9 Best Museums in New Orleans

"There are some impressive old structures in the French Quarter, and the Old Ursuline Convent is most certainly one of them; completed in 1752, it's one of the finest examples of French architecture in the United States. The building has lived many lives: a convent, a schoolhouse, a residence for the Archbishop, and a seat of city legislature. Inside, past the simple façade, are wooden staircases and stained-glass windows." - Paul Oswell

Really beautiful inside and out. The lady selling the (inexpensive) tickets was so helpful and knowledgeable, plus she was just the nicest person! Many historical items inside and a peaceful atmosphere.

You feel the history here. It’s a beautiful spot for a more formal, sacred-feeling ceremony. Definitely one for couples who love New Orleans and want something timeless and grand.

Went here twice and enjoyed both tours. It is a very historic building with an amazing church as well. I would recommend coming here.

Was a good little spot to visit. Was a great way to get some background info on the city and how the rule has changed over time. The tour guide Sarah was really knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting The building is pretty nice, and there's some cool (if a little gross) relics in there too. No wait to enter but I think the tours run every half hour, I had just missed one so had to wait.

Absolutely a must visit. The convent and church are stunning; everything in their collection is well labeled and vast in both historical and religious significance. Our guide Tom was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and had so much to share on how the convent and the nuns played a role in New Orleans history. We were also given as much time as we needed after the tour to look at everything closer, which was appreciated. My partner and I left incredibly impressed!

We have lived in this area all of our lives but had never toured the Old Ursulines Convent. We went this morning and it was even better than imagined. This is the oldest structure in the Mississippi Valley, steeped in history and absolutely lovely. Beautiful grounds and church. The tour is extremely interesting and informative. A must do in the French Quarter if you can.

Mr. Martin let an incredible tour. I didn't just learn about the building and the history of the Catholic Church in New Orleans, but I learned so much about New Orleans itself. I really really loved this tour and id highly recommend it. It really makes you think about the history and the people more and adds a lot of gravity to the streets you get to walk on.

Very enriching experience, beware the 4-hr window of opportunity!
