Gin House Barbeque

You have to try the ribeye sandwich! We have visited many times for both eat in and carry out. Burgers are good. The ribs are EXCELLENT!! The staff are all GREAT which makes the overall experience one we keep returning for time after time.

Stopped in late afternoon on a Saturday. The server Christy was quick to get our order and the food came out quickly. Everything was hot and excellent. Fried pork chops were moist and not dried out. Price was great. We need to eat here more often.

We love this little restaurant they have a friendly staff. Delicious food lunch plates; and wonderful menu for dinner. Come on over to Elkmont AL and visit the Gin House you want be disappointed!!?

The catfish, okra, and green beans were amazing! I only wish I hadn’t ordered the large because it is HUGE!!! I am so glad our host recommended Ole Gin House! This brought back memories of my childhood in the south and my aunt making fresh catfish! Don’t pass by, stop!!

The fish is cooked perfectly, the BBQ is perfect, and the baked potatoes are huge. The service is ok, a little slow, mostly because of the servers talking to neighbors that are patrons. They'll get to you, just be patient. You have to try it!

We ordered 120 wings for a small group. Ordered rhe day before, but they had them ready next morning right at the time they said. They were very good, everyone enjoyed them.

Great place to eat! I've been coming here my whole life. The food has always been great and my kids love it! Best stuffed potatoes around. They also have wings that are really good. The hush puppies are great too! Amazing bbq! And the best sweet tea you can get! I will always recommend Old Gin. It's not fast food, but it's good food and absolutely worth the wait! The staff are some of the sweetest people you could meet and I will continue giving them my business for years to come!

Great good, atmosphere, service and price!

Down home country food, very tasty and plenty of it. The place was a bit busy, but service was still good, helpful, and very friendly. No issues answering questions with ease and a smile. Kind of a neat ambiance in an old gin. Likely the old office building. Aged metal siding or roofing on the ceiling. Very nice. The wife and I had the BBQ ham, and shared sides of green beans, slaw, onion rings, and baked potato. Really good and very filling. Definitely a real treat for small town Elkmont.

Go to the Gin House 2-3 times a month. Food is very good, and the onion rings are the best I have found about any place. All the staff provide top notch service. I have had the burgers, BBQ, and the ribeye sandwich. All are priced fairly. And if they haven't sold out for the day, get a slice of the coconut cream pie.

Very good pulled pork BBQ, even better homemade pies for dessert. The service is always friendly and they are attentive to the customer needs. The ambiance is rustic country and clean.

Great food. Great service. Hometown restaurant supporting the local community. Great owners and great workers.

Reminded me of a old timey food place for a Very tasty excellent burger!! Love this place!

We love when Caitlyn waits on us she is the best waitress there is. Their burgers are great. The chicken wings are wonderful. I would highly recommend this place.

I've only had the lunch/dinner once and it was good. But I really like their breakfast, and I've gone there specifically for breakfast half a dozen times over the last couple months. I've tried a couple different things and they have always been excellent. And all the staff are polite and professional.

The drive-thru system is terrible. They allow vehicles to order at the window, and people that call orders in have to sit behind them while their food gets cold. Just ask the people that order at the window to wait in the parking lot and then pull around closer to when their order will be ready.

Meh. Not great. The only restaurant in Elkmont so they do not have to provide good food or good service. I am a local and am tired of trying to eat at this place and each time I try am told they have no tables (when there are many open) or that it will be a wait for food before even sitting down to order (???) or they are out of something. Is it too much to ask to have one restaurant that cares enough to get it together?

My go-to place when in town. The catfish always hits the spot and the employees are super nice and attentive. They recently renovated and it looks great! They have a room to the side for large groups too.

Good southern cooking. Good prices. Love the sweet potato fries and their vinegar slaw.

Went there for 3 years. Barely would have the order correct. Chicken wings tasted more like liquid hickory smoke was added than actually smoked (in a smoker). When going back to have the order corrected because 9 times out of 10 stuff was missing, the teenagers that you would talk to, did not care. Nor, did the manager. Finally, I gave up on that place. It's sad due to the fact that they are the closest food business to us. If they had one adult manager on the premises that cared it would make all the difference. I feel sad that the people that work there don't care they are ruining the reputation or if the business goes under. They just want their hourly wage and no responsibility to even get a food order correct, let alone cooked correctly.

This was a pretty good meal on a cold Saturday night. We had the fried pickles (so salty!) the bacon cheeseburger and the (one trip only) salad bar. The salad bar was tiny but great and the service was super fast. My boyfriend highly recommends the chocolate pie!

Been hearing how good this restaurant is so we decided to come check it out since it's so close to home. Sorry to say this place is an absolute joke. The salad bar is just 1 helping for $2.99 and 45 minutes after I finished my waste of $2.99 salad from the 1/2 stocked salad bar our dinner finally showed up. The dinner roll was tougher than the steak and it was the worst excuse for a ribeye I've ever seen! Oh well.

Love the fish filet basket ! I also love that they have a drive through for pickup. I love our little town of ELKMONT !

Had the catfish and fried pork chops and both were good. The fried pork chops were soooo tender but needed a little more seasoning. The catfish was perfect. The pies are homemade as well and the coconut was probably one of the best I've had. Portions are generous too! Definitely not a white table cloth kinda place but was clean which is important. The lightening was a little dark. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. I would go here again if I was in the area.

Seems to be a family run operation a little off the beaten path. I had some time to kill on the road so I thought I'd check it out. The ribs were ok, and the pork q a little above average. Four styles of sauce. All delicious. I personally fell in love w their homemade white sauce. The did have some of the best baked beans I've had and they know how to make slaw. If I lived nearby, I would make this place a habit.

This place is down the road from where I live and have had the displeasure of giving it too many chances to live up to expectations the bbq pork was awful tasted like dish water. Would not recommend eating here.

This place has the best smoked chicken halves we have ever eaten. You can taste the smoked flavor all through the chicken. It's all moist not dry. We have ordered food to go twice this week from here. It's really awesome. Even the sides items are great. The staff is very friendly & great atmosphere. We will definitely be eating from here again.

A friend at work recommended the place. But we didn't realize it was so far out of the way. But after finding it finally it was worth the drive. We got there about 2:30 and most of the lunch crowd was gone. Just kidding all of the lunch crowd was gone. It took quite a while to get our food. Probably because I ordered the smoked wings. They were worth the wait even though we didn't have the time. If I can find a quick way to get back I'll probably go back and have the wings again

I went through the drive through on my lunch break and ordered a cheeseburger and fries, was told to pull up and they'd bring it out to me. 30 minutes later still no food so I went in and there it was sitting on the counter, then they tried to ring it up and make me pay again. So I get in the car and the fries and burger were both cold. Called the manager and she said she could make me another one and I told her I was at work and didn't have 30 more minutes to wait for another one. Lost my business.

Great breakfast place. Lunch and dinner is ok. But the breakfast is terrific. The milkshakes are really good.

Awesome little place to grab a bite of good southern food. Building used to be a functioning cotton gin back in the day. I drop by at least once a week for lunch or dinner with the family. Catfish fillets, pulled ham(potatoes or the family bbq pack), cheesesteak sandwiches, bacon cheeseburgers, hushpuppies, and fried okra are our favorites. Homemade taste that doesn't cut corners for quality. Specials daily, and a viewable food bar inside. Lighting is a bit low, but there are plenty of windows. Amazing white sauce. Don't be afraid to ask for anything, they'll do their best to accommodate you! Dine-in or Drive-thru, service is timely for what you order. A++. Located less than 10 minutes west from I-65, definitely skip the fast food for this local favorite. Enjoy the drive through, or maybe even a pitstop at one of our shops in historic downtown Elkmont, but don't blink ;)

The cutest little bbq place - completely local fare with the sweetest staff. They have a drive thru window and offer a bagged lunch special, but we always go in to eat. Everyday they offer a different special. Everything is delicious and it's definitely great down home southern cooking. The fried pickles are delicious and they serve excellent pulled pork bbq with several choices of bbq sauces including a white sauce. The platters are huge and come with hush puppies or bread.

Cute little bbq place in a cute little town. We got the bbq pork and bbq chicken sandwhiches. They come with mayo, pickle and vinegar slaw, and surprisingly no sauce. But they were perfect without the sauce. The meat was moist and delicious. Paid about $3.00 for each and the staff was friendly. They have a drive through also.

This place is not but 10 minutes off of I65 and well worth the detour. We had bbq and catfish. Both were great, especially the bbq. The sides were pretty good, but avoid the steamed vegetables. I think they were frozen. But the beans and slaw were great. Service was a little sketchy.

Had some time to kill so I stopped here before a sales call in the area. Excellent catfish, some of the best I've ever had, sides were great too.

Stopped it the other day for a quick bite. Got the chicken plate dry inside burnt outside still kind of pricey. Most likely will not go back due to prices and quility of food
