know this place and the owner Nid! We had the greatest and most relaxing time at Old tree's house, smelling the flowers and watching the birds around us. This beautiful oasis is definitely worth a visit if you want to enjoy a calm surrounding. The hospitality of Nid was overwhelming, she gave us helpful recommendations and cared a lot about or well-being. We're already dreaming about coming back at some point in our life :)

Swimming pool is not in service, looks very neglected now as a resort from its past glory. Bathroom had dripping tap and toilet, no water pressure. Bed was extremely hard and felt worn out, many steps broken….shame would be lovely with some maintenance. As described no TV, No AC. And only one coffee sachet in room. Nicer paces on the town to stay….for what this costs it needs some maintenance…..

The hotel looked very different than the photos and very over priced for what it was. The pools were all empty except for one very small one. The room seemed like it had not been well maintained- the fan was very dirty, the bed was VERY old and worn out and sagged into the middle- and for over 50$ CAN I expect more. The lock on the door did not work at all, the sink facet dripped loudly - the bathroom door handle was loose and there was only 1 Nescafé packet for 2 people- never have I had that in Thailand. The place just seemed like it had been let go a lot- I will Not return when I am here again.

Nice resort pity that it is not maintained very well. You can see it has been a beautiful place and with some love it can be a nice place again. The owner is a lovely lady who can really give you nice recommendations about where to go.

What a wonderful garden! Several pools to cool off in. Beautifully made and decorated bungalows, all woven rush and bamboo. Great birds that you can watch from your verandah. It’s quiet and you can see the stars. Dawn views over the mountains and river Maekok are breath-takingly gorgeous. Nid is very kind and gave us fruit from her garden. What a great place to relax.

Stayed for two nights in a spacious bungalow with a fabulous view across valley. Breakfast good. Also had an excellent northern thai dinner at short notice on first night as rain and public holiday left us few options. 15 minute walk to town. Also walked up to temple. Nid arranged driver to take us to Chiang Rai as Mae Kok was raging due to rain. Lovely place. Recommend.

Our room was pleasant and comfortable. The grounds of the resort are very attractive. Nid and her staff were uniformly friendly. The breakfast was tasty and varied. Nonetheless probably wouldn't stay here again. The resort is a 12-15 minute walk from town w/ the last stretch up a super-steep driveway. Despite enjoying the breakfast the one day we had it, we found it a bit spendy @ $6/person. Add two breakfasts to our room (cheapest on the property @ $38/night) and you're looking at $50/night, which didn't seem brilliant value.
