Fun store to walk thru and get a bite to eat, a drink and some candy! Definitely worth the stop to stretch the legs and get something sweet for the trip. Also, there are a number of areas to walk through with antiques and other interesting items. In fact, there are a few blocks of old-west town to walk thru - so, if Darby isn't your destination, spend a little time here and enjoy the journey.

This is our new Christmas tradition! We LOVED the horse wagon ride and felt so welcomed. Everyone who worked there was so lovely and you could tell they cared and enjoyed what they were doing. The gift shop has a huge variety of things old and new. The hot cocoa and s’more bar was included with our tickets for the ride and there was a sweet fire pit out back for us while we waited. The girls got to pet and take pictures with the horses afterward!!! We felt safe on our ride and it was very affordable. Awesome place to get away and have an authentic old west Christmas experience !! Well worth the trip out.

The cafe has great sandwiches, the fudge is fantastic but my favorite thing is the gift shop and antique booths. I bought two Jewelry Jars from one booth that had a bunch of jewelry for sale and I got a western belt buckle from a different booth that were reasonably priced. The rock shop has some nice crystal formations too. We really enjoyed our time at the Old West Candy Store & Antique Shop.

So much fun! We went in for candy and stayed for an hour looking around all the different stores. Got a huckleberry milk shake and a picture with RIP and John Dutton!

The Old West experience in Darby is worth the drive! Something for everyone and fun for the whole family. The building is huge, and each room is a different experience from candy and chocolates and restaurant to art and souvenirs and antiques and western decor and so much more. One large space recently became a vendor antique mall, with fresh items arriving all the time. Wander and shop until you're hungry and then enjoy something delicious from the restaurant. Visit beautiful Darby and make a day of it!

Google
Went to ca dy store had radio up loud and ring bell several times nobody was around had to walk around for 10 minutes trying to find someone.. with nobody at the candy store it makes it easy for people to steal if they wanted to. Price is way to hi 6 dollars for a small piece of fudge or candy that's a lil bit much not worth it for that price should be cheaper for small prices and if bigger pieces then I can see higher prices will not be back. Was not impressed..

Overpriced? Yes. A staple of my childhood? Absolutely. Driving into Darby from our cabin in Sula for the candy store was always a highlight. Great selection of candy, with lots of old fashioned hard candies(kosher fruits, pinwheels, licorice, the works) and huckleberry merchandise. Lot of jelly bellies and great chocolate. The rest of the store has local Montana merchandise. Come stop and enjoy!

Google
Okay little store. Kinda pricy because it's a tourist place. Coffee was simply okay. Tasted burnt and just off. Got ice cream the day before and it was horrible. Tastes like frozen milk slush with candy bits. Definitely don't Recommend the ice cream or coffee. Truffles and candy were good. Wish they had some more gifts and merchandise in there.

Yelp
Best huckleberry shake ever! Quaint little restaurant attached to candy and antique store..Serves breakfast and lunch ...I haven't tried the breakfast but menu looks pretty good.

Yelp
The candy store and antiques is a great place to find all your candy fixings and apparel. I would give those stores a 5/5, if the 1/5 is for the way we were treated in the cafe. Our waitress was very kind and helpful but it was the other waitress that came up to us and demanded documentation for our dog. Legally, you are not supposed to do that and gave us a lecture on our service dog, and how he was not well trained and not welcomed. For some reason, this whole county has a stigma and vendetta out for dogs. Again, legally you are NOT ALLOWED to ask for documentation at all. That was her first problem. I would like to also mention, our dog is an ESA AND a psychiatric service dog. When we mentioned he was a service animal and and ESA she cut us off and said "ESA is not considered a service dog" which we know. She did not let us finish and instead of allowing us to explain, which legally we do not have too, she told us to remove our dog. I have never felt the way she made us feel in there. I hope y'all train your staff better because under ADA we could of filed a lawsuit. Our dog is well trained, well behaved, and is a service dog. We felt unwelcomed and we left.

Yelp
Did not explore the antique mall side or the restaurant. This review is for the candy and fudge area. Old West has a great selection of fudge and old-style candies. I picked up some dark chocolate bites and some rocky road fudge to bring back home. Both were flavorful with lots of chocolate and filling. The lady at the desk was very nice and was genuinely interested in how my road trip was going. If I ever return to the Bitterroot, I'd return to see the antique side in addition to getting more of that sweet fudge.

Yelp
Great and friendly service. A bit pricey, but ok for a once in a while visit. Kids love this place. Great candy, although wish there was more old candies and less current candies. The antique side was very interesting to see. Very cool stuff in there. Fun time.

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick bite to eat. I was pleasantly surprised. I got the #6 breakfast combo and I would def order it again! The staff was very friendly and the restrooms were clean. They also have huckleberry ice cream and huckleberry jams/treats if you're looking for souvenirs.

Yelp
What a great place to enjoy a coffee, mini breakfast and deli as well as candy and shopping all in a nearly block long store. They a very friendly and their service is super. One of the best places I have ever been in throughout my travels.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst coffee one can ever have. Being Italian and a New Yorker who grew up working in Bakeries and cafes. I thought I would give it a tray. the day before we bought a cute item in the store. This morning , I returned and ordered a Americano and Mocha. It was made a young girl who was probably about 15 years old. She seemed to also be training another person on how to make coffee. The sign said a 12 oz americano was $2.25, I was charged $3. The Mocha or allegedly mocha was $4. Definitely not worth the price for what would be 50 cent NYC street coffee. It took awhile to make the coffee and when i got my americano coffee i asked where the cream was and i was a directed to a counter that had fake cream powder to put in the coffee. This stuff is artificial and is absolutely disgusting. The Mocha tasted like badly nixed fast food mocha. McDonalds Mocha is way superior as is McDonald natural fair trade coffee which i as a senior can get for a buck or less. This cafe was truly a disappointment. It was $7 that went into the trash can also it was not the cleanest place, people were using the candy scoopers over and over and then dropping in a big owl, not even sanitized. Yuck! Same with jelly bean samples and also no social distancing

Yelp
Tried the deli in the old west candy store. I ordered a beagle with huckleberry cream cheese and huckleberries, and a pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was the best I have ever eaten. It had a rich smokey flavor. My only complaint is, it needed a pickle to cut the richness. All in all I'm ordering this again.

Yelp
We stopped by on our way to Stevensville. The coffee was delicious, bought a few souvenirs to take back to California. Bought some chocolates, huckleberry jams, and huckleberry taffy. All delicious! What stood out to me was Tony! He provided exceptional customer service! He is very funny and converted a long tired trip into a great morning! Stopping by "for coffee" was one of the best part of our trip! Thank you again Tony! -California girls-

Yelp
If your looking for your run of the mill "tourists stores" this would be it. Two stars because of the made in USA candy shop and slight collection of western themed antiques (way over priced!!! Advice - hit a local thrift store). Don't be fooled... Lots of made in China gifts. Which no offense, but hey, let's support local artists. Not worth the drive from Hamilton; so skip the shopping and head for the trail heads.

Anna S.

Yelp
We found the candy store VERY over priced for the selection. Cute inside, but common types candies. Most of which can be purchased at any local grocery or convenience store. It is only a small part of the business with several other shops. Many things to look at within the business and a nice selection of Montana made products.

Yelp
Love this place! Every time we are in Darby we visit. This past weekend I had the pleasure of trying their pumpkin spice latte and it was amazing!!! It wasn't over powerful on the pumpkin and tasted even better than i could ever imagine. Their fudge is great and made in-house and there are so many Knick knacks i could spend all day there. Plus my son got a cool dinosaurs stuffy with a Montana bandana. Can't wait to be back

Yelp
Have been visiting this shop for the past three years now, and it's awesome. Probably one of the main attractions in Darby. Great selection of art and other items, and their candy store is AWESOME. Pretty much any kind of candy you could want is there (this is especially great because there aren't a lot of other places nearby with the same options). Rosie is wonderful and we always enjoy seeing her when we go in. The kids love her, too! What a fantastic business!

Yelp
Walked in, cute place and the two younger workers were friendly and helpful. My friend asked for 8 pieces of honeycomb chocolate and the guy put it in a container, weighed it and told her it was $9.58. I thought, oh that's a good price, so I asked for 4 pieces. We both also got two small pieces of fudge each and at the register (the young girl was now ringing me up) my total came to $24.00! She said the fudge was $10 and the 4 pieces of honeycomb was $14. I said, wait, that can't be right and indicated my friend's chocolate was only $9, why was mine $14 for half of the amount of the same thing? The girl said he did hers wrong and proceeded to scold and berate him in front of us, telling him they just raised the prices to $35/pound!! Then she said we couldn't have it for the $9 price, and she'd put the chocolate back in the case, and we thought, WHAT??? With COVID, you're putting the chocolate back instead of letting us have it for the price he quoted it for (wrote it in black marker on the package). Then the owner came over and said loudly, these are kids who you can't blame for making mistakes, I'll handle these two women (as if we were being very difficult). At THAT point I got MAD, while I had stayed calm, polite and quiet the whole time before that, even told my friend not to get upset, but when the owner was soooo rude, I got rude back, paid for the two pieces of fudge for $10 and walked out. The owner then started complaining about me to my friend while she paid for her now $13.32 priced 8 pieces of honeycomb (mind you, they were previously trying to charge me $14 for 4 pieces of the same chocolate). WHAT A RIP OFF store, and RUDE OWNER!

Yelp
I have lived in Darby for 20 years. It is not always easy to find something to eat on the go. I love the deli and more so because it's locally sourced ingredients.

John S.

Yelp
Disappointed that neither of the staff members were wearing masks. That is the ultimate in customer abuse. It was our annual trip to the store and for the first time bought nothing.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Really wanted to love the huckleberry truffle at $25.99 a pound but it was flavorless. Not impressed.

Kelly S.

Yelp
An unpleasant ending to our wonderful camping trip. We decided to camp so we didn't spend a bunch of money this weekend. Stopped to get some candy for our road trip home and it cost us $50 for six little bags of candy. Buyer beware.

Jan J.

Yelp
Every time we go through Darby we stop here. Love everything about the store. The people are GREAT! Always nice. Always helpful. The variety of items makes looking around an adventure...and the prices are EXCELLENT! In many cases far lower than I would have expected. We rarely leave empty-handed and, if nothing else, always find some candy to take back home. Thanks everybody...and thanks for the beautiful angel. Her meaning for us will never wane.

Natasha M.

Yelp
I will not be patronizing this business again. I ended up purchasing chocolate after asking the gal at the counter the price per pound. To which she replied "$5.99 per pound". I got about half a bag of chocolate and it was near closing so they were clearly rushing my mom, grandma, and I out of the store, attempting to ring us all up at the same time. I will admit it was my fault for not realizing exactly what I had been charged, but when I got home at looked at my receipt it said $39.30. I called the business assuming something else must have been wrung up on my tab accidentally. The woman on the phone was very abrasive after I asked if there may have been a mistake and told me chocolate is $25.99 per pound! I explained that, had I known that I probably wouldn't have gotten what I got, but I understand and accept what I paid. I also expressed that the woman working the counter fumbled a bit when we were there and seemed new (as a senior employee seemed to be training her while we were there) and asked that maybe she should be trained more on their pricing as to avoid further confusions like this. She told me "Sometimes people hear what the want to hear". So I promptly hung up. I'm sorry, but customer service is everything. I felt I wasn't abrasive, I didn't ask for any type of refund, I was trying to offer a solution so that she wouldn't get someone angrier than me about a simple mistake later on. Not impressed.

Yelp
My favorite candy store ever! My favorite Montana gift shop ever! Rosie and Gene are super people and great for our community!
