A really interesting, quaint hotel. Located off of Nairobi National Park. The positives included that the employees we most interacted with, our waiter, James, and our guide, Washington, were both excellent people and a joy to be around. And the room we had was certainly large and quite comfortable, while the grounds and pool were stunning. The food as well was truly excellent. However, we had several issues with this lodge. The first occurred before we even arrived, as they somehow made a mistake in reserving our day room for our last day. To be fair to them, they quickly offered solutions to the issue, by either allowing us to stay on the grounds but not have a room or by booking us an alternative dayroom (which is what we did), but finding this out just before we arrived at their hotel was certainly stressful. Secondly, and perhaps related to the first issue, a lot of the more senior people seemed rather unorganized. We never received our welcome briefing, so we lacked some knowledge about the hotel (For example the wifi password in the information book in the room did not work for us, but we had no information about the new password), and it took us asking about the resolution of the day room issue, and our waiter calling about this, for us to find out what was happening. Another more minor issue was that one of our bathrooms was full of ants, and so not really usable. Finally, it’s worth mentioning the airplane noise. The grounds are right under the final approach for JKIA, and the sound was loud enough that conversation was not possible when one was overhead. This continued throughout the night, the rest of my family slept well but I had a very tough sleep with the noise. I can certainly understand why people like this lodge, but I think we will look elsewhere when we return to Nairobi.
