Perfect location close to the center. Easy to get to places. The staff is ready to help at all times. The rooms are clean. I did enjoy my stay but I would suggest adding a little more to the breakfast maybe some eggs fruits and pastries? Because jam, bread and instant coffee is a bit of a poor breakfast. Other than that would recommend to anyone who comes to Bari to stay here.

Avoid at all costs. I had a disappointing and frustrating experience with Olive Tree Hostel that I feel compelled to share with future travelers. This hostel operates with questionable cancellation policies and poor customer communication, which led to unexpected charges and a lack of accountability. First, the hostel claimed they had “no record” of my timely cancellation call, despite the fact that I followed the procedure well in advance. When I reached out to confirm my cancellation, they assured me the booking was canceled—only to later deny our conversation and charge me in full for my stay. Their cancellation policy is also misleading. Although I canceled within the window for part of my booking, they still charged me for the entire stay, including nights that should have fallen within the refundable period. This means that unless you cancel every single night, you’ll be charged, even if you’re well within the stated cancellation terms. Their policy effectively penalizes guests for booking consecutive nights—a sneaky loophole that makes refunds nearly impossible. Furthermore, the information they provided over the phone and in emails was contradictory. Initially, they claimed that my deposit went to Hostelworld and not to them, only to later state that it was part of their policy. This inconsistency made it clear they were unwilling to communicate transparently or fairly resolve the issue. Overall, Olive Tree Hostel’s approach feels both sneaky and dishonest. If you’re considering staying here, I’d advise you to look elsewhere. With their unfair policies, lack of accountability, and conflicting information, it’s not worth the risk of unexpected charges. Avoid this hostel at all costs to save yourself the hassle and frustration I experienced.

I really enjoyed my one night stay here. The location is great, 5 mins from the station and 15 mins from the old town. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bathrooms are also clean and there are 3 showers which for me was enough for the size of the hostel. The terrace is also lovely and staff very friendly. I had some work calls before check in and after check out time and i could comfortably use the common area. 50 eur per night in a dorm is really still a lot of money, but it is also true that being last minute i could not find much else in Bari.

I stayed here for three nights in the 10 bed dorm and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. David and the staff were lovely and it had a cosy, welcoming feel with everything that you need. While simple, all the facilities were great and the social atmosphere during my stay was amazing -it was easy to make friends, everyone was respectful but it was not a party type hostel. Would highly recommend !

Great hostel to stay in!! Very helpful staff with a lot of knowledge and advice on what to do and where to go. Lovely facilities with a great outdoor terrace. Lockers for any valuables in every room, and breakfast included who is always a bonus!! A special thanks to Ellie who helped fix my friends phone :)

The best place to stay in Bari !! <3 Hostel has very friendly, positive vibe and workers are always helpful and kind. Amazing terrace area inside the hostel and two balconies as well on the site. Breakfast is included with the price, what is very convenient. Hostel is very close to the old town (10-15 min by walk) and just 5 minutes away from bus and train station, if you have a plan to take a trip around Puglia. In my opinion it is MUST HAVE to visit Polignano a mare, Monopoly, Matera and Alberobello. I can really recommend Olive Tree Hostel ! 10/10 <3

The Olive Tree is an affordable hostel that is perfectly fine to stay at. The location is good, close to the train station and 10 minutes walk from the old town. The staff is varying degrees of helpful. I arrived in the morning to drop off my bags and had to wait till the afternoon to check in. The girl that showed me the map in the morning basically just drew a line to show me where the old town was, which was not really useful. Later when I came back to check in a different woman was there and she went over the map with me again with great detail and all kinds of suggestions and ideas. Overall the hostel was clean. At times a bit dirty but that's the fault of other travelers not having manners and not really the hostel's fault. They had lockers with locks and keys provided for free. As other reviewers mention, the doors to the individual rooms do not lock. This is the first time I've ever encountered this in a hostel. There are 3 bathrooms/showers (individual, meaning only one person can use each one at a time) for the whole hostel so mornings might get competitive. I recommend showering in the afternoon or evening. Overall a nice stay and I'd come back again.
