A peaceful, unique stay on the edge of the park
We spent one night at Ololo Farm and Lodge and absolutely loved the experience. It’s right on the edge of Nairobi National Park, so you get that safari feel, but with the comforts of a cozy, well-run lodge.
We stayed in the Terrace Room and did the Game Package, which included meals, a game drive, and a tour of their regenerative farm. The farm visit was honestly one of the highlights—super informative and hands-on. We even got to collect fresh eggs from under the chickens and ducks! They also have a black soldier fly project that’s been recognised by the UN, which was really impressive.
Ololo is run by Craig and Joanne, who moved from Australia and built something really special here. Craig’s background in regenerative farming clearly influences everything—from the way the food is grown to how the place is run.
Speaking of food, everything was fresh and full of flavour. We had tilapia tacos with slaw and lime crema, made from fish raised right there on the farm, and a really good mushroom soup made with mushrooms grown onsite. There’s a kids' menu too if you're travelling with little ones.
The lodge itself is calm and beautifully done, with great views and a really nice pool area. It’s close to JKIA, so you do hear some planes, but the sounds of wildlife were much more noticeable (and enjoyable!).
Definitely recommend if you're looking for a peaceful, sustainable, and unique place to stay near Nairobi or a staycation.
