Old Westbury Gardens is truly a hidden gem on Long Island, offering a delightful escape into nature for both adults and children alike. Visiting with my two kids, we found it to be a beautiful, serene environment where we could fully immerse ourselves in the wonders of the outdoors. The expansive gardens are perfect for a day of exploration, and we took full advantage by walking barefoot on the lush grass, practicing grounding, and even taking a moment to hug some of the grand, old trees scattered throughout the property. There's something incredibly rejuvenating about connecting with nature in such a direct and simple way.
The views are nothing short of breathtaking. Every corner of the garden presents a new, picturesque scene just begging to be captured. We left with our hearts full and our camera roll packed with stunning photos that will serve as lovely memories of our day.
However, I do wish there were more stroller-accessible paths, especially in some of the more remote areas and Rose Garden for example. While the grounds are generally well-maintained, navigating with a stroller can be challenging at times, particularly on the more uneven or gravelly paths. That said, the overall experience was still fantastic, and the minor inconvenience of maneuvering the stroller did little to detract from our enjoyment.
Old Westbury Gardens is a perfect spot for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. By the way we got our FREE passes in our local library.
Parking wasnt full when we visited but I assume depending on the day and events it might get packed pretty fast. Also be aware of the narrow entrance for the car to the Garden.
