Oldfield's Liquor Room

This was a nice place to meet and catch up. There was one bartender working, but that was appropriate for the size of the crowd on a Tuesday. She answered questions and created something tasty for me. The atmosphere was cozy and cool--I'd go again for a sophisticated drink or meet-up.

Awesome bar and delicious drinks! We went there to celebrate our anniversary which was also Valentine’s day! The cocktail selection is great. The Dj was okayish. I didn’t love the music but we stayed for a bit and would go back for the drinks! The service was great!

Millie is one of the most Excellent Bartenders I've seen in 25 years a Bartender/Manager/Bar Patron. Cool spot. Great vibe. Nice atmosphere. Hidden Gem. Highly recommend a visit.

This place is a great intimate escape. You take your date here, you will do well. No food, easy neighborhood parking, easy service from the bar, great drinks, and party friendly. Bring a date or bring your friends.

Excellent cocktail bar with a surprisingly great rum selection. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable; never had a bad drink here.

Amazing! Loved the atmosphere, service was fantastic and the food was outstanding. I’m sad that I wasn’t able to try some of the craft cocktails, but it was a wine kind of night! Try the short rib and the risotto - it was amazing. Will be back for sure!

Very cool ny styled speak easy/ mixology type place- we went on a Wednesday and it was the perfect vibe and atmosphere for that evening- it was also pretty busy which was nice. They were holding trivia night so that was entertaining too. We also realized you can bring your own snacks to have while you sip your cocktails! Awesome! Great bar! The kind of place where they actually know what their doing. The ginger beer is amazing. Robin is one of the best bartenders I've ever had. She made me a specialty drink that tasted better than I thought an alcoholic drink could taste.

There's nothing like finding a hidden gem in your own neighborhood. I discovered Oldfields by happenstance as I was walking a dog. When I saw it it immediately reminded me of the mom and pop dive bars I was accustomed to seeing in the south growing up. I knew these were the places that always had the best drinks. And oldfields did not disappoint. My first time here was to hangout with a new friend. We both had different tastes in liquor so wanted to go somewhere with a variety of cocktails and canned drinks just to be safe. When we walked in, we immediately appreciated that the ambience was intimate and makes for easy conversation. The staff is very knowledgeable about their drink options and even had recommendations on what we should try based on our palates. Overall an excellent experience with great drinks, awesome staff, and an intimate ambience.

Perfect for date nights, solo evenings (you can select a book from the community Little Library), and also for larger groups with extended patio area in the back. Love the bartenders and the cocktails. Always fun things on the menu but they also can make whatever you want. Big fan!

I've been frequenting this bar since moving into the area a few years ago. The dark, woody interior creates a great ambiance. Regular events at the bar (DJs on the weekend, comedy show's monthly, etc) cater to everyone's wants. The bar attracts locals and newcomers alike. While they don't serve food, there are often different food venders outside and the food is allowed to be brought into the bar. The vast selection of different alcohols offer a great variety of drink options. Their menu has a lot of creative drinks developed by the bartenders and rotates so you're never bored. My personal favorite is the drink, "You're in a cult". The bartenders are all knowledgeable and welcoming. One of them that often goes above and beyond is Box. They're always willing to mix something new to fit your specific tastes and offer suggestions of things to try when you're unsure of what to order. I highly recommend OldField's and bring all of my friends there for any occasion.

Perfect spot for a group hangout! I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday, we were a group of six. This spot has plenty of space, indoor and outdoor. Great variety of cocktails and perfect ambiance. You can stay indoors in the bar area, ideal for couples/date nights, or opt for an outdoor spot, ideal for groups, with plenty of picnic tables and heaters to keep you cozy. We came here on a Friday night and it was not too busy, which made it easy to find a place for all of us to sit and enjoy our drinks.

Ambiance: it's a standalone establishment located on Venice blvd, old fashioned decorations inside, they have a small covered patio in front of the entrance, once walked in there's a spacious and loud room inside with full bar service, further inside there's a smaller and quiet room connecting to the rear door for a large outdoor picnic style seating area right next to the building Service: the bar tender was friendly, although a bit disorganized, had to wait for a while to get his attention and place the order Drink: unique cocktails on their menu LIGHT AS A FEATHER - **** Ilegal Mezcal, Lavender, Orgeat, Luxardo, green color and bold taste, recommend SECRET STASH - **** Hendricks Gin, Cucumber, Pistachio, light and refreshing cucumber flavors, recommend Price: each cocktail costs about $15 to $17, and beer costs about $8

Not as much of a 5-star review as it is a 5-star journal entry for me. My chest is burning ... Mitch the bartender is taking care of the mixing of this volatile concoction at Oldfield's Liquor Room in Culver City. The drink included jalapeño honey, and if he did it like bartender Robin Jackson did, well, then it also had grapefrut juice, seltzer and a dash of habanero sauce. Might sound crazy but, it goes well with any food that you would normally spice up with hot sauce, which for me is most food. Side note: If you are thinking about Barney Oldfield the racecar driver right now well, he is buried right here in Culver City ... and yes, this place is named after him. I love this place mainly because you can bring your own food in, since they do not have a kitchen. Tonight my mewnu consisted of an overly delicious chicken burger from Black Sheep Burger, in Sawtelle, and their amazing curry fries. Feels good to revisit this place ... as it was so often my first stop on my weekly bar tours of L.A. that often times ended between 4:30 to 5:30 A.M. A lot has changed since 2020/pandemic.... but good bartenders still seem to work at the best of places.... I just learned that Mitch is one. Cheers! and thanks for reading my journal entry.

Great neighborhood spot for a date, group hang, or solo venture. Indoor and outdoor seating (patio out front, additional tables in the back). Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders and staff. The cocktail menu changes regularly but the bartenders can make pretty much whatever you want. Fun events too - comedy shows, reading club, mixers, and music. I also appreciate being able to bring outside food in (try the food vendor out front - trust me) for the nights you just don't want to leave.

I came here for a monthly HH on Halloween and love the outdoor space! They also have a couple of picnic tables and round tall bar tables too. I think the outside is bigger than the inside. :) No parking lot, but street parking/residential parking.

The vibe at Oldfield's is very classic and cozy. You need to go to Oldfield's if you're a cocktail connoisseur. My favorite house cocktail there is the Secret Stash ($16) made with Beluga Vodka, cucumber, lime, and house salted pistachio orgeat. Who knew that pistachios could taste so good in a cocktail? It was so good, I ordered another! I also had a lot of fun ordering because of the name - I made sure to wink at the bartender. The Tiny Dancer cocktail is my second favorite at Oldfield's, and it's also a deliciously fun time. If you like gin, this is the drink for you - it has Wilder Gin, rosemary, lemon, Green Chartreuse, and house grenadine. The Blackberry Smash is great if you enjoy super sweet cocktails.

Great vino/whiskey drinks in a dim lit bar nestled in culver city. Ambience is laid back with an upscale feel. Another nice thing about this place is that it isn't too loud and you can actually have a conversation over drinks. Service is great with no pretentious bartenders selecting who to pour drinks to first. If you want to catch up with an old friend over some drinks - come here.

Great ambiance and drinks. The service when I've gone several times has just been okay. A good date spot during the week. This part of town doesn't tend to get crowded on the weekends, however this spot is an exception because it's pretty quaint and small. But IMO the decor and lighting is some of the best in LA, and it's completely unexpected from the outside. If you can get a seat at the bar, that's kind of a nice change from the regular layouts you see around LA.

Nice local spot to pop in and grab a drink. They did karaoke the night I was there. There weren't too many people there so if you like to sing, you should go here because there isn't a wait and you can sing all you want. Drinks were good, vibe is chill.

Took my wife here on our first date - 7 years later and she still hasn't left me. Thanks Oldfields! They don't allow babies. So, we had to leave her in the car.

An intimate mainstay for a nice drink with friends or a Hinge date. It's a proper cocktail bar with a few beers on tap, decent bottle selection and a smattering of wine options. The decor is a throwback, classy and takes you away from the hustle and bustle of LA. During the week there are some jazz bands and a DJ on Sundays I think. If you are looking for something a little more casual, sister bar Bigfoot West a block down is probably more of your jam.

Looks like a shack outside, looks nice inside. The drinks are absolutely deplorable. We ordered two vodka tonics and they were by far the worst I have ever had in my adult life.

Love this place! They have a great happy hour and ambiance. They have events and live music that I'll be sure to check out in the future! Definitely a more chill bar.

Very Covid- safe and conscious even as we are crawling our way out of the pandemic . Comforting . They definitely check your ID and have an organized system for seating and all that . As for the drinks , I have had the blazing sandal a few times and yum yum yum . The inside is very cute , classic , old school . Don't miss the happy hour from 5-7 - otherwise the drinks are spendy !

Great spot for happy hour and dates. Finally got to try this spot out - bartender was friendly and QUICK - she made great cocktails very efficiently. Vibe is very cute with hanging plants. There's no food here but you can order food delivered here, and sometimes there's food trucks nearby. We just walked the two minutes down the street to Venice Noodle to grab some Thai food after a few drinks. Lives up to the hype for a good happy hour!

Great outdoor space. Wonderful wine selection. Awesome for large groups. With their big outdoor patio. And there's a guy who makes burgers just outside. Really fun HH spot.

Maybe it's because I've been on too many first dates here but I don't love Oldfield's. It's a neighborhood spot, but somehow everytime I've been, the vibe doesn't add up. Cocktails are just fine, not much invention to it. It's never been lively when I come (though you can imagine first dates are on weeknights). I HATE THE BOOTH, it's uncomfortably low, and already as a short woman, I feel like a child sitting next to a grown man in a chair. Ok, rant over. Not my place, I'm sorry Oldfield's.

This place is great! Cozy, great drinks, and nice bartenders. No, they don't serve food but there's some excellent places to grab a bite in the area.

Oldfield's on Venice Blvd. now hosts a really great Karaoke evening from 9 pm. every Tuesday. The karaoke host is Dina. The sound she mixes turns every singer into a rock star. This is the best sound you can get and I go to 3/4 different venues every week. Dina is not only beautiful in every way but tries hard to accommodate everyone who wants to sing while adhering closely to the rotation list. If you haven't experienced Oldfield's which itself is a friendly and atmospheric bar then you haven't lived. I rate it as my number 1 Karaoke venue. Join me every Tuesday. No I'm not on the payroll. It really is the best ~ Iain

Unassuming location but a cozy neighborhood spot with great classic cocktails and a great DJ on the weekends.

I visited for the first time on May 14th. My (the) server Robin was as lovely as a robin. The cocktail that I ordered was exceptional in presentation as well as concoction. Had I not been driving I could have imbibed several. This place has it down with a safe and comfortable vibe. All that and a bag of chips! Tip big or go home..

My bestie and I (Hannah), had an incredible night at Oldfield's. Robin was our bartender, the drinks were impeccable, the music was just right and the ambiance was romantic AF. Come here if you want to have fun or get laid after a first date. This is the way...

If you're black and looking for a bartending gig skip this place! They make terms that aren't even in a bartending class. The black people that work there are just the help!!! If you want a good time skip this place

I'm not sure why I haven't frequented this spot more often... they have a great happy hour. The lighting at Oldfields is also dark, very classy. This is a great date spot. Especially if you go on a Wednesday trivia night lol. You can have the back room all to yourself. I went during their happy hour. I tried the Outlaw. Honestly, it wasn't very strong. But I also don't drink as much as I used to, so I literally just had that one drink and also tried a bit of an Old-Fashioned. Usually I go to Big Foot which is next door, but I think Oldfields is much more appealing for the older crowds.

Came in there on a late night Saturday. It's an OK vibe with decent drinks. I wouldn't recommend there signature drinks but if you know what you like, they most likely have it.

Bigfoot West and Oldfields is inextricably linked in mind; I visited both of them for the first time on the same night, and they are a short walking distance from each other. I also subsequently learned that they are both part of the 1933 Group, which owns several establishments in the LA area. If Bigfoot West is more of the dive bar with a lodge-like interior, Oldfields is the more jazzy/upscale cousin that is going to talk your ear off about "The Great Gatsby" after a few drinks. Both bars have their merits, and I've enjoyed happy hour at each establishment. The cocktail selection on Oldfields' happy hour menu is a bit more complex when I compare it to Bigfoot West, but you can't go wrong checking out both given their proximity. The bartender during my recent Oldfields visit was friendly, and I will definitely be back again!

Cute little bar in Culver City! I've been here for happy hour a few times after work (goes until 7 during the week which is awesome). Feels kinda old timey inside which I love. Drinks are great and staff is super chill. They don't serve food but I hear there's a food truck that you can food from next door (burgers I think).

This is hands down my favorite cocktail bar on the west side. Staff is always super friendly, and their drinks are on point. Loved to see them open now, and offering outside seating. I'll see you guys soon again!

I'm pretty sure the bartender who was working when I visited was on opioids or something along those lines. Long story short, waited 30 mins in a not especially crowded bar to be served and then 15 more mins to realize she had made my drink but given it to someone else (one of her friends she was talking to). When I asked she didn't recall that I had ordered anything. I left after that.

OOF - This place has one of the worst service and overpriced drinks. It's also impossible to find parking so forget about going.

Drinks + Ambiance + Good Prices = An overall GREAT PLACE TO HANGOUT AND DRINK! $8 for some cocktails during Happy Hour. And where else can you get a Happy Hour everyday from 5-9pm? --RECAP-- Ordered a few different drinks here. Old fashioned. Prickly in pink. Quiet village. Blonde comet. And a couple others. It's a full bar so you can order anything you'd like, including beer and wine as well. --VERDICT-- These drinks are well-crafted. Not overly powerful, but absolutely not weak at all. The bartender was friendly, even though she was pretty slammed with a ton of ppl sitting at the counter. Came here on a random Wednesday evening, and the place was about almost full. That's a good sign - looks like ppl know where to go after they get off work. Again, you cannot beat the Happy Hour of 5-9pm. That's a steal. --FINAL THOUGHTS-- Parking lot is kinda strange, but you can park on the street. I'd expect this place to be packed on a given Friday night, especially with Happy Hour. Glad I have found this spot! I enjoy this place so much that I have been back for two weekends in a row. First visit was on a Sunday, right around the time they open (5PM). It was not busy, but there was plenty of people outside. Second visit was on a Saturday night, and we stayed till they closed. Tables inside and out were full, but it still did not feel busy. I personally like how it doesn't feel busy, because you can walk back to your table with two drinks and not spill anything, because you're not bumping into people. There's plenty of space and it does not have a crowded feel. The drinks are amazing, that I may have over ordered twice. Definitely love the decor! The music they play also matches the ambient.

Love love this place! From the drinks to the ambiance to the bartenders Oldfields has it all. they have the best happy hour everyday from 5 - 9 pm it doesn't get better than that! I love the vibe here and I never have issues finding a place to sit. Sometimes finding a parking spot can be hard, but if you time it right you can find a place. Or just uber/lyft. This is my go to place for hanging out with friends. And my go to drink is the Outlow, so yummy!

Great place to grab some drinks. Excellent service. Happy hour from 5 -9. The have a decent selection of bourbon and scotch. Parking is tight though, a wrap around small lot and street parking. Dim lighting and decent tunes playing, creating a divey atmosphere.

Anyone would be proud to have Oldfields as their neighborhood watering hole, and I can now join that group of folks. This place is much nicer than a dive bar; it's a throwback craft cocktail bar similar to the famous Polite Provisions back in San Diego but not as hipsterish (and not nearly as crowded!). What I love here: --The classic black and white tiling --The housemade ginger beer --Happy hour EVERY day including weekends until 9PM! Their normally $12 cocktails are only $5(!) and they have a few food specials. There are drinks like mules (no copper cups though, boo), amoxicillins, Hemingways, etc. --Philadelphia style housemade pretzels! It takes 10 minutes to get it and is really amazing and fresh. Only $5 during happy hour. If you want a hot dog in it, it's $7 during happy hour. --Great servers!

I will start with the good. The staff is wonderful and drinks are well made. Great atmosphere. Unfortunately I had to give this bar a less than five star review. The reason is that they do not allow Cigar smoking. They allow cigarettes but not cigars and I find that really odd. I am an avid cigar smoker and thought this was going to be my go to spot. I would like to encourage management to reconsider this decision and, hopefully, allow cigars in the near future.

Great place, great vibes, great drinks, and affordable. Close enough to downtown Culver that it makes for a good night cap after a delicious dinner. One of the best bars around!
