"We met some folks and then we went into this very bougie kind of expensive grocery store that we always go to when we’re in Hudson. I think it’s called Olde Hudson. We got a baguette and hummus and pesto and a drink called switchel. It was like a lime-and-ginger apple-cider-vinegar drink that was really good."

Excellent double espresso, cold brew and blueberry scone was delicious. 😋 The proprietor went out of her way to make us comfortable and happy on our way to a nearby wedding. I highly recommend.

Google
$40 for two sandwiches & sodas plus a 23-minute wait before they arrived. Surly service who didn’t deliver basic things like utensils/napkins, for which we asked twice. Charcuterie sandwich was decent; tuna salad dry as a bone

Henry Graham

Google
The most disrespectful and obnoxious staff I’ve ever met. I tried to order food and they said the lunch menu was closing in five minutes but we could order whatever we want. We sat at the table and when no one came at 4:35. I went to order food and they said sorry you can’t order anything from the lunch menu and laughed my face. When I left, I turned around and saw the two obnoxious servers, mocking me and my children I would never go to this place ever again..

Google
Diabolical experience today. I popped in to pick up a few things for dinner, and was excited to grab the last baguette! Imagine my disappointment when I stood in the register with eight other customers for fifteen minutes, not moving an inch. I know service is slow in Hudson, but this was next level. Eventually I took a closer look. Four staff members were standing around the machine glumly, staring at their navels, with gormless expressions on their faces. Not a single clue between the lot of them. Eventually one of them mumbled under their breath that the machine was down. Thanks, pal. You could have saved me a lot of hassle by speaking up earlier. I left my items on the counter and walked out, as did the other customers. To the owner: please train your staff in how to communicate, how to make eye contact, and how to be a grown-up. You're marketing premium products with premium prices - but the customer service falls woefully short of expectations.

Jeremy Elgarten

Google
The market is very nice, fresh produce with specialty items... $48 a pound for fresh Halibut... $48 a pound for frozen Halibut...... Young kid at the register "I don't make the prices"... There is no place on the planet that you're catching Halibut worth $48 per pound... I know, owner is going to respond to this post with some explanation... Like I said, there is nowhere on the planet where Halibut costs $48 per pound... and your cashier needs a pep talk on customer service.

Google
We stopped in on a whim and stayed for lunch. It's a small place but the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Google
Just fell into this spot while bouncing around Hudaon NY and it was fantastic. Great sandwiches, Coffee Bar, and selection of meats and groceries. Also ice cream. All was delicious!

Drew Freerks

Google
Little on the pricey side, but excellent flavor and friendly staff. Their sandwiches were extremely delicious and unique

Yelp
I love to get soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch at Olde Hudson. The dining area has beautiful large windows and is flooded with daylight. One of my favorite dining spots in town. They also have an excellent selection of amazing cheeses, salamis and olive oils. I also purchase my fresh fish here for when I'm cooking at home or grilling outdoors in the summer. So happy they are my neighbor in Hudson!

Yelp
Prices are high but the items were very high quality and the homemade pizza was crunchy and delicious. Friendly service too.

Colleen B.

Yelp
So disappointed. Had a mediocre sandwich for lunch. Went into Deli to shop. Purchased 4 cookies stating made in their kitchen and also a squash soup less than 2 cups totaling 20$. cookies were NOT made in that Kitchen.....maybe a slice and bake but dry and stale and the soup was watered down with no taste what so ever. Sorry.....won't ever be returning. Prices outrageous and Food was not good .

C K.

Yelp
What a delight! Roxanne was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. The ice cream was delicious, and they carried some of my favorite brands of fancy foods! (I was psyched to see that they offered only Harney's Teas-- my 100% go-to!) I'll return next time I'm in the area of the cute little town.

Yelp
This is a racist, classist establishment. I live down Warren St. & shop here occasionally. Manager has made a habit of only respecting myself, a Black person, when I am with/near my partner who is white. He was kind and hospitable until I began interacting with him independetnly. Since then he has genuinely been cold and avoidant, recently runninf me in circles for a job which he offered me months ago via Indeed. I am a barista with 6 years of experience, and I can't imagine any reason why he would "withdraw" if not for my appearance. Many employees are not well trained and there seems to be an emphasis on hiding the POC employees in BOH roles, this outside of apparently discouraging certain "types" from sticking around. Manager is socially incompetent and i have witnessed him behaving unprofessionally with both his own employees and customers of many creeds and on many independent occasions. He is rude and defensive and this seems to be the root of many of this business' issues. The team is not equipped for the amount of traffic it gets some days, and hispoor approaches to damage control stand out to anyone with or without experience in the industry. I would recommend Hudson Roastery down the block for similar quality food/drinks at a fairer price. At the very least, OH should be avoided for overcharging.

Mario S.

Yelp
The team at Olde Hudson and the quality of food and products are second to none. Definitely worth visiting while in Hudson.

Yelp
Sadly, it's one of those cases where it looks alluring and inviting + popular on the outside but the reality is they don't know how to handle the crowds, are sooo slow and super overpriced (but what isn't in Hudson!) therefore tensions run high all around. Soo loud in there too Bad energy emanating :( Also, the cafe layout is a poorly thought of... again, leading to disorder and short fuses. Got outta there asap. Lesson learned, won't be returning anytime soon. The thing is, it has potential... maybe a few tweaks and consistent good new reviews and I'll consider stepping back inside

Jaclyn G.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this gem with a large group visiting Hudson. The owner was cheerful and helpful. Food was outstanding! It's a charming market and cafe. The baked goods and pizza were great.

Yelp
Looking for a quick coffee on the block brought me over here on a Saturday afternoon. A nice covered seating area in the front and two doors leading to the market and café separately. Went through one door and was told to wait outside until the barista arrived (took about 6 minutes). While we were waiting we noticed the sign said to order through the website in advance. However we were able to give our order directly to the barista once she got to the door. For my order, decided on the Iced Coffee ($2.75) and a Cranberry Scone ($4.75). Coffee/Pastry was ready in a few minutes - good strength in the drink although it was mostly ice. For the scone, a flavorful buttery interior and a crisped outside. Seems like a nice spot on a normal day for groceries and pastries. Wouldn't make a special trip over but a cheaper option for breakfast on the street.

Joan C.

Yelp
If you don't mind patronizing a retailer that has that ugly contemptuous practice of not pricing their merchandise so as to discourage the unwashed, you will happily purchase their foolishly overpriced wares! I've always loved and purchased high-end, quality goods, but being swindled for the privilege of shopping here, has made my decision for me......that it's best to go elsewhere for the same products!

Adam D.

Yelp
What a terrible experience! A friend and I stopped in on Saturday for a little pick-me-up while shopping Warren. We ordered two espresso drinks at the coffee bar. The woman behind the counter informed us that the barista had to unexpectedly leave or on break, and as such our drinks would take a minute. We said sure and proceeded to sit down to a table and wait. Soon after an employee circled behind the coffee bar and started fumbling around the espresso maker. We assumed this was the absent barista ready to make our drinks, but later learned he was the manager and I'll equipped at the espresso machine. It turned out that there was a large group order ahead of us which the woman who took our order didn't care to inform us about. And as such, the man was taking a long while to fumble his wait through the many mochas, lattes, cappuccinos of the surprise group before us. We passed the time chatting and planning our day. Twenty minutes in, I was ready to just abandon our coffees but before leaving, I walked up to the gentleman at the espresso maker and said "excuse me, we've been waiting quite a while for our drinks and I just wanted to see where we're at in the queue so I can determine if we continue to wait or come back later." Before I could even finish, he raised his voice at me - explaining that he was the manager and "it's not his job to make the coffees" and he was going as fast as he could. As you can imagine, I was startled by his aggressiveness in response to my simple inquiry. But it got even worse - the woman who originally took our order walked over and, without even hearing my question or having any context besides him yelling at me, reiterated that he's the manager and does not work the espresso machine etc. The approach of two employees hanging up on a customer, the tone of their language and honestly the whole interaction was appalling. Avoid this place.

Yelp
I have NEVER been treated so POORLY in an establishment before as a patron and felt compelled to leave this honest review. On my very first trip to Hudson, I walked into Olde Hudson which I am regretful I ever did. After spending $80 on over-priced provisions in this shop, I stepped out to the food truck next door to grab a quick bite (I did not see an open cafe or lunch menu in this provisions shop for me to grab something to eat). The cafe had a "closed" sign on the door. Also Note: the outdoor seating was entirely empty, not a soul in site! It was a Thursday afternoon on 5/5/22. I sat down to enjoy a quick bite from the food truck after loading my provisions in my car. Never did I think I was doing anything wrong here. One of the staff members comes out to interrupt my quick meal to tell me to leave!!! My mouth dropped to the ground.. I had just been a generous patron- $80 again. I reminded the staff I just shopped in his store in case he forgot already, and he didn't seem to care. The. replied with "we don't allow any outside food, and if you got that from the food truck, you will need to leave". Just the audacity-- I was utterly appalled. I went back in the shop to speak to a supervisor and ask if I can then return the $80 worth of goods because of the poor attitude I received from staff and he said "no you cannot" and went on to chew me out in a nasty manner in front of other shoppers. I couldn't get a word in edgewise either. I've never been so mistreated, disrespected and humiliated as a patron in my life. I am a sweetheart to most everyone and every business I encounter... never have a problem with anything. But I cannot believe what happened during my experience shopping at this place. Something I will never forget on my first 10 minutes strolling through Hudson on what was supposed to be a nice, enjoyable time. Just destroyed by this business and had to share !! :(

Yelp
Gorgeous store, full of everything that you didn't know you needed!! Everything is laid out beautifully...lots of local stuff and unique brands. I wish I lived next door to this place!!

Sarah F.

Yelp
So, apparently one needs to define their terms at Olde Hudson. Salad dressing is plain olive oil. Vinegar is white vinegar unless you want to drop another $2.50 for a drop or two of balsamic. Staff seem exhausted and grumpy. Spare your time and your cash!!
google avatar

Reshard R.

Yelp
Packed with all of the carbs and cheeses and decadent chocolates that you need for an afternoon with friends for wine. But it is also attached to a small cafe that gives you great comfort and options for pastries and baked goods.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Don't be fooled - the "homemade herb dressing" on the salad is just olive oil. I pointed out to our server that olive oil alone does not a salad dressing make, and she told me I could get some vinegar on the side for an extra $2.50. Pass.
google avatar

Rosine G.

Yelp
This market has various gourmet finds. Prices are slightly on the expensive side, however, you could probably find some goodies here that you can't easily find elsewhere. It was fund to browse around. We ended up trying truffle chips and Jamon chips. Both really good!
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
The market itself is a wonderland of some of the best pork I've ever tried. And the selection of cheeses, sausages, and locally source products is enough to make any foodie skip a breath. The cafe next door is a perfect stop over for breakfast, lunch or a delicious treat. In the summer there's ice cream out front and in the winter the soups do more than leave you satisfied. Grab a table, do some work or catch up with a friend, and then wander through the market to dream about what you want to cook up for dinner.

Yelp
Lovely gourmet grocery, with very friendly and helpful staff. There is a cafe and a grocery, somewhat separated but same store. Found here - select fresh organic produce and specialty items, espresso drinks and a lunch cafe. This place is especially for you: if you want a fresh, housemade lunch with gourmet touches, or picnic items like cheese and rustic pie. I visited the cafe and had soup and salad, and I could actually taste the quality olive oil on the salad in the dressing. It led me to buy a high quality olive oil, which I do not regret It's not the most amazing or diverse menu, and prices in the market are high, but everything in the market is thoughtful, and everything in the cafe is made with the high quality grocery items they carry. (I know this because, while making my oatmilk latte, the amazing staff person in the cafe told me about the use of the store's specialty gourmet items in the menu. This prompted me to give it 4 stars instead of 3, owner will note!). I will revisit for the good vibes, the peruseability, and the affectionate staff at the coffee helm. This market is perfect for gifts, when looking for specialty items, or gourmet foods for your pantry. Lots of selection of olives, pasta and crackers, spices and dried herbs, cheeses, chocolates, and gluten free items.

Ralph M.

Yelp
Olde Hudson is a tourist trap it's a well merchandise shopped that's over priced with bad customer service. Tourists - spend your money elsewhere like Talbott and Arding where you get delicious food and warm hospitality.
google avatar

Fred R.

Yelp
I used to shop here, but I think the quality of the market, and particularly the produce, has gone down dramatically in recent years. I've left the market with asparagus only to find it soggy and rotted inside the bundle. There are no prices on about 90% of the items in the expansive (and expensive) market. A dozen eggs was $9. 4 strips of bacon for $12. It's clear this store is not for the people who live in Hudson. There are a few other places in town to get a lot of the same things a whole lot cheaper.
google avatar

Sandra M.

Yelp
came here once on vacation and bought several dried foods and ice cream from the front. We got some gluten-free chocolate chip cookies for $6.50, red lentil gluten free pasta, mini chocolate bars, gluten-free penne, corn on the cob to grill, chocolate turtles... This is what happens when you shop when you're hungry... :-) This is a really cute place, I would come back here to sit and eat at the cafe when I have a little more time...
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
I echo a prior comment that mentioned the prices being insulting. Example: 4.5 slices of bacon for $11-12. I've raised Organically grown heritage pigs myself. Bacon, even really good bacon, shouldn't cost this much. We were in a pinch and chanced it. It was disappointing. I live less than a block away and have run in here for staple items - vegetable oil and the like - no dice. Only fancy olive oil. Even NYC weekender friends have said it's more expensive than a lot of places NYC. No price tags on items either and it feels very awkward to ask every time. The market is attractive. Having milk super close is nice. Service was ok nothing special. I have never tried cafe.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
This place is an absolute insult. New York City prices, lousy portions and utterly unimaginative food. Went once six months ago and was not impressed. Decided to give it another chance since I live only a block away. Paid $10.80 for a tuna salad sandwich which I only chose because all but one other of their sandwich offerings were sold out. The sandwich amounted to nothing more than some canned tuna, unceremoniously thrown on a naked baguette with a few slices of cucumber. There was nothing salad about my tuna salad. WTF? Not sure why I expected more from a place that feels so utterly contrived. If your looking for casual lunch food, keep walking a few more blocks to Bruno's where the sandwiches cost the same or less and are works of culinary delight that will leave you wanting more. And if the adjoining market in this place is calling out to you, instead check out the Farmers Market for better more affordable produce.
google avatar

Colleen R.

Yelp
Holy expensive! We went for lunch spent $30 on a salad and small cheese board! Also $7.99 for a chocolate bar and $5.50 for small carrot bundle. Come on! I love eating organic and I understand that it's more expensive in general but not by that much. Atmosphere was nice.

Anonymous T.

Yelp
I almost never post bad reviews but the food here was so so expensive and so so bad. We got a beef sandwich that was just over cooked flavorless leathery meat, and a lentil soup that was just like someone put lentils in a cup and poured hot water over them. 2 of those soups, the one terrible sandwich, 2 sodas and a coffee was $50. Just - no.

Erin M.

Yelp
Wanted ice cream, the gentleman standing at the market told us to walk over to the cafe and assured us the guy at the cafe would come to the door and read us the flavors. Stood outside the cafe for ten minutes waiting for the guy who was eating behind the counter with a girl blatantly ignoring us. When we finally knocked he informed us that he couldn't help us because everything needed to be ordered through the website. We sat down to order through our phone and the guy from the cafe came out as we were about to place the order to tell us they were 'no longer scooping ice cream' at 3:30 in the afternoon... Awful customer service with cafe staff who are clearly too lazy to be employed. Perk of the visit: tried culture cream instead where the staff and ice cream excelled! Don't waste your time at olde Hudson
google avatar

Andrew E.

Yelp
This is the original Hudson gourmet shop and their success only proves the concept. They started out with a small storefront with only the best delicatessen meats and cheeses. Now they are a good-sized market plus cafe. Come here for the best provisions you'll find anywhere--and lots of other goodies!
google avatar

Mehul P.

Yelp
Deena is amazing, over the past three years I've gotten to frequent her store. She does an amazing job sourcing really nice high end meats, cheeses and other products......the pies are out of this world good....the customer service is outstanding.
google avatar

Trevor M.

Yelp
Great gourmet market in the center of historic Hudson on Warren St! Nice selection of meats, cheese, and specialty products. Cute adjoining cafe with outdoor seating to boot. Tasty iced coffee and freshly baked muffins, scones...and other yummy baked goods!

Emma C.

Yelp
It's a beautiful market and a great outdoor space. But, I'm sorry to say, every time I've been there I have found the staff really rude. Stand-offish, unsmiling and unwilling to help accommodate (i.e. when I tried to make an order but was told the kitchen was closing soon in such a sour, unfriendly way). Food also was I thought a bit overpriced and underwhelming. Recommend for a coffee in the sun.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I need more roast beef and peanut butter cookies. Please. Seriously best roast beef Sammy in town. I only get sad when it's not on the menu.
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
This is a great market to stock up on local snacks for a picnic! While it can get a bit pricy, the quality is great. I quickly found my favorite cheese in the entire world -- pecorino moliterno with truffles. The staff is friendly and attentive, so ask for a taste and it'll change your life! Highly recommended with the wizecrackers (garlic and rosemary flavor!). They also have a cute cafe on the side which stocks SoCo creamery ice cream. I had never really been a fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream (of that bright green variety), but after a tasting of their non-green version, I was hooked!
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch on our way home to Westchester from a weekend in Saratoga Spring. We ordered freshly made sandwiches for the family and they were all tasty. I really enjoyed my pork sandwich and veggie gazpacho soup. Though everything was tasty but certainly not cheap (more like Manhattan prices).

katie C.

Yelp
Nice spot but the use of petrol plastic cutlery is inexcusable at their extreme price point. Plenty of margin for a bio plastic alternative. The salads are served in bio plastic but it's still excessively wasteful and hard to eat. Cardboard containers would be a better customer experience and better for the planet.
google avatar

Chen Z.

Yelp
Little market place in a small town which mostly sells organic products. Their frozen meat section has a wide range of goods.
google avatar

Bruce C.

Yelp
Stopped for an iced coffee and ice cream. The ice cream (from soco creamery) was really delicious with unique flavors; we had banana brownie. Great, shaded outdoor seating area. There is a cute coffee bar with wine by the glass and everything you would need for an awesome picnic, like bakery treats. It's nice and air conditioned inside too!

Yelp
After leaving an honest review about my experience with this establishment, an antagonistic employee further proved the point I originally made: they are dismissive, disrespectful, and elitist. "Received 2/26/2021, 9:56pm Subject: You need to apologize or delete your post please "Listen:    My name is Doug Holst, I am Assistant Manager in the market at Olde Hudson.  Your post really upset all of us today at Olde Hudson.  Was that your intention, to upset hard-working, good people who are just trying to do our jobs?!   We are in the midst of a very difficult global pandemic, and those of us in the grocery business are on the front lines.   YOU.  HAVE. NO.  IDEA.   We have been afraid for our very lives for this past year because we deal with people such as yourself, travelers who do not quarantine, and feel entitled, as if you own the world.   I've been at Olde Hudson for 4 and a half years and I highly doubt your post.   We have dozens and dozens of wonderful, faithful, adoring customers.  You roll into town and demand obedience.   Ugh.   The cafe closes before 5 every day, the market closes at 6 on Fridays, I assume the day you visited.   The cafe has been closed to the public for over a year now.  Many businesses in Hudson have had to close down because their employees caught COVid.   Thus far we have all been healthy.   You need to apologize or delete your post.   What do you do for a living?   I'm assuming that you are not an essential worker."" Draping oneself in virtue because you work with the public doesn't make you a saint. Its how you actually deal with the public that determines your character. I work in public service at a library and my spouse works in public education. No one needs to lecture us on "essential workers" or question what we do for a living. We were simply driving back home after one of our immediate family members DIED, during this pandemic. We were exhausted and hungry. Please stop trying to seem like your compassion and generosity deserves some kind of award because it wasn't demonstrated in the least. Just read the other countless reviews here and on Google about how this business treats folks. OH will falter with or without my review so really, this is just a courtesy to other would be customers.

Susan B.

Yelp
This store has been a COVID friendly spot for fresh fish and meat to cook, high quality cheese, vinegars and oils and whatever else you need for delicious restaurant quality food for pandemic eating at home. The whole staff and especially Dena are helpful and friendly. You can order for pick-up, contact free shopping or enter the store joined by a few shoppers at a time. As comments have noted, it is expensive but not more so that high quality butchers and fish mongers anywhere else. Highly recommend this spot.
google avatar

Evelyn O.

Yelp
A lot of unique gourmet items. Picked up some nice cheeses, snacks and a few interesting imported goodies.
google avatar

Lacy W.

Yelp
Great place to stock up on ingredients. They're cheese selection is amazing, and the staff is really kind about accommodating people and helped me pick out cheese to match the rest of the meal I was planning. Also a great place to pick up candies and desserts, or any of their large variety of locally made foods to use as gifts.
google avatar

Marta G.

Yelp
The best bread pudding muffins in town! A nice little cafe with a small, but well stashed market.

Yelp
I found Olde Hudson walking down Warren and met the owner randomly on our first trip to Hudson while planning our wedding not far from town. I made stops in on various weekends up, and was always impressed at the variety of gourmet goods that we could secure locally. In the middle of the week, as we were planning out final details for the weekend with our friends and family, I reached out to talk about creation of a cheese board, but were working with a budget. It was suggested that we explore some of the great cheese and meat options they have and they would help us build it ourselves. We definitely spent a LOT of time reviewing cheese and picking out amazing tasty goodies for a fantastic platter featuring amazing items like a truffle pecorino and a sheeps gouda, dried salamis, olives and marcona almonds, and then finished off our time by having some delicious Soco ice cream in the newly opened cafe attached. Dena and her husband are simply delightful and the staff kept us laughing the whole time we were there. They advised what we should have and what we may not need so we didn't go totally overboard, and were only helpful and open, never pushy or overly persuasive to buy items that we were unsure of. No need for a Dean & Deluca when you have gems like this. So nice to be greeted by such a wonderful group of people and provided with great service and a fun experience. I will definitely be stopping by whenever we're in Hudson!
google avatar

Suzette M.

Yelp
Dena has been feeding Hudson for years! Kudos to her for growing her business to meet the needs of this vibrant "foodie" community! We are partial to the cheeses and baked goods, especially the pies!

Paul Anthony S.

Yelp
Was here earlier today for a quick bite. The places seem good until I went to use the bathroom which was right next to the kitchen, it was messy and seems to be more of a storage closet. It made me rethink supporting a this business and it's sanitation policy.

Sam C C.

Yelp
Pretentious and absurdly overpriced grocery store with barely any price tag anywhere. It is insulting as someone else wrote already. Service is really slow too. Please stop supporting places like these, the owners just want to scam money out of people.

Ana K.

Yelp
Barista was extremely rude. They were out of chai, ice for coffee (in the summer), and all diary substitutions.

Ian S.

Yelp
The only redeeming feature in my estimation was that this was one of the few places purveying food on Labor Day, which is of little comfort. The service here was non-existent at best, with nobody offering to help us. I suspect that there has been too been too much exposure to the brusque New York City way of doing things i.e. wait until someone shouts you down to serve them. The baguette, hummus 2 brownies and 2 designer sugar waters totaled $18, which is rather steep for a city with crushing poverty a mere 2 block north. The dissociation between the pricing here and the people that actually live in the city is appalling. About the food; the brownies were boring and unimaginative; I could have just as easily gotten the same brownie from a Betty Crocker mix or a gas station. The baguette was almost entirely air and crust but at least palatable. The deli side was sold out of 3 out of 4 types of available sandwiches for that day and 2/3 soups. Thankfully one can eat outside to avoid the toxic levels of pretension and self-absorption going on inside the eatery itself. The atmosphere is noisy and uncomfortable for people who simply want to enjoy a meal in peace. The market side of the store sells fresh-ish looking vegetables but not at a price range for the local populace; designed for weekenders who seem to have more money than sense. Organic food does not need to cost that much! Overall, perfect if you are a self-important person with more money than you need, but a sad experience for the local who just wants to eat. TL;DR: an-overpriced grocery and deli with poor customer service, hawking bourgeoise food items for people so removed from reality that they believe money can buy everything.

J C.

Yelp
OMG! Why bother serving food when you can't do one thing right. Worst cafe to get anything even a grain bowl (mostly brown rice and a few vegys) and super expensive. Portions the smallest ever. Wait is always super long.
