"This Maasai group ranch in Kenya serves as a patrol area where an eight-member female community ranger unit, supported by an international animal welfare organization, conducts anti-poaching work and has helped transform members' lives. The women — many of whom moved from traditional household roles into paid ranger positions — now earn incomes that have funded home improvements and enabled them to mentor girls in their villages.
