Tucked away in Hong Kong's vibrant dining scene, Ole Spanish Restaurant is a delightful escape to the Iberian Peninsula. From the moment you step inside, the authentic decor, warm terracotta hues, rustic wood, and traditional ceramics, transports you straight to a cozy taberna in Barcelona. The ambiance is lively yet intimate, perfectly setting the stage for the culinary journey ahead.
The service matches the warmth of the surroundings. The staff are genuinely friendly, attentive, and happy to guide you through the menu, their enthusiasm for the food only heightening the anticipation.
And the food? Nothing short of spectacular.
The star of our evening was, without doubt, the Whole Lobster Paella. This was a masterpiece of flavour and theatre. The lobster was succulent and sweet, its essence deeply infused into the saffron-kissed rice. Every grain was packed with a rich, oceanic depth that was incredibly satisfying.
Equally impressive was the Lamb Shank. The meat was so tender it fell effortlessly from the bone, boasting a beautiful, slow-cooked savouriness. It was perfectly matched with a silky, buttery mashed potato that created a harmonious and comforting combination.
Our only regret was that our stomachs reached capacity all too soon. We gazed longingly at neighbouring tables, where plates of what looked like the Spanish Omelette and Grilled Octopus were being served. They remain tantalizing reasons for a swift return.
This restaurant is a genuine gem. It masterfully combines an authentic atmosphere, gracious service, and exceptional, flavour-driven cuisine. Just be sure to go with a very hungry group where you will have the capacity to try everything on the menu.
