Very convenient and comfortable guest house in Patterdale where Alfred Wainwright used to stay (when it was called Ullswater View). Excellent drying room, lovely breakfast, comfortable bed, very helpful proprietor and staff and lots of books and items to fascinate anyone undertaking the great man’s Coast to Coast walk. A charming outdoor bar area for guests is particularly welcome for walkers on warm, dry summer nights!

Absolutely delightful stay! Dave & Andrea are delightful hosts. The rooms are charming and after a long day walk on the Coast to Coast trail it was so nice to sit at the outside bar and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings with a drink. I walked the C2C with my 14 year old son who is on the autistic spectrum. Because of that there is very few foods he will eat so Dave was kind enough to heat some of the food I had brought for him and really helped accommodate him which as a father is so greatly appreciated. Highly recommend both for the facilities and the warm and gracious hosts.

We make a regular point of visiting every time we visit the Lakes. By far the most beautiful beer garden that you'll ever visit, especially after a long lovely walk. We visited with our two young children and the owners were so friendly and accommodating as ever. Reasonable prices and lovely local drinks. We hope that you enjoy having your family up for the summer! 😎

We were doing the 12 day coast to coast walk- this meant we arrived alter than people doing shorter days. We had a 30km walk that day and the next. Arriving late meant we could not get a hot breakfast the next day if we wanted to leave earlier than 840. They said who ever arrived first got to chose their breakfast time and so people doing longer hike days got the later breakfast times- or just a cold breakfast. They offered a baked potato for dinner which had minimal topping (and I had paid for double topping!) and low effort in a styrofoam container to be eaten perched on ones lap. The drying room was great. The room was tiny but pretty. The hosts seemed flustered. It was okay,|But only having the option of cold breakfast, because we were hiking double the distance of other people-|spoilt the stay for us.

😊: Friendly proprietor and staff. The 2 rooms we had were clean and tidy. Very nice views from the rooms. They were quiet. The choice of things for breakfast were very good and set us up for most of the day. There were gardens with picnic tables leading down to small river which was picturesque. Lots of walks and boaty things to do just a short drive away.. 😢: Cannot think of anything..

Our 2nd stay at the Old Water View - another amazing experience! Breakfast is excellent and the hospitality shown by Dave and Andrea was top notch! Really a wonderful place to stay (and if you're doing the coast-to-coast it's chock full of memorabilia).

Stayed one night on the Coast to Coast. It's a fabulous place to stay. The owners are welcoming & the location is fantastic. We stayed in the Hurdy Hut that was great. The facilities are in the main house but that was no problem for us. We had the bonus of a visit from the local red squirrel Lots of C2C history and the owners make sure you are very comfortable after a hard day's walking. Really nice outdoor bar as well as the indoor snug bar Breakfast was good my only comment would be if the evening food offer could be expanded. I understand that's up to the owners. It's not an issue as the pub serves good food and is a few minutes walk away. All in all highly recommended
