Yelp
The grounds are beautiful, the building is quaint, the amenities are limited, and the price is exorbitant.
For $500, you're getting a studio room with no closets, no TV, and no microwave. This would be fine if you were in a beautiful, lush state park home to several hundred species of migratory and native birds. Sounds great, right?
It sounds like a perfect place for a quiet getaway to connect with nature. Well, not if you're in room #4 and the property happens to have a wedding going on, which they didn't disclose to you. They claim they aren't able to know about the weddings because they don't book them, offering other such unsatisfactory blather.
The wedding guests are within 10 yards of the door to my room. I'm currently using noise canceling headphones to drown them out! They are boisterous, loud, and obnoxious! As I explained to the front desk attendant, this is literally the opposite of what I came here for. Even if things were as expected, I find the accommodations overpriced. I don't mind spending on a room--I'm a Montage/Four Seasons kind of guy. Until this, I was planning to come back and bring my wife, but the lack of notice and consideration makes that a hard bridge to gap.
They can't move me because they're fully booked; they couldn't warn me because ____? They haven't offered to adjust my rate or offer some other concession because ______?
Caveat emptor, I suppose. Hence this warning to you, dear reader.
Normally, I would post something like this on my own Instagram, but quite frankly, I'm too embarrassed. I feel like I was taken for a ride and I don't want to share that with my friends and family.
So, if you're planning to stay here, be careful. Ask questions if you don't like surprise loud, cackling, uninvited guests right outside your room--maybe consider other accommodations.
