The Best Beaches in Turkey

20 Best Beaches in Europe

"It's known as the Blue Lagoon, and the moniker is apt — the bay is so richly colored it almost doesn't look real. The bay and surrounding forest are nature preserves with secret beaches, so it's unsullied and free of the overdevelopment that characterize many Turkish resort towns. Thankfully, it still has the necessary amenities (bathrooms, showers, cafés) to make your visit more comfortable. The place is a top spot for paragliders thanks to nearby Mount Babadağ, and the lagoon's excellent visibility is ideal for snorkelers and scuba divers." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This is one of the most beautiful and vibrant beaches I've ever visited. The water is crystal clear, especially during the warmer months, and the rocky coastline adds a unique charm. We spent most of our time exploring the stunning Blue Lagoon, but even just walking along the beach left a lasting impression. The cleanliness and excellent maintenance of the area truly stand out. Watching the paragliders gracefully landing on the beach every few minutes was a fascinating sight, adding an extra layer of excitement to the visit. The beach is well-equipped with plenty of toilets and showers, which is very convenient for visitors.

Ölüdeniz Beach, located near Fethiye on Turkey's Turquoise Coast, is one of the country's most iconic destinations. Known for its breathtaking Blue Lagoon, this beach offers crystal-clear turquoise waters and a scenic backdrop of lush mountains. It is ideal for various activities such as swimming, snorkeling, paragliding, and stand-up paddleboarding. The beach area is well-equipped with amenities like rental chairs, umbrellas, food stalls, and shops, ensuring a comfortable visit. The best time to visit is during late spring or early autumn (May, June, September, October) when the weather is warm, and the crowds are smaller. Summer months are also popular but tend to be busier and hotter.

I was lucky enough to experience Ölüdeniz in November, and it was pure bliss. The usually bustling beach was tranquil, and the weather was perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The lagoon's turquoise waters were as inviting as ever, and the surrounding mountains provided a stunning backdrop. A truly unforgettable experience. Despite the cooler temperatures, Ölüdeniz in December still holds its charm. The fewer crowds allowed me to fully appreciate the natural beauty of the lagoon. The water was refreshing, and the air was crisp and clean. It was a peaceful and rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Lovely beach in itself, if you want quiet then it won't be the place for you. It's nice to watch the paragliders and the water is pretty clear. Handy to have lots of toilets and showers. Be careful, because it is rather overpriced and the pushy tourist trap is overwhelming.

A lovely setting but ruined by the fact that you are not permitted to place towels down and you have to pay to use the recliners. Beach littered with plastic and cigarette filter.

Lively beachside resort with lots of bars and restaurants. Buy any ‘genuine fake’ item that you can think of! Locals are keen to do a deal, but not aggressive with it. If on the promenade, keep a wary eye out for landing paragliders. Nearby Babadag cable car a must, even if you can’t find the courage to paraglide. On the beachfront: ‘Cloud 9’ serves excellent seafood salad; whilst ‘Tiger’ bar has good prices and drinks with the best sunset views

Busy but beautiful. Sunbed for 2 plus umbrella is 600TL. Paragliding is around 4000 liras per person. Pebble Beach, be warned. Water is a good temperature.

Ölüdeniz Beach is absolutely stunning! The turquoise waters, soft sands, and breathtaking mountain backdrop make it feel like paradise. Whether you’re swimming, sunbathing, or paragliding, it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature’s beauty. A must-visit in Türkiye!

Yelp
Oludeniz is 15 kilometres from Fethiye, on the west coast of Turkey. The town is packed with beach resorts, bars and restaurants. The blue lagoon at Oludeniz is one of the most photographed beaches in the Mediterranean and rated as one of the top 5 in the world. It is an amazing place that you should visit. Especially in September- October when it is not too hot! Crystal clear waters, amazing places to discover, the loveliest friendliest people.

Yelp
English/Ingilizce: was my first time in Fethiye and first time paragliding. The only thing I could say about my experience with FlyTurk was that it ruined my vacation here. After landing, the guys gave me my pictures and didn't ask for money. Later, they call us cursing and yelling while telling us to bring them their money. We tell them we don't have to pay cause they didn't ask for money or indicate anything for us to pay. A couple of hours later, police calls us to inform us about a complaint in our name. We had to drive back to Oludeniz at 9 pm to solve the issue which ended up with them telling us that it was our fault and accusing us of stealing. Worst experience I ever had on vacation, I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you want your vacation ruined too. Terrible customer service. The name of the pilots that flew us was Engin Altop and Semih Demir. Ordayken bizi hirsizlikla sucladilar. Sahtekardan baska birsey degil bunlar. Sizde tatiliniz mahvolsun istemiyorsaniz buraya gelmeyin. Kesinlikle tavsiye etmem. Buyuk bir sirket gibi gorunmesine ragmen, musteriyle nasil konusacaklarini bilmiyorlar. Bizi ucuran pilotlarin ismide Engin Altop ve Semih Demir.

Yelp
Olu Deniz can be equally criticised and praised.First the minus points are there's the usual selection of tacky bars catering for the Neanderthal Brit abroad, Sky Sports, Burgers and beers, the vulgar Shadows being a prime culprit. The plus points is the beautiful location and plenty of more laid back bars and restaurants to choose from, try Buzz Bar, The Help Bar or my favourite, Daphne's Bar next to The Tonoz Beach Hotel. Visited here for the first time and really enjoyed it, though I feel a week is easily enough with some sightseeing thrown in ( a trip to Rhodes is recommended.
