Nestled in the entrance of a small food hall attached to a brewery, Olivia's is an eatery focused on African cuisine. I had the pleasure of experiencing Olivia's due to my TikTok peaking my curiosity of foods outside of my normal comfort zone. Originally, I was going to get the Egusi with Fufu but changed my mind at the last minute and went for the Ox Tails and Jollof Rice. OMG... My taste buds experienced a new dimension tonight! The ox tails were tender, juicy, flavorful and plenty in a broth surrounded by large chucks of carrot, potatoes, and fava beans. The Jollof Rice was cooked to perfection with robust seasoning and vegetables. I also had some Puff Puffs - fried dough balls and a Meat Pie. The Puff Puffs were fried perfectly and seasoned well. I didn't have room in my tummy for the meat pie but I know it's gonna be great for breakfast!
If you're in Roanoke, this is a 10/10 must try. Spice level can be customized mild, medium or spicy - medium was perfect for my white girl taste buds. Service was impeccable and everything was made fresh and served hot. I cannot wait for a cold rainy day to go back and dive into a dish of Egusi and Fufu!!
