Olema House Point Reyes

"Give us a quick overview. Just minutes away from the rugged shoreline of Point Reyes National Seashore is one of Northern California's treasures - a boutique hotel with peaceful, rustic-chic rooms nestled over a bubbling brook. What's the backstory? It all starts with the lobby, a soaring two-story space with pitched ceilings and a dramatic starburst chandelier. Natural materials like reclaimed wood and sea-blue design touches draw on Olema's inherent one-of-a-kind characteristics. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? There are only twenty-two rooms and two cabins on site, so it never feels overly busy here or loses its boutique charm. Entry level rooms come with generous picture windows overlooking the woods or the neighboring creek, providing a great sense of appreciation for the outdoors, even when you're in bed. Other design highlights include stone fireplaces, down comforters and pillows, and radiant heat warmed floors. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is free and fast. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Thanks to the proximity to Sonoma and Napa counties, food and drink are taken very seriously at Due West, the house restaurant. Pretty much everything comes from right near the hotel, including meats and dairy from Point Reyes ranches, produce from Bolinas farms, oysters from Tomales bay, and of course, a great range of California wines. Obviously the menu rotates with the seasons, but recurring favorites include the heirloom tomato panzanella, and the petrale Sole made with summer squash and brown butter Yukon potato mash. Even by California standards, the food here is fantastic. And the service? Expect to rely heavily on the staff here for their suggestions - they're happy to oblige. If it's outdoor adventure you're after, they can guide you to hiking trails that leave from the back door of the hotel, or suggest something more challenging along Point Reyes. If you're keen to soak up some local culture, ask the hotel staff to organize a a visit to any of the local artist studios or - because this is California, after all - crystal shops. There's so much to do here, and the best way to unlock it all is to enlist the hotel's knowledgeable staff to guide the way. What type of travelers will you find here? There's a sense of mystery to this part of California - you never know who you might bump into. Due to its location just one hour north of San Francisco, there are a number of tech industry folk who seek weekend respite here. It's also a pitstop for roadtrippers on their way up and down the California coast. There are earthy-crunchy types, flower power hippies and crystal-loving vegans. You know the drill. What about the neighborhood? How does the hotel fit in? The hotel is right on Route 1 just two miles from Point Reyes Station, an adorable town with a a cheese shop, a dive bar, a thrift shop, and not much else. Is there anything you'd change? It would be great if the hotel were set just a little bit further back from the street. It would feel less like a quirky motor lodge and more like the placid forest retreat it's trying to be. Any other hotel features worth noting? The hotel goes to lengths to really immerse itself in the local community. The front desk is a great resource if you're looking for the best vintage shop in the area, or the best place to ride a horse, or the best place to go for a meditation class. That's the good thing about being in California - everything is at your fingertips. Bottom line: Why are we choosing Olema House? It's a pricy take on the classic California motor lodge, but the hotel does a good job at providing comfortable rooms with a strong sense of place." - Todd Plummer

Olema House Point Reyes (Napa / Sonoma Valleys, California) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s harder than you might think to fully immerse yourself in nature anywhere near the megalopolis that is the San Francisco Bay Area, and those places where you can, like Marin County, do their best to keep the impact of tourism to a minimum. Point Reyes, for example, is less than two hours from San Francisco, and is surrounded by some truly wild landscapes and seascapes. But it’s got relatively little in the way of lodging — which means that the renovation of a 24-room lodge like Olema House is big news." - Tablet Hotels

I LOVED this place! The staff was amazing, such a cute boutique hotel, with a modern vibe and beautiful scenery. I loved the food at the tavern, and s'mores at night, and the red wine was good too! The hotel was very clean and updated and I stayed in the lakeside king terrace with the patio. The grounds on the hotel very clean and well lit at night. It is away from most things and the tavern closes at 8:30pm I believe and the market earlier, so a great place to wind down and relax and step away from the busy city life. I definitely will return and I can't wait to come back. Hopefully for a longer stay next time!

Our wedding at Olema House was everything I dreamed of. Our guests were blown away by the kindness of staff and the delicious wedding meal. From the moment we arrived at Olema House, my now-husband and I just knew we were in the very best hands. We will always cherish our time at Olema House and100% recommend it to any couple looking for their perfect wedding venue.

My spouse and I stayed at Olema House for 2 nights during the week recently. It was conveniently located and close to everywhere we wanted to go. All 3 front desk staff we ran across were kind, helpful, and incredibly friendly. The grounds were peaceful and well maintained while the rooms were unique and cozy. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you!

Google
Olema House is a well thought out boutique hotel accessing the Point Reyes National Park. It was thoughtfully designed with large rooms, high ceilings, jacuzzi tub, and plush bedding. A bottle of wine is included. They even surprised us with a bottle of champagne on ice with champagne glasses to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. ||||The grounds are lush and beautiful typical of the area and expansive enough to make you feel like you can roam around a little bit. The fire pit and the adirondaeck chairs are great for hanging out sipping wine. In the evening they even provide all the fixings for S'mores.||||The restaurant and store next door which are part of the property are great amenities. You can load up on supplies so when you're out in the remote parts of the park you can enjoy a beautiful picnic.

Google
Beautiful property and room, little touches like s'mores (which we unfortunately missed due to late night arrival) and a bottle of wine in our room were so nice. We arrived late at night, and Mel greeted us warmly and made us feel so welcome! Would definitely love to come back. We only had one night since we were passing through.

We had an amazing stay here. The grounds were beautiful with a nice space for guests to relax in the lounge and out by the fire pit. The restaurant was very good too.

Google
Delightful weekend getaway - we had the best time at Olema House! The room was very comfortable and is clearly well kept, the hotel grounds are peaceful and provide many great places to read or have a drink, and the staff at Olema were extremely kind. The location is also ideal - easy to get the nearby downtown as well as to drive up the coast of Tomales Bay to great restaurants along the water. We will be back!

The staff is exceptional— they go above and beyond to ensure a good experience. The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are so cozy and luxurious. Our entire wedding party had the most relaxing and enjoyable time. Will definitely stay again!

Yelp
Just had my wedding at Olema House and cant be happier with the whole experience. We toured over 30 venues and it hit all our boxes . The drinks (margarita was amazing!) throughout the whole weekend were great. One guest was very impressed with her Manhattan. The food and coordination of it all impressed all of our guests. Everything really went smoothly from our perspective. The ceremony was tucked away near the cottages that we rented and our cottage was in a perfect spot to get ready for the walk out. Our photographer had a great time shooting the scenic area and deer walking by the creek. We had BBQ for dinner and everyone loved the sides and entrees and were most impressed by the fried chicken. Shout out to the bread rolls too! Thank you Paulina and the Olema Team. People said it was the best wedding they ever been to. We will be forever grateful.

Yelp
The grounds are beautiful, the building is quaint, the amenities are limited, and the price is exorbitant. For $500, you're getting a studio room with no closets, no TV, and no microwave. This would be fine if you were in a beautiful, lush state park home to several hundred species of migratory and native birds. Sounds great, right? It sounds like a perfect place for a quiet getaway to connect with nature. Well, not if you're in room #4 and the property happens to have a wedding going on, which they didn't disclose to you. They claim they aren't able to know about the weddings because they don't book them, offering other such unsatisfactory blather. The wedding guests are within 10 yards of the door to my room. I'm currently using noise canceling headphones to drown them out! They are boisterous, loud, and obnoxious! As I explained to the front desk attendant, this is literally the opposite of what I came here for. Even if things were as expected, I find the accommodations overpriced. I don't mind spending on a room--I'm a Montage/Four Seasons kind of guy. Until this, I was planning to come back and bring my wife, but the lack of notice and consideration makes that a hard bridge to gap. They can't move me because they're fully booked; they couldn't warn me because ____? They haven't offered to adjust my rate or offer some other concession because ______? Caveat emptor, I suppose. Hence this warning to you, dear reader. Normally, I would post something like this on my own Instagram, but quite frankly, I'm too embarrassed. I feel like I was taken for a ride and I don't want to share that with my friends and family. So, if you're planning to stay here, be careful. Ask questions if you don't like surprise loud, cackling, uninvited guests right outside your room--maybe consider other accommodations. [Shrug Emoji].

Yelp
We're ALWAYS on the lookout for dog friendly properties to stay with the Corgs. First and foremost, there is a difference between properties that allow pets (Which we are definitely grateful for) and pet "friendly" properties. Olema House is definitely the latter (yes, pets are allowed). The staff was very accommodating, and the restaurant next door had a comfortable covered patio in the rear, which was great...especially given the inclement weather we experienced during our stay. There is a pet fee of $100 per stay. At least it's a per stay fee versus nightly fee. I find the latter to be a bit excessive tbh. As for the property itself... Pros: - Heated wooden floors, great for those chilly winter nights - Complimentary wine and bottled water in the mini bar (Believe it or not...I really dig this "perk" that more and more boutique experiences are offering) - The lavender spray for your pillows, also a nice touch Cons: - We stayed here on a promotional rate...but ordinarily the rate can be north of $500 per night, which for what's included...I'm not sure it'd be worth it for me - That marshmallow soft bedding. Granted this is a personal preference, but the excessively squishy mattress pad and pillows were a novelty when you first got into bed...but for firm mattress sleepers this took some getting used to

Yelp
25 years ago, we got married at Olema House (different ownership/different name at the time) and we have come back to visit roughly every 5 years since, so have a really good sense for how it has changed over time. We decided to book Olema House (again) for our 25th wedding anniversary weekend and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The venue has been greatly upgraded since we were married there, and the grounds are immaculate and covered in flowers. We stayed in the Creekside Cottage, while our guests stayed in the rest of the rooms. Gorgeous! And very private but with a lovely outdoor area for gathering. inside or out. We had two dinners catered by Due West Tavern and everyone raved about the quality of the food. The service staff was exceptional -- efficient, kind, responsive, and able to pivot immediately when we requested changes. There was not a guest there who wasn't thrilled with the whole weekend experience. For us, coordinating with the events team (Paulina, Dan, Rebecca) and the front desk staff was a dream. I left many decisions in their hands and the guidance they provided was spot on. Although we didn't bring our pugs for the weekend, my brother brought his dog and we loved how accommodating they were. They gave us a lovely gift for our anniversary, including two scarves that our pugs just love (see photos!) It truly was a special weekend in a very special place. Just a note on some of the poor reviews. Yes, it is pricey, but it is also beautifully appointed, immaculate, and has top tier service. If you have an issue, they will fix it. This is not a place you should go if you want to park yourself in front of a TV. This is a place to enjoy the beauty of the Point Reyes surroundings, cuddle in front of the fire, be spoiled by the staff, and soak in the relaxed atmosphere.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at Olema house on my birthday weekend trip to Point Reyes area. I wish there was more to do in the area that we could have stayed for one more night. Do note that it's quite on the pricier side - but the grounds, room, bedding, jacuzzi, decor and the attention to details justify that. The grounds are well maintained lush green and there is a small creek running by. It's pretty nice to relax and lounge around on the swings and play corn hole. They knew it was my birthday and had kept a birthday card with a bag of artisanal caramel popcorn in the room which tasted sooo good! There is a tavern attached next door where we had a dinner reservation. Food was decent and the quality was good. Overall a very nice comfortable and luxurious stay.

Yelp
Our stay was fabulous!! Kyle went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was perfect. Everything was clean and well designed, top of the line. I recommend staying here 1000%!

Yelp
My partner and I decided to celebrate Valentines Day after the real day, in this lovely place. It was an amazing experience and it made for the most romantic of celebrations because of the sparseness of this eclectic hotel. He was there for a work situation, and gifted a room after. When we first saw this place, we wanted to stay. It's very peaceful, modern and charming. When we got there, we went to the market store and got sandwiches. Things are a bit pricier in Point Reyes because of the remoteness, but I'd never had a turkey sandwich and a tuna sandwich tasted so good! We sat in the back on the patio in the sun, and enjoyed a conversation with each other. Neither of us were holding our phones, or ignoring each other! We were in a huge bed (which was actually 2 separate beds together) and it was very comfortable. There is no tv in the room, and no closet. The bathroom is built for 2 with dual shower heads. There is a speaker, where you could attach a phone and play some music. There is also a refrigerator and a tea kettle. One extra special thing was the heated floor. When evening came, we brought a card game to play and had a blast laughing and talking with each other. There were games downstairs, in a room with books and a fireplace. The place had well lit walking paths, Adirondack's all around with pillows and blankets, and small fire pits to add to the ambiance. The resort fee includes a lovely bottle of wine and some snacks, coffee and tea, both in the room and in the lounge area, so you could have your wine anywhere. I enjoyed some hot tea on one of the chairs, just looking at the brook in the back. The only opportunity I found was wanting a luggage stand, which could have been placed in the corner, next to the table, or folded up under the robes on the hooks (where one would hang their coats). My luggage got extremely warm on the heated floor. I hope to get the chance to return to this lovely place.

Yelp
Glorious retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area. Love the charming, rustic-chic decor of the rooms and the special touches that the hotel offers to make the stay extra special eg- welcome bottle of wine, dog beds/treats etc. Every representative of the hotel is kind, welcoming and goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Due West, the restaurant on site, is fabulous and we love being able to walk to dinner without worrying about driving. The menu is seasonal and rotates. Make sure to try the cioppino if it's being offered. Delicious. There is also a wonderful market on site with lovely grab-and-go breakfast/lunch fare that is perfect for picnics. They also have a full coffee bar and an extensive selection of beer, wine and canned cocktails to enjoy in your room or at the many outdoor seating areas sprinkled around the property.

Yelp
The bed was miserable. Bed had a 4 inch topper so your hips sink down and contort your spine. Pillows were awful and are the kind that squish completely flat. After hours of discomfort, I just slept on the floor. Also a bit deceived by the pictures online. "King Terrace" shows a nice room with a large open bathroom. Description even says "large vanity". But our bathroom was so small you couldn't fit two people in there. Staff was really nice though and they offered us to change rooms. However, in my opinion, a comfortable bed is #1 priority for any hotel.

Yelp
We had a large family event in their Creekside Cabin that was absolutely wonderful. Great space and a beautiful location.

Yelp
We celebrated my 35th birthday weekend with Olema House and it was fantastic. I can't understand why the reviews here are so poor. Our room was wonderful, newly renovated, CLEAN, and so comfortable. We slept wonderfully. It had AC that was running when we arrived. Black out shades on all windows. Your room price includes a bottle of wine, coffee, etc and they have a complimentary coffee station in the mornings. We didn't get a chance to try their restaurant but their little store was wonderful. So many options. We also went up the road and had a private riding lesson (lovely) and tried out the beaches. Truly magical space. Our room also had a little balcony which was rich.

Yelp
I actually enjoyed my stay here, as a photographer they were many opportunities to make some beautiful photographs. The room was comfortable. Stayed in room three, which was on the lower level facing the creek.

Sam I.

Yelp
This updated country house inn was a great place to base ourselves on a long weekend trip to the area. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the lobby common areas were cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly (well, except for the afternoon check-in lady, who wasn't the most warm, welcoming person--but everyone else was great!) the outside grounds were beautiful, with a really nice patio area by a small river. Will definitely stay here again!
google avatar

Aaron G.

Yelp
I can't say it enough, the staff was polite and courteous. Overall, the service was exceptional. The room was spacious, modern and beautiful. The grounds for well-kept. One of the best dog friendly hotels I've been to!
google avatar

Kelsey A.

Yelp
I'm very confused why this hotel room was $480/night (all fees included). This price also included a resort fee... I'm sorry, what resort amenities did this include? No gym, spa, fire pit, bikes. Booked a king room. There's a window over the door and no way to block out light. The attached photo was taken at night and the outside lights were so bright it looked like daytime. They included a complimentary bottle of wine and granola in the room, and coffee and tea in the common room. Tempted to rate it lower solely due to poor value. This hotel should be half the price - max.

sheri d.

Yelp
A beautiful property with fab decor. Our room had a big jet spa tub which was great. Loved the natural lighting that came in the windows of the doors. There is no AC and the room was 78 degrees since the room faced west. That's pretty warm, and it was March still.

Nate H.

Yelp
Incredible experience! I came here as a kid and have always loved it. I came here as a kid from Berkeley and prize this area so much. But the hotel is much lore than I could have imagined. The room greets you with such warmth and the sun pours into the floor. The service is inseparable here and try the Due West restaurant. The chef is amazing! This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in in my lifetime. Charm, beauty, tranquility, and classy service. You ca5 beat it!!!!

Amber T.

Yelp
Horrible stay at Olema House during one of the hottest days in SF Beware that there is No AC in some of their rooms ! There is no description about having no AC on the booking page, only realized that when we arrived in a day with 100 degrees. Inside is like an oven, could not even sleep at night with all the fans on and windows open. Loft style room with bed on the upper level made it even worse. Room is tiny, bathroom has single vanity and shower only. There is limited on site parking shared with their restaurant, which was full at the time when we checked in. No free breakfast included in the $550 per night charge is very unusual for a B&B. Will never return !

William P.

Yelp
This place is awesome if you are wanting to disconnect from the world and relax the staff here are amazing I was looking for a place to stay for a weekend retreat after proposing to my fiancé and Jacquie was so was so amazing she showed me rooms that were vacant and gave me a tour of the hotel she was very informative and helpful in making sure everything was awesome and and ready for our arrival I just can't say enough good about this place the rooms are beautiful and so cozy I would highly recommend anyone to stay there the restaurant and market are both awesome there too the restaurant works hand and hand with each other Jacquie made sure to set up the reservation at the restaurant and they had a celebration drink ready for us at dinner best weekend i ever had and my fiancé loved it too

Hazel W.

Yelp
The room was subpar the bathroom hardly has room to stand! The fan was not working and it was terribly hot! They tell you to schedule housekeeping when you go they still arrive at their own time! The housekeeping is non existent they say they clean the room but don't replace the so called complementary water don't vacuum don't even replace coffee in the room! The toilet was not even cleaned once the housekeeping had cleaned the room! Don't even wanna provide you with shampoo and soap or bath robes! They are just a terrible place to stay the wifi keeps getting disconnected. The beds skin and are so uncomfortable to sleep in! Find another option if you have it anything is better than this!
google avatar

Yelp
I have never been so disappointed in a "luxury" hotel. There is NOTHING luxurious about this Inn. The place is dated and needs a facelift. The room is awkward, small and not comfortable. The bathroom was so small complete with moldy soap dish. For what this hotel charges $599+ a night unacceptable. To top off our luxurious stay we woke to rain coming into the room and additional rain about to bust through the ceiling. The initial response of the hotel was to give us a $250 credit, they seriously offered that. We of course did not find that acceptable. They credited us one night, they should credited the entire stay!
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
Andrea was incredibly accommodating, upbeat, kind, thoughtful- all the stuff we love! Especially appreciated the attention to covid sanitizing/cleanliness and pet friendliness! Love that we can bring our pup with us!! As for the hotel, the grounds are so pretty! Lots of green foliage and trees, fire pits, creek and places to sit and enjoy. We booked the Casa Olema Cottage our first visit- so lovely. The back patio table was our favorite place to relax. Also, it has its own parking area! Highly recommend the cottage. For our stay coming up, we're staying in a Mountain View King room. Excited to see what that's like! Note their restaurant Due West had incredible food over Thanksgiving! Looking forward to dinner there again in the coming days. If you're looking for other options, our favorite restaurant Salt Water Oyster Depot is just in Inverness and also pet friendly! :)

Marc S.

Yelp
Nice location, beautiful backyard, great view from the bedroom so I reward 2 stars. BUT, no AC, I don't want to be there in summer. Window catches the full SW sun all afternoon. Even late november the room was hot at 4pm. Floor heating that didn't work during my stay, the night was cold. There were 2 fan powered electrical heaters in the corner. Nothing was said about that though when they showed me the room. The little window next to the door had no curtain. With the outside light next to it the room remained light during the night! Water heater available but no coffee, only tea. They charge you $25 Resort Fee but there is nothing to justify that. No gym, no spa, no swimming pool. No breakfast service either. The market place next door was the only alternative when you don't want to drive. They had only a very limited selection. Conclusion: not worth the price they charge you.

Yelp
We stayed there August 2nd, departing on the 3rd. A must delight is to take time to chat with Rebecca, there until 11PM. She checked us in, accompanied us to our room and invited us to ask for any assistance. We asked for history. She knows the history of the House as well as the area. An unexpected story included Jesse Collin Young's song Elephant Mountain. Her love of the House and area energizes an exuberant and warm spirit. I had to wonder if she is an owner. Thanks to all staff, especially Rebecca. Room tiny, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Honored my requests related to my allergies and provided a microwave we requested. Since we spent few hours in the room, came there to be outdoors, it was perfect for our needs for comfort. Our room opened to a small deck and onto a most expansive and beautiful garden The large garden was well occupied by guests sitting in pairs and a small group of 4. Beautiful and peaceful. We chose the swing relaxing outdoor before dinner. Before leaving we had a quiet lunch in the garden. See my Yelp of the adjoining restaurant Due West. Another great experience. We loved our time hiking many comfortable and long hikes for our 70+ year old selves. That is yet another review of help from Ranger MaryBeth.

Yelp
Our Olema House experience has been fantastic. We came for a weekend getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was greeted with glass of wine at check-in (I believe everyone gets one) as well as a bottle of wine in our room. While the building is close to the road, the back green is quiet and tranquil, a perfect place to enjoy that glass of rose from check-in! We chatted with Rachel prior to booking, for recommendations on our room, as well as dinner options. She was very helpful with both and we're happy with how it all turned out. Room was cozy and comfortable. I saw another review saying there was no tv, but honestly, I didn't book a getaway to watch tv, so it was no problem. All in all the wife was happy, so I'm happy!

Yelp
Simply put....This place is magical! Very elegant and intimate. The views are amazing. You can get a great view pretty much from every room. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We got married at Chimney Rock at Point Reyes Seashore and Olema House made this experience a wonderful one to remember. They personalized everything for us and accommodated all of our requests! The Manager even cut our wedding cake for us. We highly recommend this place for an initiate wedding...it's beautiful and not to mention Duo West had the most delicious menu. Everything was so good, not to salty and not to dry. I wish I can go back. The drive there is about 40 minutes north of SF but the views throughout the whole drive is incredible.

Tiffani S.

Yelp
We just finished an 11 day road trip and myself and my entire family said out of all the wonderful places, the Olema House and their entire staff was our favorite. The rooms and cottages are so quaint and charming. The staff was so welcoming and warm. We will ONLY stay here when we come back to Point Reyes and trust me... we will come back! Asap!

Yelp
What a fabulous experience! The rooms decor was very cool, the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff took very good care of the guests. If in the area again this would my place to stay.

Yelp
I recently found out that this place had changed ownership. We had stayed in the Creekside Cottage in 2010 and 2016 when it was the Point Reyes Seashore Lodge. I believed that our 2016 visit was going to be our last one, because the place was in great need of some TLC and updating. When I heard it had changed ownership and saw that it was redone AND accepted dogs, I was more than thrilled to return. The Good: They now accept dogs! A big hooray for us dog owners. When asking about the pet policy at check in, we were only told that we needed to keep our dog on a leash when on the grounds. The Creekside Cottage is beautifully redone inside. The update was greatly needed. There's a king size bed and two sofa beds in the cottage. A really nice fridge and stove in the kitchen. Games/puzzles and a pretty big selection of books to read from. Unlike our previous visits, the cottage also has cable TV and free WiFi. Cottage has both heating and air conditioning. There is a BBQ outside and Edison string lights strewn about the front of the cottage. The Creekside Cottage is by...you guessed it...a creek. It is wonderful to sit out on the deck and watch the view. The next morning we were even able to watch a couple of deer drinking from the creek. There is a lot of seating outside to just lounge about. There's also a small table and chairs in the back of the cottage to eat at and a picnic table and bench at the front of the cottage. The Bad: It's $75 more to add the dog package so you can bring Fido. It's called A Dog's Life package and described as "Accommodation in one of our dog-friendly rooms, Dog bed and food & water bowls in-room, Delicious doggy treat, 10% discount on offerings from all-new Dog Menu at our restaurant, Due West". The fee is on the higher side, but not unheard of. We received a dog bed small enough for a chihuahua. Our standard poodle was able to use it for a pillow. When checking in they told us they'd bring us a larger bed, but that never happened. We also received some milk bones and one dog bowl we interchangeably used for his food and water. I think it would be a good idea to also provide dog bags and disposal areas outside on the grounds. We brought our own bags, but as we walked along the grounds by the lodge area, we found that other dogs had left "presents" around. The landscaping doesn't appear to be maintained well as it used to be. I was definitely surprised by this. It was so breathtaking around the lodge before. It is pretty now, but more of a natural wild look vs. the manicured grounds it used to be. The cottage no longer has a working gas fireplace and the jacuzzi they used to have is now gone. Although the kitchen was nicely done, it was not stocked. Meaning that there were only three dishes and one wooden spoon in the entire kitchen. There were no eating utensils. No pots nor pans. So if you are thinking of doing some cooking in the kitchen, you might want to contact them ahead of time and make sure the kitchen has things you can actually use to cook or eat with. There were speakers inside the cottage and on the patio. I'm not sure if there is a way to use them. It would've been nice to have a flyer or something with directions so we could play music, but perhaps they do not work. A large visible gap under the door by the TV. It's large enough to fit my thumb under. If you love spiders, you're in for a treat, because they were everywhere lol. 4 camping out in the area with the fireplace, 3 by the TV, and 4 in the bedroom. In the lodge, there was a trail of ants parading in front of the coffee and tea pots. The Ugly: The cottage has mice or rats. No, I did not see them, but their loud and persistent scratching in the walls did keep me up most of the night. Be sure to keep all food in the fridge. I made sure not to leave anything out. I may be a rat in the Chinese zodiac, but it doesn't mean I want to sleep with them hanging out in my walls or scurrying about.

Yelp
An ethereal and quirky lodge in a lush landscape. It's like a hotel from a British sitcom. A vulture on a tall tall dead tree loomed over the grounds at Halloween as a rush of racing Ferraris drove down the road. A deer munched under an ancient redwood tree in back. The staff is beautifully kind, though on cue one was stung by bee as we checked in. Dogs are welcome. There are no TV's or magnetic key cards. Real keys and ceiling fans and Adirondack chairs on slopped rolling lawns. Great bakery items here and down the road. Sea air. The bluffs are not too far a drive. Fireplaces and great WiFi. Elegantly understated and designed. A good vortex in a panicked world of the lost paradise of California.

Yelp
Over priced, no elevator, room has no closet, a resort fee charge, but no amenities unless they ccount the stairs you need to climb as exercise. The toilet and sink are not in the same room. There is no place to sit excepT the bed. Unless you are on a honeymoon or want a clean but spartan environment I would look for another place

Yelp
My husband and I and our pooch stayed one night for a quick get away from San Francisco. Disappointed!! Best parts: 1)location right outside National Seashore 2) grounds with beautiful well maintained gardens. Inferior parts: 1)cost was high, value low, especially with added "resort Fee" of $25 for nothing but an unwanted bottle of wine and one of sparkling water?) and pet fee of $75! For tiny dog bed fit for a Chihuahua (we have an Irish Setter) and two small stainless steel bowls, 2) room was tiny and most offensive had no chairs to sit in!! No redeeming features. 3)The small dark porch was not appealing.

Yelp
BEWARE! There's around $100+ hidden fees on top of your room charge that they don't tell you about.

Yelp
Wow- beautiful grounds, lovely room, exquisite service and delicious food/drinks right next door. This is certainly a splurge but we'll worth it for a special occasion or just some peaceful time.

Yelp
Such a charming place! The owner....not so much. Such a shame because this place is so charming, especially the backyard. Games, rolling green grass, a creek running through, tables and chairs to enjoy the beauty. A shame because the owner's toxic energy really puts a damper in the whole experience. The wonderful young lady working the front desk tried her best to compensate but the owner hovered over her and involved himself in all matters and you could see it made her uncomfortable to the point of being fearful. I'm honestly surprised the place has survived this long with such an unapproachable owner.

Yelp
Olema House is a boutique hotel in Olema, CA on four acres along a creek in the Pt. Reyes area. We were impressed from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by the front desk clerk Jackie who immediately made us feel welcomed and at home. The hotel has a game room, a sitting room/ TV/coffee room where guests can get tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The views to the creek are delightful. The on-site restaurant is fabulous; the food is as good or better than you'd find in an upscale restaurant in Napa Valley. Our room had a big bay window overlooking the creek with a comfy reading/relaxing nook area; the cushion in the nook was very large and inviting. It is a perfect location to use as home base as you explore the Pt. Reyes National Seashore and surrounding areas. All of the staff are outstanding. After meeting the manager of the hotel and property, we can see why. He was an amazing young man. There are two cottages available on the property as well. This would be a perfect location for a special event (think wedding). We cannot wait to return!!

Yelp
This place is majestic!!! Our suite is two stories, with plenty of room. The window seat/bed is amazing. The outdoor area is great for picnics. Fireplace in our room with unlimited firewood. If you're coming to Point Reyes, do it right and stay here. Great service, and great amenities.

Yelp
The customer service here is great! 1) my hubby left his North Face jacket there and Norma facilitated the return for FREE 2) since it as raining, we ended up shortening our stay by one night and the manager understood & let us cancel with a MINIMAL fee. We will definitely go back there during better weather.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Olema House. Took a beautiful hike through the elk preserve in point Reyes, had an amazing lunch in town, then retired to our cozy and comfortable room to soak in the jacuzzi tub, drink some wine and have a very comfortable nights rest. In the morning we enjoyed our coffee while watching a pileated woodpecker flying over the creek! Perfect stay.

Yelp
To keep it light or keep it dark is an eternal question at Olema House. When I arrived, the manager walked behind me and opened the door to a pitch-black room. After a five-foot entrance, two stairs dropped to the bedroom area. ("Oh! Be careful!" said the manager, when he heard me stumble in the dark.) One window faced a strong electric light and had a blind that wouldn't come down. In the spirit of balance, a light beside the bed went out after five minutes of blinking. (The manager had gone home, so I couldn't get another bulb.) The bathroom was on either side of the entrance--a cramped water-closet and a shower-sink the size of a high-school locker. The shower was encased in glass on two sides and one side faced the bedroom, emanating ghostly light from behind slatted blinds. I mentioned the broken curtain and sad lamp when I checked out, and wasn't surprised at no reaction because they must hear this all the time. A great place to stay if you want to meditate on the impermanence of comfort but cheaper to stay in your car--there was a huge service fee not quoted on the phone.

Yelp
We stayed here a night last month. It was absolutely gorgeous. Completely re-done. The room was top quality, with a very interesting layout. There is a fantastic tub. Patio that leads out to the garden, which is well-kept and absolutely gorgeous with a river at the back. Breakfast was so well done with smoked salmon and good cheese and all kinds of things. It was a night of pure romance and pure pleasure that I will never forget.

Yelp
Very disappointed with our visit. Not sure why this establishment was voted one of the best places to stay in California. Lovely property but very rustic grounds. Reserved a fireplace room, not told the fireplaces are no longer working. Stayed an extra night and moved to another room with a very small patio but there was not a TV in the room. Not told about that. Rooms are expensive. No room service. Hostess staff at the restaurant were clueless. Paying for 5 star but getting 1. Do not recommend for the price $$500/ night for one room. Better to rent a house. Was really looking forward to staying here but will not be back.

Yelp
We were married here 20 years ago. We have been back every year, sometimes twice in a year. Since it changed hands the prices have literally doubled!! $700+ per night in their cottages. We had many wonderful stays here, and I'm sad not to be going back. But there's no way with those prices.

Yelp
Beautifull place. Stayed here for my birthday. They have a lovelyy backyard, it's huge. It is filled withh Apple trees, hammock places to sit and a creek. You can hop the creek and go exploring behind it too. The room was cute too. They serve a standard continental breakfast. They were accommodating to my dog and toddler, bonus! I have always lloves the Point Reyes seashore,, and this place is yet another reason to like it.

Yelp
We stayed at Olema House for 2 nights in May 2021. The staff ignored us and there were no housekeeping services. The room was tiny and expensive ($400 plus "resort fee" and tax) and there was no breakfast available. The garden in the back is the saving grace--beautiful!

Yelp
We are staying in their one bedroom cottage (carriage) by the creek. Location is great quiet and private. Cozy and cute. Dog set up with bed and bowls is nice but expensive at $75 per fee. Wish they would tell us the house is sloped at a 5% incline (feels like a ship tilted in water). Has kitchen and bathroom. Feels pricey for what the actual quality of the bathroom and kitchen is ( a little rundown). Maybe come if there is a good discount and you don't mind the 5% slope. Also the living room was ok for the kids to sleep in (old house) and dishwasher detergent not provided. At the price point we paid, should have had at least paper towels and dishwasher detergent. Local vrbos are cheaper. Without breakfast or anything with the hotel amenities (eg a pool or hot tub, room service), you are better off either staying at a real resort or a vrbo but this cottage is somewhere in the middle while charging resort prices. There are not enough pillows or blankets for the two sofa beds and had to use the ones from master. Not sure I would recommend coming back - especially at the price we paid. For this specific unit, you're better off looking at VRBO or Airbnb for better value and space.

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights as a celebration of my MA oral defense. The room I had was the Fireplace King with tub and balcony. Everything was lovely. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, especially the cheeses and fresh fruit. The grounds were well kept and peaceful. Easy walk to trails, specifically the Bear Valley Trails. The restaurant Farm House is delicious, though not many vegetarian options. Please note that if you come via taxi/Uber/Lyft, they won't pick you up to return. You have to order from a taxi service which is 130$ and up to get to SF or Oakland. One suggestion regarding the last point: it would be nice if the hotel itself had a car or van, or an accord with a local taxi service, to take passengers to the bus stop. It is under a mile from the hotel, but if you're leaving, it is not easy to get there with luggage.

Yelp
My husband, dog and I stayed there last night. We were in the oh so comfortable Casa Olema cottage. Lovely bed, plenty of room for the puppy and a real turntable with some vintage 33's to play! Good WiFi connection. Great shower. Loved the goat milk cleansing bar, aka soap. We had drinks and dinner with friends at Due West, the fun restaurant belonging to the property. Beer on tap list was awesome; lots of nice wines by the glass. We all had the steak/frites with the blue cheese fries....what a cool combo. This was after we had the sublime oysters and grilled artichoke. It was a terrific dinner! The complimentary continental breakfast is quite substantial...smoked salmon, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, bread, bagels, etc. Very European, actually. Anyway, we can't wait to have a return visit. Linda G.

Yelp
Central location to great hikes and this beautiful area. Very comfortable, clean, mindful and renovated modern rooms with a nice simple breakfast. We stayed in a garden level room on the lower level which was very lovely and faced along a creek. There was no closet for hanging clothes -- well, no closet at all but a dresser. The room was very nicely decorated and had a refrigerator. Very simple and the room served us well as we were out all day hiking and such. Breakfast was included in the rate and included a buffet of lox, granola (vegetarian), Clover plain yogurt, bread/bagel, vegetables, fresh fruits, hard boiled eggs. Homemade chocolate cookies, coffee, tea, oatmeal, hot chocolate also available in the common area. The wonderful Due West Restaurant is next door and I would highly recommended eating there for dinner. I would definitely come here again! Thank you, Olen House, for all your hospitality!

Yelp
We stayed here 25 years ago and so had sentimental reasons to revisit the area. The place is clean but very dated. Maybe today you could even say retro. The weather cooperated and the ocean was restorative. If you have low expectations you will love your stay. The breakfast is good quality, continental. The room was small, dark, and the shower ridiculous. The food at the adjacent restaurant is very good and the atmosphere welcoming. Kind of peaceful overall.
