Oliver Twist

We had a really nice evening at the Oliver Twist Pub! The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. Perfect for winding down the day with a cold beer. The service was attentive, friendly, and quick, which made the experience even better. We shared a portion of nachos, which was more than enough for two people and tasted great. Freshly prepared with plenty of topping, just what you’d want with a drink. All in all, a great night at a charming pub, we’ll definitely be back!

The pub was probably fully reserved from 18:30, but as we arrived around 16, we had plenty of seating options. So quite happy about this. As for the burger, then it was good. Very natural tasting cutlet with minimal or no salt and pepper, but with crisp fried cheese. Unfortunately the buns were not roasted and while being nice and fresh they melted after just few minutes to pudding. Something for sure could be improved. They also forgot to add bacon to my burger, but due to fantastic service the bacon was brought to me as a side dish. Strange, but nice. The menu calls also for red onions in the burger, but I guess the white onion is just missing the color. Fries were crisp and tasty so bonus points for this. All in all a fair burger, that has the potential to be even something special if only paired with the right bun.

My regular pub for quite some time now and probably the only place made by expats for expats. The pints, while being rather expensive at 10 quid (it is zurich after all), are imported directly from Britain and Ireland poured with great care by the great staff. The atmosphere is also one of the best in the entirety of switzerland, being one of the only places you can actually meet fellow expats who will have a chat with you. Compared to most other places where the swiss will either be in their little closed-off "stammtisch" groups or if they chat with you, likely are.... shall we say somewhat mentally challenged, the twist really is the only place an anglophone can feel home here in Zurich. Also shoutouts to Mystery Mark. His Monday night quizzes are absolutely fantastic.

A true traditional English pub, Fantastic atmosphere, Great staff behind the bar. British and on A holiday? This is the place to go to feel home 👌

We went with friends, 4 of us. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were lucky enough to find a place. The food was very good, but it was self-service. We liked the old-school English pub atmosphere.

Definitely one of the place when it comes to sport in Zurich! Rugby World Cup will happen here for me. Finger food, great ambiance, definitely helpful and enjoyable service. Prost!

I wasn't impressed today at all in the Oliver twist. They advertise promotions which are impossible to actually get. E.g. it says a special price of 8.50Fr for a pint of certain IPA beer if you install the pickwick.ch app, however, it is impossible to install this app as not available in the Google play store and this already for several days. Not good or a correct business practice.

After a full week in Zurich as an American, I was happy to spend time at Oliver Twist which immediately felt like the pubs I’m used to back home. Helpful bartender with a sense of humor, friendly atmosphere among patrons, good food, great outside area. All you could ask for!

What a fantastic pub. Located in the heart of Zurich we were walking around looking for a place to get something to eat and get a proper pint and this place was hopping. Unfortunately we got into Xerox so late they were no longer serving food but no matter there was a football game on TV and the locals of course were going berserk for soccer game I don't really understand much for but it was totally awesome to be part of that energy. Of course being Switzerland and Zurich it was pretty expensive almost $40 American for three drinks. When you walk in you see yourself providing there is something available and then you have to order your food and drink from the bar they will deliver it back to your table. They also allow to go drinks and are more than happy. I wish I had more time in Switzerland I really wanted to try their fish and chips

After a 2.5 week adventure in Italy and Switzerland we were craving some fish and chips. Oliver Twist Pub was conveniently located within a close proximity to our hotel so we gave it a shot and it delivered. They had one order of fish and chips left fortunately. The fish was fresh and crispy served with a basket of fries, tartar sauce and cole slaw. We ordered and paid at the bar and were served at the table. The place has a British pub vibe and is a great spot if you're looking for cozy bar. It's also a little further from the busy old town scene if you want a break from the heavy foot traffic.

Oliver Twist is apparently the oldest pub in Zurich, and has specials for their locals with membership. If you're in town, hop in and grab a pint and enjoy the vibe.

We were spending the day wandering around, exploring Zurich, and found this pub in the recommended places for lunch on Yelp. It was a very hot day so we decided to eat indoors with the wonderful air conditioning. We enjoyed a couple of beers and I had a veggie burger with fries, while my friend had a regular burger. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The bartender/server was friendly and attentive and the pub itself is delightful.

Good little pub with a good selection of craft beers on tap, a friendly bartender, and a cozy beer garden area in the back.

fun spot in the gear of old town. i missed my guy brendan but their staff is warm and caring. they are about what they do! would recommend for a pint and beyond!

Great bar! The service is great and there is a lot of beers on draft. I recommend sitting outside and enjoy the people watching. The bathrooms are clean and easy to get to down stairs. I will be coming back.

Fun Irish pub in Zurich. It gets very crowded so go early if you plan to stay awhile.

According to its sign it's the oldest pub in Zurich, which only turns out to be 40 years old. With all the surrounding buildings being like several hundreds of years old that (at least) doesn't sound all that impressive, but hey, history has to start somewhere. I guess it's been bought out by a pub chain, but they got to keep their Oliver Twist name. It's a cozy, well-worn place that seems to fit like a nice old sweater. The food was surprisingly good, and it didn't hurt that we were being helped by a very nice and cute Aussie bartender named Mark, who was the one-man show there that afternoon. I had the fish and chips and my friend had the burger (two thumbs up!). It was a fun and pleasant joint to hang out in on a rainy afternoon, especially when the three Scotsmen with kilts walked in. No, that's not the start to some joke!

In the hustle and bustle of a city, there are times when you need an oasis to rest and recharge. This pub fits that bill. Great beer, solid food and places to sit both inside and out.

Yes, it's a chain --- but it's a _good_ chain. No, I don't think nachos are big in Dublin, but Talisker, Lagavulin, and Oban aren't from the Emerald Isle either, so I'm willing to accept some non-Irishness. The Havana Añejo Reserva rum is a must try for anyone who has done all their rum drinking in the US. The aforementioned Scotch is well worth settling down with. And they have a terrifying range of beer drinks (black and tan, snakebite, etc). Certainly a haven for English-speakers, but not exclusively so.

My hubs and I were in Zurich for only a day and a half and we were searching high and low for a good pub locals hang out at. First let me say we found this place on complete accident we decided to follow drunk Germans through the alleyways like any sane American would do. And they were chanting something we couldn't understand but hey, it was fun. We were at a dead end and low and behold we found this pub! People were screaming at a rugby game which was also awesome. We had a beer and I think we had food, not sure. An Australian approached me whenever my hubs went to the restroom asking me why I'm married and my husband ended up interjecting and we all laughed. Good times. Good times. Yep. This bar. Good times.

This is a smaller wrap around bar with a lot of great beers on tap. The bar tenders are all friendly and speak English which is great if you aren't a local. I'd recommend sitting in the outdoor patio area which is pretty incredible,especially if the weather is nice. It looks like it also has a retractable awning for rainy days

This review is only based on the food - this is so, since the food was unbelievably bad. As I wrote in my tip: This place just won the honor of serving, probably the worst burger I have ever eaten: pre-fabricated bun, mystery meat pre-made patty(that), fries from the freezer. Just burger : 11.90 CHF "Feast"(burger+fries): 20.90 CHF It is an abuse of words beyond what should be legal, to use the word feast here. How do they get away with serving something this disgusting, but so expensive. Unfair business!!!! People: do not order any of thing off their menu - you will get disappointed. But ok - what did I expect? - this is Zürich after all...(but I guess the standard seems to actually be going up)

For what its worth this place was awesome in our experience. My wife and I headed down here with our 8 month old baby while I was working in Zurich for a few weeks. To call out the two one-star reviews I will comment with this... (I think they're really off-base) 1) The tables and entryway clearly state to order at the bar. So your complaint about "horrible service" seems to be from a mis-understanding or perhaps missing to read the signs. 2) To the complaint about the "not so great" 10.50 CHF burger - A combo at McDonalds is 13.50 CHF for the small. You can get a decent burger in ZRH for 15-20 CHF if you get the burger alone - no frites - no sides. The burger isn't great, granted, but order something else! We had the fish and chips and the battered chicken. Both were excellent. If you're expecting American portions you may be a little disappointed as they aren't so generous, but the food is super tasty and we felt it wasn't overpriced for the area. Beer prices are a little higher than other places, but they always have the proper sports on. You can pop in an watch all the BPL games (for the most part) and Formula 1 and Moto GP. It's a fun atmosphere, and a great mix of locals, English-speaking tourists, and US, GB, IR ex-pats. We spent 6-8 hours in this place, made some great friends (who we actually are still in touch with), and didn't break the bank. What more can I say? If you're looking for a great spot to catch the game (BPL) or just hang out with some English-speaking folks you'll find them here. We'll definitely be going back next weekend to watch the pen-ultimate BPL title games.

This is a busy pub, particularly on weekends. It's a good place to meet expats and watch some sport. They have karaoke nights here too occasionally which are quite entertaining. More of a rugby pub than a football pub. Food is good classic pub food

Horrible service. I normally never write bad reviews but my fiancé and I visited this bar to grab a drink and some food while we were visiting Zurich. We walked in and after walking around noticing no other tables were open, we sat at a table that still had the previous customers' dirty dishes on it. After watching Bartender 1 flirt heavily with two female customers at the bar right in front of our table for 20 minutes, completely aware of and ignoring the fact that we were sitting there waiting to order/have the table cleared, we decided to go to the bar to order a drink while we waited. Bartender 1 walked away as my fiancé approached the bar and Bartender 2 stepped up and proceeded to flirt heavily with the same 2 female customers while he stood at the bar waiting to be served for 10 minutes. Bartender 2 was still flirting with the two female customers when we finally decided to leave and not give this bar any of our time or money. Horribly rude customer service, by far the worst I've ever seen.
